Chapter 28: The Wild-looking Man (3)
"No matter which great family it is, we common men aren't suitable to be either of their husbands. I heard, however, that the Poisonous Third Miss is also of marriageable age. Since the older sisters are so beautiful, the youngest one must be…"
"Do you want to die!? I wouldn't want that poisonous girl even if you threaten to chop my head off!"
Hearing this, An Yan's heart contracted painfully. Her expression seemed especially stiff and wooden.
"Boss, bring us a plate of pork and bok choy stuffed buns. Quickly!"
At this moment, a roar came from outside the shop. It seemed to shake the shop and almost all of the diners turned their gazes in the direction of the powerful shout.
An Yan, who sat on her own, remained calm and didn't move a muscle.
But it seemed she wouldn't be allowed to remain so motionless.
"Big Sis, is no one sitting here? If you don't mind then this little brother will sit here."
An earth-shattering voice sounded beside her ear, making it unignorable. 'A person cannot make such a voice sound from a human throat. Instead it must be some kind of howl from a beast residing in the mountains!'
Moreover, she was but an unmarried n.o.ble's daughter. She was just 15 years old yet was already being addressed as 'Big Sis'?
An Yan grew angry. 'Even though I'm not dressed up well, you don't have to call me a big sis!' She also didn't want the attention of the wild-looking men who swept their gaze past her. However, all of the seats other than the one beside her was occupied so she could only frown and say,
"Sit."
Her tone wasn't very polite. There wasn't a need to be polite since they wouldn't get acquainted.
The man saw An Yan's cold expression and shook his head. He sat down heavily and gave a sigh of pity and regret. An Yan, beside him, felt gloomy.
Finally, she raised her head to look at the tough man and was startled.
He really was a wild-looking man. With a tough and stocky build he also sported a stubbly beard and unkempt hair. It made one wonder when he last took a bath.
"Oh! So you're not a big sis but instead a young miss! You must have been born with attractive looks." An Yan hadn't said anything before the guy opened his mouth. Everytime he said young miss in that dissolute way of his, An Yan felt disgusted. However, while she didn't recognize it there was some familiarity in his voice.
Where did this rude man come from? He talked freely but An Yan didn't give any kind of response. And now she wasn't in any mood to eat the sesame bun in her hand. Her phoenix eyes slanted as she frowned, the pupils darkening.
But she was surprised to find that behind all that s.h.a.ggy hair his eyes appeared to shine as bright as a just-blooming lotus still covered with the early morning's dew. His gaze was clean but penetrating.
"If Young Miss looks at a person like that, she will make that person feel really shy." The wild-looking man still spoke in that hoa.r.s.e, world-shaking shout, as though he couldn't hear what people said.
An Yan cast another glance at him. The strong man charmingly glanced away when she did, allowing her eyes to fall upon his neck. Beneath his shirt she could see slim collar bone. It looked as thin as a pole, like it could be broken with a light snap. That collar bone was charming to the eyes and tugged at her memory of someone.
She tried to think of who he resembled and recalled everyone she had ever met. This man definitely wasn't a person she met before, but he certainly looked similar to someone.
Who was he?
