CHAPTER 10
So, my family ignored me and abandoned me, then saved me and treated me well…
It seemed so totally unrealistic to me! I couldn’t believe the irony of all this. Many times, I would laugh in the near future of my predicament and find myself shaking my head in bewilderment. I also was convinced that this may not have happened so easily, if I had not started to cultivate at such an early age. If I had been an ordinary child, Talon would have just tried to take me to a ‘house’ outside of the estate, or whatever.
I shrugged, feeling lucky. I was going to take advantage of my own families stuff up and eat, drink and sleep well, while I could!
And, indeed, my life was a lot easier now, I even got a maidservant again!
It became official, that my name was ‘Sahara Rolland’ and I was the second daughter of Talon Rolland, the second son of the Right Minister.
A month later, the Rolland Estate celebrated my entrance into the family and I met everyone.
Finally, I had seen the first son, who was the one that had everyone talking about, with his cultivation reaching third rank. My opinion on him wasn’t very much, even to my own astonishment. What I saw, was another resemblance of my ‘stupid grandfather’, but more of a cold, detached look. Whereas, Talon showed his gentle, happy nature. They were so very different, yet looked somewhat the same.
I found something strange within the family, but didn’t want to put too much thought into it. If others couldn’t see the obvious groups of people, then I would think this family was even more stupid than before. The first son seemed to be a discrete leader and his ‘people’ stayed together. I sent a glance over to my ‘stupid grandfather’, only to see him smiling and praising his luck at such a lucky treasure being found by his son.
Did he know at all, that there was something suss here? Surely, he couldn’t be completely ignorant of this…
I sighed, I guess it really didn’t matter to me, because there isn’t much for me to do about it anyway.
Being dragged around, in my new father’s embrace, I decided not to bother with people fighting other people in one family, and continued to relax.
Seeing that people weren’t all ‘beautiful’, it made me happy. This was normal, I thought, as I saw only two or three ladies with exceptional looks…If I had to be surrounded by ‘beautiful’ people all the time…
Yeah, let’s just say that the books were ‘fantasy’ and leave it at that!
When it came to my self-confidence of looks, I wasn’t very good at it. Actually, in my previous life, I didn’t have a great face and for half of my life, I was overweight, but not to a degree of swollen ankles. Honestly, if I wasn’t so lazy and had worked hard for about a month or two, my weight would have been pretty good.
A few of the hundred people did want to hold me, but I would grasp at my new father strongly. As it was, I wasn’t used to being picked up, I only wanted Talon to have this experience. But that wasn’t the only reason, I was told to act like this, by Talon and my ‘stupid grandfather’ themselves.
The old madam got upset with me, but let it go. She saw that I seemed to be a quiet thing and she just tapped my head gently instead.
The rest of the females were not just my new auntie’s, but great aunts. For a moment of thinking about my real lineage and my new lineage, I was confused. I accidently would confuse myself, on whether a lady was my sister in law or my aunt. I would see a sixteen-year-old, who was really my sister but couldn’t think of what she was, since I was Talon’s daughter now.
But, the names! I could hardly remember any of them at all!
I was never good at names, I was better at faces and normally would say, ‘Oh you’re the one who I saw with…’.
I will have to work very hard to remember and how to formally acknowledge all of these people!
Through the game playing inside of my head on who was who, for the two of me’s, I came across someone that I had only seen once before…
My mother was there among them and…The boy that had dragged me outside of the estate!
