Explanation About Slave
“…Slave huh…”
The word that Aria grumbled over was nothing if the one who heard it was other person, but for Miko, that one word triggered her past memories.
“…What’s wrong? Your face is scary.”

After left Clan branch, yoshiko turned around and went to behind the building. She found big wooden building there. On the signboard, there was “slave” written.

After Miko shout with little loud voice at the entrance, a man showed from inside the store. He was slender and tall, smartly wore tailcoat.
“Ah, customer, welcome. What will you need today?”
“Yeah, I planning to buy slave, if it’s fine, I want to ask about something.”
“Ah, is that so. And then, what you want to asking about?”
“About slave in this place, how they become slave?”
Miko asked the slave dealer with some anger.
“…Hm, yeah, in here is just the same with the other slave traders, basically, slaves are criminal slaves and debt slaves. Crime slaves are, people who commit a crime and became slave as punishment. Debt slaves are, when a village or family unable to pay taxes, they sold oneself as subst.i.tute of the tax.”
“There is no one who become slave illegally then?”
“No, unfortunately, illegal slaves are exist. They were kidnapped from village or town and sold in black market. I that happened, they won’t be released, traded in secret, their heart will be broke. Of course, illegal slavery is crime. Kidnapping, sold, and made them slave, the punishment is death. Furthermore, the only slaves sold at shop that managed by Clan are crime slaves or debt slaves. If illegal slaves are found, they are immediately released and Clan will take care of them until they can support them self.”
“I see. The last thing, how much slave cost?”
“Usually is, starting from 50 silver coins. There is no upper limit. Well, this is business after all, if it make you uncomfortable, I beg your pardon.”
“Okay. I need to thing for some time. Thank you for answering my questions.”
“No, I’ll be waiting your return.”
The slave dealer see of Miwa with smile. After that Miwa came to place where accomodation facilities gathered.
“First of all, I must secure a place for sleep tonight. Ooh, It seems nice here.”
The inn that Miko found was named “The Peace of Wind”.
