Chapter 127: Going at Each Other’s Throats at the Onset of Conflict

None in the crowd dared to say anything, and everyone was silent. It was then that they finally realized that the una.s.suming-looking young man was more than what he seemed to be.
n.o.body present was stupid. Someone who dared to make Song Shijie look bad in front of everyone like that either had something up their sleeve or was just insane.
Lu Xuan took a chair from the side and sat down casually. He then crossed his legs and looked at Song Shijie. “Well then, you’ve gone the extra mile to force me out here, so what now?
“I really don’t know what has gotten into you. You come all the way here and throw your weight around just because Luo Ying provoked you? Didn’t you do any research before you came?”
Song Shijie’s expression changed drastically. He had no idea how Lu Xuan found out that Luo Ying, who was behind him, and he had indeed got to Min Province in a hurry due to what Luo Ying said.
There was no way he would not have realized from what Lu Xuan just said that Luo Ying had instigated him to do what he just did, so much so that she made him her tool just to get rid of Lu Xuan.
He was someone who thought he was clever, and that realization made him really frustrated.
He had no idea what happened between Luo Ying and Lu Xuan, or he would have looked into the case before coming.
He knew all too well of the powers backing Luo Ying, and she was every bit his equal in that regard. Yet, Luo Ying was still unable to do anything against Lu Xuan, so much so that she resorted to making use of him instead.
There was no doubt that Lu Xuan had just become a lot more dangerous than what he perceived from before.
He was even able to realize, after thinking on it for a bit, that Luo Ying was using more than just him. She was using the entire Holy Dragon Corporation.
If anything were to happen to him, the corporation would not have just let it slide, after all.
Song Shijie was indeed full of himself, yet he was not stupid. He connected the dots and realized the underlying problems right away.
Lin Miaoyi, who was right beside Lu Xuan, was able to come to such a conclusion as well. As someone from the Taichu Group, there was no way she would not have known who Luo Ying was.
Luo Ying was doing all this to get to Lu Xuan?
That was something that she had been oblivious about all the time.
She had been steeped in her training in isolation and paid little to no attention to what happened between Lu Xuan and the Luo Clan.
She initially thought that Luo Kun’s death marked the end of the feud between the Luo Clan and Lu Xuan.
The Luo Clan had even suspected that she had something to do with Luo Kun’s death, and that made things between the Lin Clan and the Luo Clan very tense for a time.
When she came to think about it, she realized that Luo Kun’s death most probably had something to do with Lu Xuan.
While she was still unaware, the Luo Clan had probably been able to find something and had clashed with Lu Xuan more than once.
However, from the looks of things, Lu Xuan was probably the one with an edge; otherwise, Luo Ying, according to what Lin Miaoyi knew of her, would not have had to resort to having others do her dirty work.
“My way of going about my business is none of your concern!”
Song Shijie’s face turned gloomy. The revelation of the fact that he was being manipulated into doing someone else’s dirty work was an insult like none other to him—someone who held great pride in himself.
“I don’t care how you go about your business, and I sure as h.e.l.l don’t care if you were being used to do someone else’s dirty work or not. But, you got someone to cripple one of my followers yesterday. I’m a fair person. You’ve crippled my guy, and I’ll call us even just crippling you,” Lu Xuan said plainly.
Everyone became dead silent hearing that. There were many who thought that cultivators were indeed a lawless bunch.
A bunch who went about crippling and killing people at the onset of conflict.
All those rules that were established prior were probably of little to no meaning to the cultivators.
With the world of cultivators emerging as the dominant group, everyone else was forced to get used to their rules.
“What?” Song Shijie was very p.i.s.sed right. Lu Xuan did just say that he was going to cripple Song Shijie, after all.
He had initially been wary of Lu Xuan because that man was still lauded as the so-called number one cultivator in all of Min Province. Although the cultivators of Min Province were hardly worth noting, a man capable of standing at the very top had to be something special.
However, what Lu Xuan just said caused his pent up anger to erupt like a volcano right there and then.
“Who the f*ck you think you are!? Don’t go around having the idea that you can do whatever you like just because you’re known as the number one in the Min Province. You’re king just because no one bothered to put you in your place!” The muscles on Song Shijie’s face twitched, and the wrath in his eyes burned brightly.
His expression was very pointed and intimidating. While he had indeed been instigated by Luo Ying into making his first venture into Min Province, doing so had, nonetheless, done what he had intended all along. Luo Ying’s involvement was simply a push at the right time.
There were three mountains that he had to topple to make the Min Province his territory.
The first among them would be the Special Task Force, the second being the Southern Shaolin Temple, and the last was the man who was lauded as the number one in all of Min Province—Lu Xuan.
The killing intent on his face was bared for all to see by then.
“Wen Ziteng, kill him!” he shouted. Wen Ziteng, who stood behind and had been itching to make a move, pounced right away. Despite looking proper and gentlemanly prior, he turned into a ferocious beast in an instant, out to tear down his prey.
Wen Ziteng was so extremely quick that it seemed as if he had broken the sound barrier. His hand lashed out like the claws of a beast, heading straight for Lu Xuan.
Boom!
That swipe caused the air to explode right away, making the attack look extremely ferocious.
A ball of Spiritual Qi was materialized into something resembling a blade in Lu Xuan’s hand in the nick of time.
The blade, which was coalesced using Spiritual Qi, flashed in an instant as it slashed through the air. The blade flashed as if it was a bolt of lightning, tearing the air before it apart.
Pffttt!
The blade was brought down on Wen Ziteng soon enough. He was unable to react in time, and his head was sent flying.
He was unable to even react to the attack, and his formidable Shield of Vigor felt like more than something made out of cardboard right before Lu Xuan’s blade.
His Shield of Vigor was cut through as if it was made out of paper.
The terrifying scene sent everyone into a panic, and countless waiters were terrified of what had happened.
Even those political and commercial big shots were extremely shocked by the horrifying slaughter happening right before their eyes.
Cultivators were out for each other’s throats at the onset of conflict. That was something they had only heard of in the past, and none of them had expected to see that happen before their eyes.
Song Shijie had been terrifying, to begin with, as he simply had Wen Ziteng kill the man right before him without showing any hint of hesitation.
However, it paled in comparison to what Lu Xuan had done, as he, too, had simply cut down Wen Ziteng without any hesitation as well.
The methods used right were over 100 times more b.l.o.o.d.y than those employed in business, as there was no room for mediation and reconciliation. The strength between both sides was laid bare for all to see.
Everyone held their breath, and it was only then that they realized what it was like to be caught in a dilemma.
On one side, there was the Holy Dragon Corporation, a conglomerate that was known all of the country, whose influence was extended even overseas.
On the other side, there was Lu Xuan—the number one in all of Min Province—a man whose reputation was forged through battles that he personally saw to, and a very formidable threat to all.
Being caught between those two had indeed put a lot of people into a dilemma. It was as if they were caught in a crossfire between two dragons, and any misstep would easily kill them.
