Chapter 38 - Touring
Yu Tang stood blankly in place, his entire person turned stupid. He stared blankly as Song Xiao ran into the housing estate, and only then did he think of chasing after him. However, Song Xiao had already run off without a trace.
Slowly raising his hand, he touched the spot where he had been kissed. It was slightly moist and still felt soft and warm. Yu Tang blinked, his tone serene as he asked Dugu An, who was standing in the shadows, “Anyi, did you see?”
“Replying to the emperor, this one saw,” Dugu An honestly replied.
“What did you see?” Yu Tang turned to look at him with dark eyes.
“This subordinate…” Dugu An dropped his head, unsure whether to say it or not. Secret guards knew everything about their masters, and they wouldn’t reveal it to outsiders, even on pain of death. When his master asked, however, he had to reply plainly. But when the emperor asked him about small details, such as the emperor being intimate with the empress, Dugu An had to express that he didn’t know anything firmly.
“You saw the empress take the initiative to kiss zhen, didn’t you?” Yu Tang stood under the streetlamp with one hand behind his back, his expression solemn. With the appearance of one who disdained the whole world, he turned and left with slow steps. “Zhen wants to walk for a while; all of you follow.”
Dugu An told the driver to drive the car slowly, while he followed five steps behind the emperor, hidden in the shadows of the trees. He looked on helplessly as the emperor picked up his pace.
On the roadside, there was a beggar resting as he sat, and Yu Tang took out a few large banknotes and threw them down. On the road, there was an uncle sweeping the streets, and Yu Tang walked over to shake his hand. On the sidewalk was a drunkard beating his wife, and Yu Tang knocked him down with a kick.
His Majesty the Emperor received many thanks on the road, and he replied, “You’re welcome,” with a smile on his face.
The chauffeur, who was driving at a tortoise’s pace, quirked his lips, then asked Dugu An outside his window, “What’s going on with the eldest young master? Did the school a.s.sign them to study Lei Feng?”
Dugu An: “…”
From afar, he saw a thin youth run into the path of a luxury car that was traveling slowly. Yu Tang pulled the youth back and said, “You’re welcome. Zhen is very happy today.”
The lips of the youth he had helped twitched. Watching as that luxury car disappeared in a cloud of dust, he shoved Yu Tang away. “So what if you’re happy ah, can’t you see that this great one was in the middle of an accident scam?”
Yu Tang: “…Anyi.”
“Yes!” The devoted secret guard immediately showed himself, and with a shoulder throw, pressed the scam artist to the ground.
In Yu Tang’s two incarnations, this was the first time Song Xiao had taken the initiative to kiss him!
When they were in Great Yu, Song Xiao had maintained the reserve of a scholar, and would rarely take the initiative with such intimate actions. Now, in the modern era, he would proactively pull on Yu Tang’s hand, proactively lean against his shoulder, and even go so far as to proactively kiss him!
After performing a bunch of good deeds on the road in the bright and clear evening, the emperor returned home, and when his sister threw herself at him, he picked her up and spun her around. He then went to dig out his little brother, who was still asleep, and lifted him high.
“Wah!” His little brother opened his eyes, and when he discovered that he was floating in the air, he was so scared he cried “wawa” loudly. When he landed and realized that he was in his brother’s hands, he was promptly frightened to tears.
When Song Xiao returned home, he first ran to the sink to wash his hot face and cool it down. He looked at his reflection and let out a long sigh.
To be reincarnated and still remember one another – Song Xiao deeply treasured this second chance from the heavens. He didn’t have the slightest intention of repeating the disasters of their last life, and he only thought that he should treat the emperor a little better. When he saw the emperor’s dejected appearance just now, he had felt the urge to comfort him a little.
“Xiaoxiao, what’s the matter?” Song Zicheng called from the living room. He saw his son come in just now and rush straight for the bathroom, and thought that it might even be diarrhea.
“Oh, I’m fine.” Song Xiao shook his head and walked into the living room.
“Come here; dad has some things to say to you.” Song Zicheng patted the sofa and had Song Xiao take a seat. “Dad thought about it, and decided not to marry Zhuo Jingjing.”
He had truly been disgusted by the matter this time and didn’t even have the heart to look for a new lover. Good.
Song Xiao nodded. “It’s good that father can see clearly. It’s still better to remarry someone of similar standing, a good and virtuous person.”
Given their family circ.u.mstances, it was impossible to look for a lady from a highly aristocratic family. However, finding someone from a regular merchant household was possible. Moreover, modern society was so open-minded, and marrying a second time was also fine, as long as the person was good.
