Xia Rongrong didn’t expect Su Qiubai to hug her suddenly. Her heart was beating a lot faster when she was in his arms.
She didn’t know whether she should push Su Qiubai away, or whether she wanted to push him away.
On the other hand, Su Qiubai felt awkward!
He only knew that when both of his arms were around her tightly, he could smell her faint scent, then he didn’t know what to do next.
The situation was stiff for more than ten seconds.
Darn it… w.a.n.g Cai barked!
Both of them were shocked, then they panicked and separated themselves from each other. When they turned their backs, they saw the two dogs staring at each other.
Xia Rongrong’s face was a little red, and Su Qiubai’s eyes were frantically glancing all around. Then Xia Rongrong waved at her little white dog and it ran straight into her arms.
Su Qiubai coughed and then waved at w.a.n.g Cai.
However, w.a.n.g Cai just stared at him, then turned and walked over to the pile of antiques. Su Qiubai was so annoyed at it that he almost considered slapping it.
After the awkwardness slowly faded away, Su Qiubai and Xia Rongrong returned to the initial question.
“How much more effort does the Xia Group has to put in to become a Super Group?”
Su Qiubai asked gently after pouring a gla.s.s of water for Xia Rongrong.
Xia Rongrong thought for a moment before answering, “There are more than 20 Super Groups in the world, and three of them are in China. These three Super Groups possess strong capital and force… The Xia Group is still far away from being one. We may have been a four-level consortium last time but that’s not the case now…”
Xia Rongrong’s words were very pertinent.
Su Qiubai also knew that the grading between the consortium was very strict, and given the Xia Group’s current size, it was definitely far worse than a fourth level.
Therefore, the next goal… was to bring Xia Group back to its fourth-level consortium!
Then strive for Level 3, Level 2… and finally, Super!
What was certain was that when Xia Group really became a Super Group, everything that Xia Tian had previously said about that person betraying the country wouldn’t be a problem anymore. Su Qiubai had the confidence that he would be able to compete with that person, instead of hiding from him now!
“What do you need to do to regain the strength of a fourth-level consortium?”
Su Qiubai continued to ask.
Xia Rongrong thought for a long time before answering him.
“The consortium’s grading happens once a year. This year’s grading is over, but the next one is in June next year! If we can meet the requirements before then, we’re good!”
Xia Group had been at risk for years, so it had long strayed away from the grading.
But Xia Rongrong had grown up in such an environment so she was familiar with the flow of this kind of grading.
“Alright! Then we’ll achieve it before June next year! How far are we now?”
Su Qiubai was motivated, he stood up and his voice was much louder.
However, when he looked down, he saw Xia Rongrong looking at him calmly. Before he could respond, he heard her replied, “It’s still a long way to go. It’s almost impossible to meet the requirements by June next year…”
Her words were a little depressing. Su Qiubai pointed at the antiques and asked. “If we include all of this?”
Xia Rongrong still shook her head. “The rating of the consortium isn’t a simple financial resources compet.i.tion. There are many other factors, such as strength, influence, cultural value…”
“Forget it, you don’t have to tell me this, I don’t understand… So what’s your plan?”
Su Qiubai only felt dizzy, listening to her explanation so he interrupted her and asked.
Xia Rongrong just kept quiet. After a while, she looked up and said, “I need to think about this. If our goal is to become a Super Group, then our every step is very important!”
“Alright! If there’s any problems, tell me, I’ll solve it for you!”
Su Qiubai took a deep breath and promised.
At that time, no one knew about the journey that the Xia Group was about to embark on in such an ordinary small room, with Xia Rongrong’s embryonic plan in her mind, and Su Qiubai’s promise,
The two of them discussed this till the early hours of the morning. Finally, because Su Qiubai was worried about Xia Rongrong’s health, he led her into his room and told her that they could continue the discussion when she woke up.
It was really strange. Xia Rongrong had been having sleepless nights for a long time but in Su Qiubai’s ordinary small bed, she slept very well.
She might have been thinking about Su Qiubai, who was lying on the sofa, and that they were only separated by a door, so she felt a different kind of incitement. This also led her to dream of something shameful.
Su Qiubai was also in a similar mood. The only difference was that Xia Rongrong slept soundly but he couldn’t sleep at all. His mind was filled with the events that happened that night.
Holding hands… and then hugging!
At the thought of it, his heart would feel a strong burning sensation, as if a string in him that hadn’t been moving for a long time, was suddenly pulled…
They woke up at about the same time next day.
Because of the dream she dreamed last night, Xia Rongrong felt a little embarra.s.sed seeing Su Qiubai. On the other hand, Su Qiubai was staring at her. The more he looked at her, the prettier he thought of her.
The situation was a bit subtle but no one said a word.
Without further delay, Xia Rongrong arranged a trustworthy man to come over to transport the antiques. But for safety sake, they still wrapped the antiques safely in bags and boxes.
Finally, after all the things had entered Xia Group’s safety vault, they felt relieved.
