The rumored mountain of the Dong-Lang was very different from the mountain behind a village where the guy was used to.
The trees grew tall and without much distance between them, so one could not tell whether it was day or night walking among those trees.
However difficult it was for the guy to see, he did not stop. He stepped each step delicately and walked around the mountain.
"Master Cheon-Ho! Master Cheon-Ho! Please save my bride!"
The guy's voice boomed all over the mountain.
"Master Cheon-Ho! Master Cheon-Ho!"
The guy called out Master Cheon-Ho and did not stop even when his throat became hoa.r.s.e.
All the while, the guy did not forget to store some fruits from his surroundings for ration. Even though the guy's mouth was salivating, he could not eat those fruits.
If the guy wanted to feed his bride, he had to endure his hunger. He braced himself once more as he swallowed his saliva.
Last night, the guy dreamed a dream.
In the dream, the guy was sleeping.
The guy could not tell if it was a dream or a daydream since it was weird to see himself sleeping in a dream. Few moments later, the guy saw Ho-Chi holding the sleeping guy's hand in his.
Even though the guy never officially held Ho-Chi's hand, he knew of their even skin tone and woundless characteristics.
Ho-Chi cupped the guy's rough hand in his warm and small hand and blanketed the back of the guy's hand with his other hand.
The guy woke up from his dream and quietly watched his bride who was sleeping.
Before the guy fell asleep next to Ho-Chi, he made sure that Ho-Chi was bundled up in a thick fur to prevent evening dew from soaking him. There was no way that Ho-Chi could have taken out his hands that is wrapped up tightly from his side and hold his hand.
Even knowing this, the guy had a strange sensation on the back of his hand. It felt warm. The guy showed expression that is neither a smile nor a frown.
The warmth from the dream made the guy forget about the cold night air. Because the guy did not cover himself with anything, his clothes were soaked with night dews, but he did not feel cold.
Since he could no longer go back to sleep, the guy tightened his fist on his sides and started to call on Master Cheon-Ho again.
At that moment, with a rustle, a white fox appeared before the guy.
Spooked, the guy instantly took out his knife that he carried in his belt.
The white fox watched the guy with disinterest as he turned his body and walked away. The strange thing was that the fox was walking slowly as if expecting the guy to follow him.
The guy only set there blinking several times.
The fox gekkered at the guy like he was calling him.
When the guy still did not move, the fox stood there in his track, staring up at the guy.
"Ah, perhaps you are helping me.. Do you know where Master Cheon-Ho lives?!"
As if the fox understood the guy, he started walking again with light steps.
The guy's jaw dropped when he saw the big palace that suddenly appeared in front of him.
To tell you the truth, the guy had his doubt about following the fox, but now he was dumbfounded to find such a splendid palace in the middle of a deep forest. It was painted all red and it appeared as big as the mountain.
While the guy was gaping up at the palace, the white fox disappeared and two of soldiers appeared in front of the palace gate.
Not believing his eyes, the guy approached the two soldiers in front of the gate.
"h.e.l.lo. Is this where Master Cheon-Ho li…AK!!!"
The guy backed up a few steps, startled.
The two soldiers were foxes dressed in armors.
Their face was that of a fox, their hands were paws, and they had tails under their armors. They were also snarling at the guy with their sharp teeth visible.
"Human!! Where do you think you are to speak Master Cheon-Ho's name so casually?!! Get out! Ugk!! Human smell!"
"Urk! How did he get all the way over here?! Get out before you spread your filthy smell all over the palace!! If you want to live, get out!!"
The guy realized that he was in a right place and smiled wide despite the threats of the fox soldiers.
"T..This is where Master Cheon-Ho lives. Oh my, my bride! We found it. You can be treated now!!"
The guy carefully lowered the bride off from his back and knelt before the two fox soldiers.
"Please, let us see Master Cheon-Ho. Only Master Cheon-Ho can treat my bride's illness! Please let us meet Master Cheon-Ho!"
"Know your place!!! Get out! If you want to keep your head on your shoulder!!"
"Urgk! Humans stink!!"
"Please, help us! My bride is a fox! He is dying because he doesn't have the marble!!"
The fox soldiers paused for a moment and studied Ho-Chi who was laid on the ground. They began to laugh.
"Don't you lie to us human! How is that a fox?! That's a human! I can smell his stink from all the way over here!"
"He dares to deceive us!!"
"No!! He is a fox! My bride is a fox!"
The guy carried Ho-Chi over closer so to show the fox soldiers Ho-Chi's fox ears hidden under his hair.
"Look! He is a fox!"
But the fox soldiers only snorted.
"Even though he is a fox, he is not like us! Since he is so weak, he deserves to die! Master Cheon-Ho wouldn't use his precious power for some stray fox like him!! Take him and get out!!"
"Look at him! He even has a black hair! He doesn't even have much spiritual energy, he is practically a human! How about his smell, it stinks!! How is that a fox!! KankKankKank (gekkering)"
The fox soldiers laughed at the guy as they swatted him away.
The guy rolled around on the ground all the while protecting Ho-Chi in his embrace.
The town's people cursed at his bride because he was a fox.
Even though Ho-Chi did not do anything to them, only because he was a fox, they mocked and cursed at him.
However, now even the foxes cursed at his bride because he is weak.
They cursed at his bride because his bride is nothing like a fox.
The guy swallowed his tears and made up his mind.
"I will..I will make my bride happy. I promise, I will make you happy. So please, you have to open your eyes…"
"What are you babbling about?"
At that moment, with a heavy sound, the thick front gate opened to let out a deep and serene voice from the other side.
As soon as the fox soldiers saw a figure with the violet hair, they lowered their heads.
TN: Thank you for waiting! I’ve reached the half way point of The Story of a Small Fox Who Has a Star. I am thinking of taking a break from this story and seriously start editing the previous chapters. I will also translate my other project more frequently because I am still not done with the beginning part of that story. I will translate and post once in a while! Thank you for reading!