Song Zicheng nodded, but currently wasn’t in the mood to consider remarriage. “Dad will be busier in the next two months, so I might not be back on the weekends. If you need something, have Xiao Si handle it or come and look for me at the company.”
The three films that were being released in the latter half of the year were the key to recouping the company’s losses, so he had to pay attention personally. The waves stirred up by the scandal had yet to settle, and currently, there was a sense of unease in the company, so he could only be there to watch over everything.
The week-long holiday pa.s.sed very quickly. His school bag on his back, Song Xiao returned to school. When he opened the door to his dorm room, he was startled. Stepping back out, he looked carefully at the door plate. It was indeed 520. Opening the door again, Song Xiao rubbed his eyes.
The dormitory’s appearance had changed entirely. The original bright and clean floor tiles had become a thick woolen carpet. The two narrow beds had disappeared without a trace and were replaced with a s.p.a.cious and cozy double bed. Their original short-legged table was now a long bar counter with two stools and a rack above it from which a few wine gla.s.ses hung upside down. Under the bar counter was a small fridge, and Yu Tang was taking out a can of c.o.ke from it. Opening it, he poured it into a gla.s.s filled with ice.
“This is…” The corner of Song Xiao’s lips turned up.
Yu Tang held the gla.s.s and sipped the soda. His graceful and unhurried posture was exactly the same as when he drank fine liquor in court back then. “Is the empress still unsatisfied?”
Satisfied, your head! Song Xiao rubbed the veins on his forehead. It was enough for a student dorm to be clean and neat – did it have to be this lavish? More importantly, how had he gotten the school to approve him putting in a double bed?!
“The student union is now responsible for dorm inspections.” Yu Tang put down his c.o.ke and pulled the still stunned empress over, taking his school bag from him. “It’s not a big deal.”
Your Majesty, this is embezzlement! Song Xiao took a deep breath and looked at that excessively large bed. He then looked at the face of the incapable ruler Yu Tang, who had ‘lit the beacons and played the feudal princes, just to win a beauty’s smile’. The words were on the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed them back down, and his shoulders dropped helplessly. Forget it, as long as the emperor was happy. He didn’t know if it was because of that unexpected kiss, but Song Xiao felt that the emperor seemed much more relaxed than before.
After he took a shower and came out, he saw the emperor leaning against the bed’s headboard with one leg propped up as he read a book. Seeing Song Xiao come out, Yu Tang raised his head to look at him, then patted the spot next to him and indicated that Song Xiao should come over.
It wasn’t cramped anymore after switching to a double bed, but serving in bed every full moonbecame every night. Song Xiao climbed in reluctantly.
Yu Tang put down his book and gathered the empress, who was tender from the steamy shower, into his embrace and pulled out Song Xiao’s left hand to examine it. The area that had been scalded previously had already healed. However, a layer of skin had peeled off, and the new, tender flesh wasn’t quite the same color as the surrounding skin.
“It’s fine.” Song Xiao took back his hand and threw aside the towel he had used to dry his hair as he burrowed into the quilt.
Yu Tang’s eyes darkened as he placed the thick book by the head of the bed and dove under the quilt as well, capturing the empress who was about to roll to the side again. Hugging him, Yu Tang buried his head in Song Xiao’s still moist neck and rubbed his nose against it.
Song Xiao was unable to restrain a soft groan at a light lick to his neck.
“Staying the night at a friend’s house, or if a bride is visiting the parents, bed activities are not allowed. But that is your husband’s house.” Yu Tang’s movements were gentle, but his words were icy. “That night, you weren’t telling the truth.”
Song Xiao pursed his lips, silent.
“You kissed zhen…” Yu Tang dropped his gaze, hiding the churning emotions in his eyes. “Zhen will let you off.”
This was precisely what it was like in their last life. They seemed very intimate, but they didn’t know what the other was thinking, and there seemed to be a distance between them. As for Yu Tang, he was long used to enduring it.
It was just that his desires were still somewhat hard to bear in the end. Yu Tang opened his mouth and bit that smooth and round shoulder under his lips.
“Ah…” Song Xiao let out a m.u.f.fled groan at the pain in his shoulder and struggled reflexively, but was firmly held still.
Yu Tang propped himself up to look at him from above.
Both Song Xiao’s hands were pressed against the pillow, and he stared blankly as the emperor slowly closed in. Thin, slightly cold lips touched his, but didn’t press in; only after touching for a long while did their lips slowly part.
This kiss was filled with all that life had to offer.
Across a millennia, the country had changed, and while things remained the same, people did not. At first, I believed I lost everything and had to start anew, but I discovered that you were here as well. In that case, I had lost nothing at all.Except, why are you still lying to me…
After all was said and done, the emperor who had endured silently still couldn’t help revealing his weak side in front of his beloved.