After that, Xia Rongrong began to fully prepare for the next trade fair. But the problem that had been expected before resurfaced.
Where could she get the authentication certificate for this batch of antiques that had unknown origin?
Xia Rongrong mentioned this problem to Su Qiubai but he was completely unaware of the difficulty of this matter. He just took the scammer’s phone number and the missing employee’s contact information and address from Xia Rongrong.
They were too naive to think they could escape after scamming such a huge amount of money from Xia Group!
Su Qiubai intended to handle those scammers first, then he would wait until the trade fair was over to look over Xia Rongrong’s detailed plan and decide what was the next step!
It was at this time that Su Qiubai received a call from Gu Chengya.
If it wasn’t for the call, he had completely forgotten about Gu Chengya.
Picking up the phone, it turned out that Mr. Dongfang couldn’t wait any longer.
Su Qiubai had already made a promise to him so he couldn’t just back out now. Besides, the emperors’ calligraphy works were ready.
However, when he asked Mr. Dongfang where should they meet, Mr. Dongfang hesitated.
“Sorry, little brother, I happen to have a few old friends at Qinghe City. They also want to see the works. So…”
Upon hearing this, Su Qiubai immediately understood.
It was no big deal. Although he didn’t know who were Mr. Dongfang’s friends, he had nothing to worry about since Mr. Dongfang was quite reputable.
“No problem, then where should we meet? I can bring the work to you!”
Mr. Dongfang was glad that Su Qiubai agreed eagerly.
The calligraphy works from the Qin and Han dynasties were too valuable. One would have to be extremely lucky for three lifetimes to get to have a look at the work!
“There’s a small room in Qinghe Museum in the center of the city. Can you bring them now?”
Actually, it would be more reasonable for them to visit Su Qiubai, instead of the other way round. But since they were older, Su Qiubai took the initiative to bring the works to them.
After that, Su Qiubai hung up the call and drove to the museum.
At Xia Rongrong’s side, just as she was worried about the antiques authentication, she suddenly received a message.
“Are you sure that those old gentlemen are in the museum? Even Mr. Dongfang is there?”
This was good news to Xia Rongrong. She totally didn’t expect it.
“Yes, they are.”
“Okay, I’m going over now!”
After hanging up the phone, Xia Rongrong notified the other responsible persons. This antique authentication was crucial for Xia Group.
Although she didn’t know why Mr. Dongfang was here, this kind of certification was a simple task for him!
But… would he agree to help?
Having that thought, Xia Rongrong suddenly felt worried.
Su Qiubai visited the museum in Qinghe City several times, but he used to drop off his customers and then left the place. He had never been inside before.
He went back home to pick up the calligraphy works first before he rushed over.
On the way, the old gentleman was so eager that he called Su Qiubai once more to remind him.
When Su Qiubai arrived and parked the car, someone was already on his way to welcome him.
What he didn’t expect was that it was Gu Chengya waiting to pick him up.
“I’m telling you this in advance, there may be more people inside than you think.”
Gu Chengya didn’t talk much. She just smiled and said this sentence.
This made Su Qiubai feel somewhat awkward. Didn’t Mr. Dongfang said only a few old friends? How many people could there be?
Before he could ask, Gu Chengya continued to explain, “You may not know how rare calligraphy works from the Qin and Han dynasties are in this country. For these old experts, nothing will attract them more than this. So even though Teacher Dongfang just told one person, many people arrived by plane last night…”
Gu Chengya explained this very sincerely. She was also worried that Su Qiubai would have some difficulties with too many people visiting.
Although it was true that this was beyond his expectations, Su Qiubai wasn’t angry.
Instead, he understood these old people. He had devoted all his contributions to his country for a lifetime. For them, perhaps the restoration of a cultural relic was more enjoyable than any gold and silver treasure.
So Su Qiubai nodded in response. He was ready.
However, when he actually entered and saw the number of people in the museum, he was still taken aback!
This wasn’t a small gathering at all. It was literally like being in a conference room, and worst of all, everyone was gray-haired old people. Seeing Su Qiubai stepped into the hall with a box in his hands, everyone’s eyes shone with an indescribable joy.
Mr. Dongfang was the first to stand up and walk towards Su Qiubai.
He was quite worried that Su Qiubai would turn and exit with anger. If that was the case, then it would be a waste of time for everyone to make their way over here today. However, he noticed the glance by Gu Chengya, and was instantly relieved.
“Mr. Dongfang, these are all… your friends?”
Su Qiubai’s words sounded a bit forced. He wasn’t worried about the number of people affecting himself. He was mainly afraid of all of them questioning him about the origins of these works.
“Oh… Yes, almost all of them are my friends. The local circle is really big. When they heard that there are Qin and Han dynasties calligraphy, they all came over… But I can a.s.sure you that no one will cause trouble for you. We just want to have a look at it!”
Seeing the fears on Su Qiubai’s face, Mr. Dongfang said very sincerely.
Su Qiubai felt much more relieved after listening to Mr. Dongfang.
