“Dad, do you really think your daughter is that kind of person? Although I stayed over at his place for two nights, nothing happened between us!” Wei Xingyue quickly explained.

She was more worried about Shi Lei, since it was nice to have a friend like him, even though he called her crazy and criticized her a lot. Wei Xingyue was scared that her father would misunderstand and cause trouble for him. From her father’s way of doing things, if she really had something to do with Shi Lei, she was worried that he might not live to see the sun rise. 

“Dad, although Shi Lei’s just a citizen, he’s definitely not a lecherous person. Do you not trust your daughter? How would I ever have something to do with him? For a guy like him, even if he had three bodies, he still wouldn’t be able to come close to me!” 

Wei Xingyue’s father snorted and said, “Don’t speak for him. You are the one I’m worried about! And that’s beyond the point. Look, if you didn’t continue to investigate him, then how did you get so close to him?”

“Dad!” Wei Xingyue panicked. 

Her father frowned and thought that she was acting strangely. 

Hiding his doubt, he asked again, “And? What did you get out of him?” 

Wei Xingyue had yet to recover from the shock, but continued to speak honestly, “After that, I found a reason to take him to the hospital to check the extent of the injury. We were together for about an hour or so but he didn’t seem special at all. He was rather kind. At least, he didn’t lose his sanity just by looking at me. He didn’t try to scam me, even though I hit him. I thought that there was some sort of misunderstanding, so I didn’t pay too much attention to it. I only left him with my contact number and never thought of contacting him again. I really didn’t.” 

“Fine, I believe you. But since you didn’t want to, then why did you in the end?” Wei Xingyue’s father leaned back on the chair and asked. 

“The next day after the car accident, I suddenly wanted to go out for a walk. I went by a street bar and thought of having a drink there. But only G.o.d knows how I met him there. And he has a girlfriend called Sun Yiyi. You already know that, right?” 

Seeing her father’s nod, she continued to speak. “But there was a young girl next to him that day, about sixteen or seventeen years old. It was strange, so I thought, ‘Oh, this guy doesn’t seem as eager as he actually is, even going as far as to do things to such a young girl.’”

Her father couldn’t help but to laugh after hearing what she said. “Don’t talk nonsense. I know Zhang Meimei and I’ve seen her at different occasions, but I’ve never talked to her before. What’s going on in your head? Why do you always see the opposite of what is true?” 

Wei Xingyue saw that the tense atmosphere had eased and she smiled. She pretended to be cute and said, “Dad, I was just saying that. Of course I know you won’t just eat whatever is in front of you when you are hungry. But Zhang Meimei is great. If I didn’t know her, I wouldn’t even be able to tell that she is forty years old.” 

“I told you to stop and you are more excited now?!” Her father narrowed his eyes and looked at her. 

“Well, I was just obsessed, you know,” Wei Xingyue said, giggling. “So after Shi Lei came out, he didn’t seem surprised, meaning that he must’ve discovered my presence a long time ago. I wanted to interact with him some more and get something out of him. So I dragged him to drink. But he was very closed off and didn’t say anything. If I didn’t try to converse with him, he wouldn’t talk at all. I didn’t know what to do, but I was curious. Plus, we met at the bar again, and I thought that it had to be fate. So I continued to drink with him. But who knew that he was such a lightweight? He cheated, not drinking that much, but I accidentally drank too much. I was safe during the night, so I thought that he really wasn’t a bad person. After we drank, I specifically asked him about Zhang Meimei and her daughter, as well as their normal level of interaction with each other.
