Chapter 810: Shadow Whip

Dragon's Bane!
Jiang Fei hurled his ultimate finishing move as the situation could not get worse.
The number of dark circles created via Darkness was reaching its saturated limit. The number of players dying from the lack of healing had increased over time. If Jiang Fei had delayed any longer, he might be the only one player left standing.
-25,379,520!
It was fortunate that Jiang Fei had managed to hack away enough health points that Dragon's Bane had dealt sufficiently enough damage to empty out the boss's health bar. The unfortunate boss had only just been released off of its chain and sh.e.l.l but was killed in the next thirty seconds by Jiang Fei.
"It's finally over…" said Little Rain, looking at the battlefield, panting as he did. If there was a rhythm to fighting the boss, it would be too fast for anyone to track. Not even Lady Casanova could note what was going on. All she had recorded was "multiple black areas! Must dodge!"
"Don't get too chummy just yet. There are still the Dark Beings roaming around. You don't want to let your guard down just yet," said Seven Star Warrior as he commanded the last surviving Priests to use purge on them. Although they were instant-killing machines, they were not much of a threat as long as they were left untouched. However, it was still not a good reason enough to relax just yet.
Once the last of the Dark Beings were removed from existence, Jiang Fei sighed in relief.
"Guild master, the loot! Check out the loot!" cried Little Rain as he relentlessly nudged Jiang Fei.
"Alright!" said Jiang Fei, both annoyed and relieved. After he had picked up Dragon's Bane and put it away, he proceeded with the boss's drops.
Shadow Essence (Magic Essence, Legendary)
Use: Increases a pet's Magic Ability.
"Master… Can I have this one?" asked Akatziris as she came to him and bowed politely.
"What for?"
Jiang Fei arched an eyebrow.
"This will be useful for me to become stronger," said Akatziris with a straight face.
"Mhm. Fine."
Akatziris was registered as Jiang Fei's pet; hence, she could use the Shadow Essence to empower herself.
"Guys, I'm taking this one!" Jiang Fei screamed maniacally as he held it up high to declared it to everyone.
"Guild master, I'm not questioning your taste but… why are you always taking strange things for yourself?" Seven Star Warrior chuckled away. Naturally, everyone would not have anything against Jiang Fei even if he had decided to claim all the loot. Technically speaking, it was Jiang Fei who did all the hard work, the rest of the party were just hitching a ride.
"Eh. It's useful for me," he shrugged, "I don't need pet eggs anyway so, thing black colored… stuff is good enough!"
"Oh, by the way," said Jiang Fei as he suddenly recalled something. "Remember to ask for reimburs.e.m.e.nt from Miss Rose. A compensation for me taking this little… thing!"
Even though he did all the killing, the Dragon Lair raid was still considered a guild excursion; hence, he needed to reward the party for at least partic.i.p.ating. It did not matter to him since the guild's treasury had plenty to go around. It was good to share some of that wealth with the members to increase the overall morale.
"Huzzah! Thanks, guild master!"
"Alright, alright. Calm your boots. Let's get along with the raid," said Jiang Fei as he waved away the cheers and praises.
"Here," said Jiang Fei as he handed over the Shadow Essence to Akatziris.
"Thank you very much, my master."
"Ding! Your pet Akatziris has gained 6,000 Magic Attack!"
"Ding! You pet Akatziris has gained a new skill, Shadow Whip!"
Once the Shadow Essence was in her hands, Jiang Fei had immediately received a string of system notifications.
"Woah, did you know this?" Jiang Fei was stunned when he realized that the Shadow Essence was powerful. Increasing her magic attack was given but 6,000 Magic Attack was insane! Now, Akatziris had reached the potential of a Lower Overlord tier and was no longer the weak little supporter-type pet!
"No. I don't but I felt that I could get stronger with this! The new skill is strong as well!" said Akatziris as she lowered her head bashfully.
"Heh. I look forward to seeing you in the next battle," said Jiang Fei after he patted Akatziris's slender shoulders. Akatziris was a special existence with higher intelligence. Unfortunately, he was unable to have full access to her complete attribute and skill tree, unlike other player's pets. That was the reason why he had not been relying too much on Akatziris for damage and disabling role; he had little understanding of her character.
After the laboratory map, Jiang Fei and the party proceeded to the next part, which was a small courtyard. The courtyard was different. To be precise, it did not feel like they were still in the same dungeon. The design, the style, and the setting were too different. The courtyard had nothing in it. Just a piece of empty land with wild black dragons roaming around.
"Sheesh! There are so many of them here!"
"Do all the monsters hide here?"
"That must be it! I had thought that it was odd since the difference between the two dungeons was too great! It looks like all the monsters that were missing earlier are all gathered in this courtyard!"
The entire party started throwing their theories out there once they entered the courtyard. The odd thing was not about the number of monsters then but the absence of a boss.
"Am I supposed to clear all the monsters to sp.a.w.n the boss?" wondered Jiang Fei.
"That should be it," Lady Casanova grunted, who was standing behind him.
"It matters not now. Let's just kill everything here," said Jiang Fei before he nocked arrows on his Heaven's Breaker Twilight Bow.
"Master, if you would allow me," said Akatziris before Jiang Fei could attack.
"Mhm. Go ahead," said Jiang Fei. His voice contained a hint of antic.i.p.ation since Akatziris had just obtained a new skill.
"Thank you," Akatziris uttered happily before jumping into a fight with one of the dragons with her whip ready in her hand.
SPSSSH!
After her whip hit one of the dragons, a bolt of black lightning zapped out of her whip and hit the first dragon. That was only the start. Half a second later, the same bolt of black lightning zapped the next monster that was standing close by, dealing damage before jumping off to another dragon. With each jump, the lightning gained more damage. After twenty jumps, the black lightning had stacked so much damage that all the next monsters that were zapped were killed instantly. They were all Advanced Elite Level 80 monsters!
The black lightning continued to jump until the last of the monsters behind were killed and there were no more monsters left to jump on. The only few survivors were the first few monsters that the lightning had failed to kill.
"I'm impressed! You have gained a powerful skill!" cried Jiang Fei. The other players could not even bring themselves to comment on the overwhelmingly powerful skill. It was as close to a Forbidden Spell as it could get!
"This skill is not as powerful as you might think, my master. If the monsters were not standing too close, the lightning could not have jumped onto the next target," Akatziris explained to Jiang Fei. The skill was strong but it could be easily stopped. If the distance between the next target and the first target exceeded ten meters, the lightning would stop at the first target. Akatziris was only able to display the prowess of the skill since the monsters in the courtyard were packed together like sardines in a can!
"Mhm. That's good to know. We have bigger things to worry about now," said Jiang Fei as he saw a big shadow coming from the sky.