Subsequently, Mr. Dongfang introduced Su Qiubai to everyone, and emphasized that he was the owner of these works.
Everyone had been waiting patiently earlier. After knowing that Su Qiubai was the owner, all of them greeted him politely.
These people were clearly well-known experts of the country, but the way they held on Su Qiubai’s hand and greeted him as if he was their little brother made Su Qiubai feel like he had aged a lot, to the point that he could even call Gu Chengya his granddaughter.
Anyway, the focus of the exhibition was him, so although Su Qiubai felt that a formal introduction was necessary, Mr. Dongfang still introduced him everyone one by one.
Finally, everyone watched Su Qiubai stepped up the stage, and opened the box.
“For your information, my ancestors were big officials last time, that’s why my family owns these things. Today, I’ll show them to all of you respectable seniors…”
Su Qiubai had previously thought of what to say. As for whether or not people would believe what he said, he couldn’t care less about their opinions!
Anyway, he didn’t plan to sell it! So there was no need for any authentication certificate or anything!
Everyone just nodded. Those things didn’t belong to them anyway, so even if they thought his words were unreasonable, they couldn’t say anything at this moment.
Su Qiubai opened the box. All the old experts put on their gla.s.ses and began to look carefully.
Meanwhile, after Xia Rongrong had received the news, she rushed to the museum.
Although she still didn’t know why Mr. Dongfang would come to Qinghe City, she couldn’t miss the chance to meet him, because if she missed him, then she really had no other way to settle the antique authentication.
Her car had been speeding along the way, but she still felt that it was too slow.
In her mind, she thought of Su Qiubai’s words last night, and the Xia Group’s future goal to become a Super Group. This made Xia Rongrong feel an indescribable motivation and pressure at the same time!
Although she didn’t know what her relationship with Su Qiubai was, she chose not to hesitate to support this man!
Because of this, the antique authentication mustn’t be done sloppily.
China’s antique buying and selling requirements had to be professionally qualified, to prevent cultural relics from being sold or even lost to overseas buyers.
Therefore, the authentication was the key factor that determined whether she could carry out the trade fair, and it was also the initial step that determined whether Xia Group could proceed to becoming a Super Group!
All these reasons made Xia Rongrong very determined to do every step perfectly.
While she was anxiously waiting in the car, the car finally stopped at the entrance of the museum.
After getting out of the car, she entered the museum with her a.s.sistant and few other responsible people following closely behind her.
However, Xia Rongrong was directly rejected when she tried to inform the guards that she wanted to see the experts!
The reason was very simple. The experts had arrived at Qinghe City last night. Their trip was entirely private. Even the workers from the museum had no right to see the experts.
Finally after explaining several times, the guards told Xia Rongrong that the experts were having a meeting in the conference room, and that she could wait at the aisle for the experts. When they were done with their meeting, she might have the chance to meet them.
Although doing this was a matter of testing her luck, and she might even lose her reputation, it was all for the good of Xia Group. She had to do this if she wanted to meet the experts.
Anyway, it wasn’t the time to care about this now. It was like what Mr. Dongfang and Su Qiubai said before.
The local circle was so big. If you wanted to look for an expert to help you with antique authentication, they were the only qualified ones.
She had the luck that all of them were at Qinghe City today. If she missed this chance, she would really regret it.
So, just like that, Xia Rongrong and her people went directly to the aisle next to the conference room.
Unexpectedly, there were already a lot of people queueing at the door.
Xia Rongrong was also stunned, seeing this scene.
Who would have thought that this situation would occur!
If she really had to queue at the back, perhaps she couldn’t even get the chance to meet anyone after the meeting was over.
It was such a chaotic scene. Thankfully, the security guards didn’t force everyone out.
a.s.sistant Luo Qing initially thought about communicating with the people in front to see if they could switch places with them in the queue.
But no one agreed to switch places with them. Some people even sneered at them.
They were shouting at her, “If you don’t have the abilities to go into the conference room yourself, then you better just stay in the queue like everyone else! Who do you think you are to head to the front first!”
Luo Qing was scolded badly that Xia Rongrong immediately dragged her back.
They were here to settle things, not to quarrel with other people today.
Xia Rongrong quietly warned her people that although the situation was helpless, it seemed that that was the only possibility now!
So the few of them waited at the door, trying to test their luck to see if they could seize the opportunity.
About five or six minutes later, Luo Qing suddenly pulled Xia Rongrong’s arm.
Xia Rongrong turned to her strangely, then she noticed Luo Qing’s eyes were focusing in one direction.
Xia Rongrong followed her gaze and was instantly stunned.
That…Isn’t that Su Qiubai! Why is he here?
Luo Qing felt as if her brain could no longer comprehend this, so she directly yelled out Su Qiubai’s name.
In the hall, Su Qiubai was bored listening to those old men, so he came out to go to the washroom. All of a sudden, he heard someone shout his name.
Turning towards the sound, he also became stunned.
Why is Xia Rongrong here?
