Lynk concludes it with that and, everybody sinks into silence. Monsters that appeared from the ground suddenly huh. Furthermore, in all four directions so they don’t let the people escape outside

“……This, feels like it’s intentional”

“Aa, I feel the same as well”

It seems Marie-san and Gand-san also think the same. From what I’ve heard, it seems the soldiers are investigating the holes the monsters appeared from but, because it’s rather deep and has a repulsive stench, there’s apparently almost no progress.

That’s something that can’t be helped. As far as I heard, the zombies were apparently in there for a couple of days. The stench of a zombie’s decay is really disgusting.

“And, I don’t know whether it’s true or not but, there were apparently suspicious people spotted in this town”

“Suspicious people?”

Everybody’s gazes gather on Gand-san after what he said. After hearing what Gand-san said, from the day the monsters attacked the town, there have apparently been sightings of a suspicious guy who wore a black robe in town.

The person’s motives aren’t known but, they seem to be walking around town. It’s just that, it seems the soldiers tried trailing that person but, they lose sight of them midway through.

“Isn’t that person obviously suspicious”

“Aa. But, it seems the person’s elusive, it’s not even known where or when that person will appear. Even when spotted occasionally, the person seems to be very slippery and the soldiers were shaken off”

“Uーn, besides, it’s not a definite that the said person is related to the case this time”

We who have reached a dead end fall into silence. Right now, the clues are, the holes where the monsters appeared and the suspicious black-robed person who appeared after the monsters attacked the town.

“Well, nothing can be done just by dwelling on it. We can’t do anything but to search”

That’s also right. Everybody nods to Lynk’s words. For the time being, we talked about our plans for tomorrow and everybody went to rest.

And the next day, we separated into two groups to investigate. We are investigating with the teams separated into, Gand-san and me, Lynk and Marie-san.

Marie-san complained to Lynk but, it’s the usual thing so we just watched. She’ll probably give up in time.

The Lynk and Marie-san pair is in charge of searching for the black-robed guy, we are in charge of investigating the holes that the monsters appeared from.

Separating from the two who are still disputing, Gand-san and I walk the streets. It’s not to the extent of yesterday but, my chest is in pain. The entire time since I entered this town. As I thought, is there something in this town?

“Oi, are you alright, Mylene. You look pale again, you know?”

“Ah, yes, I’m fine, Gand-san”

“Is that so? Well, don’t overdo it. We are relying on you”

I smile as I nod to Gand-san’s words. I can’t just be making everybody worry. I smile once again to Gand-san to show that I’m alright and, I walk ahead.

Gand-san looks as though he wants to say something but, he quietly follows after me. My apologies for making you worry.

After that, we walked for a little and, rather than the pain in the chest lessening, the pain gets worse as we get closer to the destination. As I thought, there’s probably something.

“Here is, one of the four holes. The soldiers are taking turns guarding so that n.o.body enters, nor any monsters exiting again”

As Gand-san said, four soldiers are standing as though to block the hole. Uu, the horrifying smell even drifts over here. It seems that the soldiers are also blocking their mouths and noses but, it looks terribly agonizing.

“This is terrible. It’s a horrifying stench”

“Even so, it can’t be closed. Since it’s the only proof of the incident this time”

After that, we went around looking at the other holes but, we went around without finding anything in particular. Uーn, the clues are even harder to find than we thought.

“Oo, isn’t it Mylene’s group”

When we were looking at the last hole, we hear a voice calling out to us. We turn back and, it’s Lynk and Marie-san who are approaching us.

“Yo! How did the investigation go?”

“It’s no use. I thought there might be something but, we found nothing”

“Us as well. We gathered for information but……”

“They’ve spotted the black-robed guy but, all of them don’t know who the person is. It seems they don’t even know the gender”

Uーn, if that’s the case, they wouldn’t know who it is if the robe is taken off huh. It’s a dead end.

“If that’s the case, shall we go ask the mayor once. We might be able to gather some information”

“You’re right. He’ll probably see us if we say we came under the request of the Feudal Lord”

That’s right, that’ll probably be better than just discussing here. We all head towards the mayor’s residence. When looked closely, along with the direction towards the mayor’s residence, the traces of the struggle gets even more intense. The traces of burning here and there is, probably because of the release of magic.

Furthermore, I wonder why, this atmosphere is. I also felt it from the hole but, it feels even more leaden than that. It increases as we move closer to the mayor’s residence.

“……Everybody, please be careful”

“Nn? What’s wrong, Mylene?”

“As we get closer to the mayor’s residence, the same atmosphere as the hole can be felt”

“That means……there’s a hole in the mayor’s residence?”

“I don’t know. I don’t know but, I think it’s better to be cautious”

There’s no evidence but, there’s something in that house. That’s how I feel. Lynk and the others also nod to what I said. While being cautious of the surroundings, we arrive at the mayor’s residence and, there are soldiers standing in front of the house.

“I’m sorry. We are under the orders of the Feudal Lord to investigate regarding the monsters that appeared in this town but, can I have you let us meet the mayor? We want to have a talk”

“……Please wait a moment”

The soldier went into the house to get confirmation, we received permission so, we went inside. It’ll be great if my premonition is off but……
