“Huh? Ah!”

When he touched his watch, he could tell that it was certainly past his lunch break time. Tatsumi always set an alarm for his clock-in time, lunch break, and clock-out time using an application on his computer, but he had been in such a daze he hadn’t noticed today’s alarm going off. Since he couldn’t see, moving quickly was difficult, so he did things early. Depressed he had wasted five minutes of his precious lunch break, Shimura tried to cheer him up. 

“Well, if it’s all right with you, why don’t we have lunch together?”

“Huh&h.e.l.lip;&h.e.l.lip;? With me?”

“Yes, with you, Konno-san. And two other people too.”

“Two other people?”

When he tilted his head, he heard the voices of two women behind her.

“Ichikawa.”

“Yamanoi.”

Ichikawa was hired at the same time as Shimura, and Yamanoi was hired at the same time as Tatsumi, but she was four years older than him. He recalled speaking to Yamanoi a little during their new employee orientation. He most likely had never spoken with Ichikawa before. He must have looked confused about why this was happening all of a sudden since Shimura spoke up jokingly. 

“It’s nothing sordid, I promise.”

“Well, since there were a bunch of things we wanted to talk about, these two will be representatives.”

“Representatives?”