Song Xiao gazed at Yu Tang above him and pursed his lips as his face gradually turned red. “I… it’s been so long already since I awakened, but this body still… still hasn’t had a wet dream.”
He himself was somewhat afraid of serving in bed, coupled with the fact that this body was still small and simply hadn’t matured yet, he was worried that it would injure his foundations. This sort of matter was already difficult to speak about, but he then also remembered that he was initially a mature, twenty-seven-year-old man who had become a child whose hair hadn’t even grown. Moreover, he still wasn’t quite able to…
Yu Tang looked at the empress who had turned into a boiled shrimp below him and immediately felt distressed. How could he have forgotten? His empress was currently still a youth who was barely sixteen. This previously autistic body was frail and couldn’t compare with his, which had been tempered over many years.
Relaxing his body and lying back down, he embraced the empress who had turned his back to his emperor because he was embarra.s.sed. Yu Tang lowered his head and kissed the shoulder that he had bitten until it bled just now. “I’m the one who’s wrong.”
Song Xiao’s body hadn’t matured, so if he spent his energy freely, it would lead to a deficiency in his body, which he wouldn’t be able to replenish in the future no matter what he tried. Yu Tang didn’t dare tease him again. He still wanted to be with his empress until their hair turned white with old age, so he couldn’t harm his body during their youth.
After the two of them resolved this misunderstanding, they were more intimate than before. When Yu Tang saw that Song Xiao’s hand had healed, he once again threw his homework at his empress with a clear conscience.
In the blink of an eye, it was the day of Sheng Meng Middle School’s visit. Every member of the student union was dispatched, and they were so busy that their feet didn’t touch the ground.
The large bus with a brilliantly colored ‘S-M’ painted on its side slowly came to a stop in front of the gates of Sheng Meng High, and the supervising teacher guided everyone off the bus while holding a small yellow flag aloft. Students bearing the mark of the student union then cordially came forward to show the way as they welcomed the middle school students and took them on tour.
Seeing how capable the president of the student union was, the educational administration department had let Yu Tang determine the entire itinerary. The members of the student union first brought everyone to meet the administrators, then presented them with the day’s itinerary.
The vice president was the one leading them, and he said calmly, “In the morning, everyone will tour the school grounds and visit the school building, dormitory, and library. At noon, you will experience our canteen for yourself. The tea party is in the afternoon, where you will have a meet-and-greet session with your seniors. At the same time, there will be theatrical performances, where everyone can display their talents as they like.”
The supervising teacher was very satisfied with this itinerary, and the middle school students were very eager to tour the school grounds.
Song Zheng followed the group and looked around curiously. It was rumored that those four shaoyes were very famous in high school; perhaps, she would be able to see them.
Sheng Meng’s library was comparable with a university’s. Before the grand building, the president daren, who was wearing the black uniform suit, stood at the top of the steps, tall and straight. Behind him were the heads of each department and the silent Dugu An.
“Welcome to everyone who has come to Sheng Meng High.” Given his innate n.o.ble air and that incomparably handsome face, the group of middle schoolers looked at the tag with the word ‘President’ on his chest and were immediately won over.
“So – so handsome…” a few of the girls couldn’t help crying out in low voices.
Song Zheng also couldn’t help taking a few more casual looks, and then saw Song Xiao next to the president.
If a man had a good temperament, he would be very handsome in a suit. Song Xiao had the inherent n.o.ble temperament that modern people didn’t have, and when he wore the same suit which Sheng Meng gave to all their students, he looked gentle and cultured, and extraordinarily handsome.
“The president is so handsome ah.” A few young female students on tour huddled together as they spoke.
“I think that that boy next to the president is even better looking.” Another girl had a different opinion.
“That’s right, that boy is also very handsome!” The girl who spoke up first squinted at Song Xiao for a while, then a light bulb suddenly appeared above her head. “Isn’t he that, what’s it called, gelatin dessert – ah no, pudding gongziah!”
Listening to the girls, Song Zheng rolled her eyes. Song Zicheng had suppressed the recent scandal, and the students in school didn’t know that she was Qiu Mingyan’s daughter. These girls were all rich and powerful; if they knew that she was familiar with Song Xiao, maybe they would think highly of her.
Considering this, when they were touring the dormitory, Song Zheng deliberately squeezed herself in beside Song Xiao and said, “Song Xiao, why didn’t you say h.e.l.lo when you saw me?”
The vice president was currently introducing the dormitory’s water boiler, and when he saw Song Zheng step out and cause a disturbance, he frowned in annoyance.
Yu Tang narrowed his eyes slightly, then made a secret gesture at Dugu An.
