Varsha does housework even if maids are there and makes everyone happy. She also enjoys working in the vegetable garden along with grandpa. She also went for cloth shopping with Ira and ate outside and enjoyed immensely. Within few days Varsha came back to be her cheery self.
Some cousins of Akash specially Arpit and Akshay make fun of Varsha time to time but she only laughs and does not take it to heart. Akash feels irritated thinking seeing it because she is working like a fool and does not understand when people are making fun of her. He thought other than being dumb, she is ignorant as well.
Akash feels more irritated when he sees her being more attentive toward eldest uncle and Arpit and trying to get brownie points from them. He thought that she will avoid them and stick to those who love her but Varsha is the newest member of the family and she knows that it's her duty to strengthen the relations in the family and not break them. Grandpa and grandma could see this point and it made them happy.
One day one of the friends of the Grandpa visited in the evening and stayed for about two hours and saw how good Varsha is in her respect and attentiveness. He openly showed his envy toward grandpa Patel and he called Varsha an Ideal Daughter-In-Law. Grandpa could not stop boasting about that and feeling proud of his own choice of granddaughter-in-law.
On the dinner table, Grandpa Patel laughed and said "That friend of mine always shows off but today he got defeated by me due to my granddaughter-in-law. He has to call her an ideal daughter-in-law. Ha ha ha. His heart must have been burning while saying that. Ha ha ha."
Varsha felt shy when she looked at the admiring gazes of grandma and her mother-in-law and did not know what to say. She lowered her head and continued eating. But she is happy inside. Every step she is taking forward is to get the care and attention of her husband and making grandparents proud and happy is one of them. She is also happy that she could utilize all the teachings she received while growing up.
Eldest uncle snickered "Ideal but unwanted." He looked toward Akash and Varsha with mocking gaze.
Akash and Varsha both looked toward the eldest uncle with different expressions. Eyes of Varsha held surprise and sadness in them. She could not believe her feeling of happiness will be interrupted in such a way by the eldest uncle. It also felt hurtful to her that eldest uncle will keep holding grudge against her despite her efforts of the last two weeks to please him. She also does not understand why eldest uncle hates her so much.
Akash looked toward Varsha and thought "Now you will understand that being extremely humble will only make you look like a fool." He really wished to shout at her for being stupid but his pride won't allow him to show care to that dumb girl who is his wife.
Akash looked toward eldest uncle with an irritated gaze to which eldest uncle replied mockingly "Did I say anything wrong? What is the use of being ideal in the eyes of outsiders?"
Varsha could feel the hurt from the words. When she looked at the irritated expression of Akash, she could not decide the reason for it. How could he show to others that he doesn't love her? How can eldest uncle be so sure that her husband does not want her? It hurts to be exposed especially in the case where you are suffering due to one-sided love. She felt her vision turning hazy due to tears and she again lowered her head to continue eating from her plate.
Ira is observing Varsha and she gets angry seeing the hurt expression in her eyes and says "It takes time to be accepted, so being unwanted is nothing compared to holding grudge against children. It is also better than boasting without a backbone. Why don't we organize a business lecture for us? We are a business family and we need that. We can name the subject '100 ways of failing a business'."
This topic is the reverse scale of the eldest uncle. He has failed many times and has made grandpa angry as well. Grandpa always asks him to follow the lead but eldest uncle always wants to be the leader and he fails repeatedly in whatever plans he makes. He tries to prove himself and never follows grandpa's instructions. This is also the reason why Grandpa never trusts the eldest uncle for business decisions and that is why eldest uncle feels alienated and tries to make his own plans and business connections outside.
Eldest uncle looks toward Ira with a stern gaze and said "You should behave like a humble child in front of your elders. You are not yet fit to comment on your elder's decisions."
Ira is still feeling angry. She said "Looks like uncle knows that one should not comment on their elder's decision. But I believe uncle forgot that Grandpa is your elder and his decision should be respected. And whatever I said, I did not say it was for uncle but it seems uncle knows himself well. Self-awareness is good quality."
Akash also felt irritated when eldest uncle used 'unwanted' word. He also feels like eldest uncle has overstepped his boundary but he did not know how could he refute his words without showing his concern toward Varsha. Now he felt somewhat good about what Ira said and he could not force himself from smiling. Akash himself feels that eldest uncle have some grudge towards him because his son can not compete with him and now when he has married Varsha, this feeling has intensified.
Grandpa gets angry and said "Do you think we could force Akash if he did not want marriage. He is one of the best and many companies are lining up to embrace him but he is with us and accepted what his elders asked of him. Because in his heart he is not totally against this. Let me tell you all, we do business for the family. We don't do family for business. I'm proud of my grandson and feel happy that even after being one of the best, he listens to us, unlike others who have arrogance but nothing to support it."
Eldest uncle pushed the chair he is sitting on making it fall and stood up abruptly and leaves the dinner table showing his anger. Eldest aunt follows him after grandma signals her. Arpit looks toward Varsha who is looking dumbfounded toward where eldest uncle just left. She could not believe what just happened.
Arpit looks toward Varsha accusingly and said: "See, what have you done?"
The youngest uncle who is silent till now raised his head to Arpit and says "Learn to respect your elders. Even if you have a disagreement, disrespecting is not the solution. Elder brother is a bit rash and we are almost used to it but you don't have to follow in his footsteps."
Grandpa raised his hand and everyone quieted down and then he looks at Varsha lovingly and said "Dear, you are here because our family needs you. Don't doubt yourself due to unreasonable comments. And also you have not done any wrong, everyone is a slave of their own mentality and if they are suffering it's their own fault. You can not be responsible for the selfishness of others." Then he turned to Ira and said showing fake anger "Control that tongue of yours. Even if elders are wrong, try to be patient and don't forget your manners."
Ira pouted "If someone says like that to my sister-in-law, I don't care who it is. Even if it is elder brother, he has to hear an earful from me."
Varsha felt emotional seeing Ira talking for her like that and felt sad seeing the silence of Akash throughout the dinner. Maybe he was silent due to respect toward elders like herself, she thought.
Varsha looked lovingly toward Ira and said "You should not have disrespected uncle even if his words were a bit harsh. Everyone needs time to adjust with the changes."
Grandma still heard what Varsha said and could not stop herself from praising "As expected of our dear Varsha. That old man did not say wrong."
Varsha is feeling a bit guilty about what just happened but she is also feeling happy due to Ira and listening to the praise of her husband from the grandpa. She forgot that she is also being praised as an ideal daughter in law.
