Chapter 829: Is the Last Boss, the Dragon G.o.d?
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
For 20 minutes, Jiang Fei waited alone until the party members revived and came back.
It took some time but everyone returned and Little Rain was excited to see what they had.
"Guild master! It is time for your magic fingers!" said Little Rain, jumping with joy.
"Magic fingers… Hah," Jiang Fei scoffed and brushed it off. The two bosses that were killed 20 minutes ago had disappeared. Instead, two large treasure chests were there.
Jiang Fei opened the boxes and both of them shined with a golden light. Everyone was dead silent.
"So much for a powerful boss," Little Rain grunted.
"Yeah. At least a Holy or an Ancient item!"
It was clear that the party was not happy with the loot. The bosses' difficulty did not reflect their reward. It was true that they had defeated it but Jiang Fei was the person that was responsible for that. To be fair, anyone would be displeased for obtaining only a Legendary tier loot after an Epic tier dungeon raid.
"Hold on your horses. Just because it is a Legendary tier, it doesn't mean that the item is useless!" said Jiang Fei. His initial reaction to the golden light was similar to the rest of the party member. However, he immediately changed his mind when he read the item's description.
"Why did you say that? Is it something awesome?!"
"Hey! If the guild master says its good, it should be good!"
Anew Returner chimed in and said, "Show us! Come on! Come on! Come on!"
"Relax! I'm getting there," Jiang Fei snickered and posted the item description for everyone to see.
Loyal Guardian Gem (Special Tool, Legendary)
Use: Excites all ally players' pets, increasing 200% Attack Power, Defense, and Health Points. The effect lasts for 30 minutes.
Note: This tool can only be used once every 48 hours.
"Eh… It's nothing but a buff tool," said Little Rain, pouting.
"Quiet down, dumb little pipsqueak! That item is very useful!" said Lady Casanova.
Little Rain did not think it through but he was not at fault since he was not a guild commander. Lady Casanova understood how the Gem could be a useful tool for the entire guild. Currently, there were only a handful of players in the entire game who had obtained a pet. Even though they might be weak, everyone's pet would be granted a double boost for 30 minutes with the Gem!
The age of pet companions had just begun. Sooner or later, pets would be seen as a requirement, like having a weapon in order to play the game. When the time comes, when every player had gotten themselves a pet, the Gem's value would be increased. One or two, the Gem would be insignificant. Have an army of 1,000 players with 1,000 pets, the 200% boost of attack, defense, and health would be devastatingly awesome.
"I'm not going to put this up. Lady Casanova will hold this. Use this in case there is another guild activity that involves a lot of players. You can also pa.s.s it to Billy Boy to let him use it during the PvP war."
"Alright, shall we move on? I only have 30 minutes on my transformation. If we want to kill the last boss, we need to move right now!" Jiang Fei suggested and made his move without waiting. He did not want to give any time for the party to have a friendly chit-chat session.
"Go! Go! Follow the guild master! We'll talk later!" said one of the party members as he chased after Jiang Fei.
Jiang Fei's transformation skill lasts for one hour but its cooldown duration was 24 hours. If he missed the chance to reach the final boss before the transformation ends, he would need to wait until tomorrow before he could fight again. To be fair, Jiang Fei was rushing since he had wasted too much time waiting for the party to revive and corpse-run back to their body. Right then, he had less than 30 minutes to reach the boss and defeat him. That was why he did not wait for the party to respond and proceeded as fast as he could.
The dungeon design was p.i.s.sing Jiang Fei off. After the second boss fight, the pathway became smaller and the monsters appeared to be squeezed in like sardines in a can!
Jiang Fei used Shadow Clones to butcher his way forward but his progress was not fast enough. The timer ticked away quickly as he was wasting his time killing monsters that were packed along the way. By the time the timer reached 5 minutes, Jiang Fei gave up trying to push himself and accepted the fact that he would not fight the boss that day.
"Argh… Looks like I need to wait until tomorrow!" Jiang Fei sighed.
"No worries, the dungeon is released for a month. Other guilds might not and could not even get past the easier dungeon, lest mention this one," said Seven Star Warrior.
"What should we do now? Are we proceeding or calling it a day?" Lady Casanova asked. Jiang Fei's current state was not strong enough to defeat the boss, especially since he had to rely on his Battle Form to take on the second boss fight in the dungeon. The third boss fight would only be tougher. Without Battle Form, Jiang Fei might not be able to defeat it.
"Let's just continue on first, I'll see how the final boss looks like before calling it a day," said Jiang Fei.
Without Battle Form, Jiang Fei's killing speed dropped significantly. It was not that he was lacking in firepower, it was the monster count. There were too many monsters in between Jiang Fei and the final boss! On the bright side, the experience points was nice.
After more than an hour later, the party cleared all the monsters and reached the final chamber.
"Impossible!" Jiang Fei gasped when he saw the boss—for a good reason.
Firstly, Jiang Fei was caught off-guard when he saw a silhouette of a human instead of a large dragon. When he got closer, he was shaken to his soul when he recognized the person. It was Bennette Straz, the Dragon G.o.d!
"What the f*ck is this? What, in the name of blasphemy, is the developer doing?" Jiang Fei cried. The Dragon G.o.d is a Level 110 Intermediate Celestial! Bring a million or even a billion players, they could never defeat such an ent.i.ty!
"Argh… f*ck it. I should go and say something. He probably saw me…" said Jiang Fei to himself. He had the other party members stay behind while he confronted Bennette Straz.
"Insolent fool! Your greed shall be the death of you!" Bennette Straz roared, like how all NPC bosses did.
"That'd odd," said Jiang Fei. That manner of speech was nothing like how he had remembered.
Jiang Fei got closer to Bennette Straz, close enough to check on his name and information but far enough to avoid triggering the battle.
Bennette Straz, the Dragon G.o.d (Projection) (Dragon, Intermediate Overlord)
Level: 95
Health Points: 200,000,000
Attack Power: 40,000
Jiang Fei did not bother to look further after he had seen the name tag. It was only a projection of the real Dragon G.o.d, the weakest kind of clone technique.
