Chapter 113 - Breakup
When Yu Taixian saw Yu Tang, the smile was immediately wiped off his face and he snorted coldly. “Since I couldn’t take care of you over the phone, I came in person to hear what else you have to say.”
Yu Tang lowered his head slightly and looked as if he was listening earnestly to grandfather, tugging on his little brother’s ear in pa.s.sing. “I think that what you said is correct; the Yu family cannot lack male descendants.”
When Yu laoyezi heard this, his eyes brightened as he wondered ifhis grandson had finally gotten over it. If Yu Tang was only playing around with Song Xiao, and obediently married a woman after he had enough, that was fine. The future head of the Yu family could like men, but could never marry one!
Who knew that Yu Tang would go in a different direction with what he said next. “The Yu family now have male heirs in abundance, so there’s no need to worry about this.”
Yu Lin covered his ears and raised his head to look at his grandfather, who still hadn’t reacted. He could only brace himself and drill further into his grandpa’s bosom as he pretended to hide from his brother, in order to draw his grandpa’s attention.
Yu Taixian lowered his head to look at Yu Lin in his embrace, and finally realised Yu Tang’s meaning. Indeed, the Yu family now didn’t lack sons. He also had this small grandson, and Yu Taiying and Yu Taixing also had many grandsons. This reason that they would lack direct male descendantsclearly didn’t hold water…
“I said no, so no!” Yu Taixian felt like he was being pulled in by Yu Tang. There might not be any need to worry about descendants now, but the Yu family head still needed to be a normal man. “Don’t think that you can disobey me just because you have some capability. I can take back that little bit of power in your hands anytime! Give me a definite answer: do you want Song Xiao, or the Yu family?!”
The meaning of this sentence was clear: Yu Tang had to choose whether he wanted the position of family head or true love.
Yu Tang lowered his eyes, hiding the icy expression in them.
Mother Yu was very anxious, and walked over from the side to tug on Yu Tang’s arm. “You see, you’ve made grandpa mad. Hurry up and admit your mistake.”
The other male cousins looked like they were enjoying a good show, and no one delighted more in his misfortune than Yu Lang, who stood behind the family head. He smiled insincerely and said, “Yu Tang, it’s not that your ninth uncle didn’t help you. Now you have to make a choice to break up or leave the household empty-handed.”
As he spoke, Yu Lang opened the safety deposit box behind him and took out a pile of doc.u.ments. Before coming, Yu Taixian had already prepared all sorts of agreements. If Yu Tang chose Song Xiao, he would be swept out the door. At that time, not only would he lose his position as Yu family head, he wouldn’t even be able to keep this territory in China.
In reality, Yu Taixian mostly wanted to frighten his grandson, but Yu Lang putting it that way made it clear: If Yu Tang didn’t break up with Song Xiao, he would leave the household!
Ever since these two arrived in America, Yu Lang had always paid attention. The two of them were childhood sweethearts, and also went through a life-or-death situation together. They had even come out in public to the whole nation, so breaking up was impossible. He was just waiting for Yu Tang to impulsively say that he would leave the household.
Yu Lang was already imagining the miserable scenario of Yu Tang in dire straits going to another company to work. Who knew if that true love Song Xiao would really stay with him then.
In an instant, everyone had many thoughts. Yu Lin looked at his brother nervously, and hoped that he wouldn’t be impetuous. After all, Emperor Jingyuan was a monarch who was much more stubborn than Emperor Hongyuan.
Mother Yu was very nervous and shook her son’s arm.
Yu Tang slowly raised his gaze and sneered. “I’ll break up.”
“Ah?” All the jaws of the Yu family members dropped, and even Yu Taixian was taken aback as the room fell silent for several seconds. So direct and efficient k2013; why had they gone round in so many circles?
Song Xiao returned to their little apartment from A City. Exhausted, he took a shower, then lay in bed, lost in thought.
His father was much easier to deal with in this life than in the last one. Though, he had been very difficult to convince as well…
“If you do this, the Song family will no longer have heirs! How can I explain that to your grandpa?!”
“This son has no choice.” Song Xiao knelt before his father and said the same words as in his last life. The Song family in his last life couldn’t go against the imperial family. In this life, the Yu family were unable to forcefully take in a male wife, but Song Xiao would never choose anyone except for Yu Tang.
Song Zicheng raised his hand and wanted to hit him, but after it hung in the air for a long time, he still couldn’t hit Song Xiao in the end. When all was said and done, he felt ashamed in his heart. It was he who had not taken care of his son, and who had caused Song Xiao to become like this.
Lying in bed, Song Xiao turned over to bury his face in the blankets before he sighed. He was doomed to be an unfilial son.
After some thought, Song Zicheng ended up compromising and told Song Xiao to bring Yu Tang back for the New Year. Buried under the quilt, Song Xiao couldn’t help the way his eyes curved. Obtaining your parent’s consent was naturally a wonderful thing.
He kept his eyes open and waited for Yu Tang to return so that he could share the news with him properly. Yu Tang still didn’t return after Song Xiao waited for so long, and he fell asleep in a daze.
The sky was already bright by the time Yu Tang returned. Seeing that Song Xiao had fallen asleep in bed without covering himself, he immediately frowned and pulled over the blankets that were on one side to cover him properly.
Song Xiao sleepily opened his eyes and saw the emperor, whose eyes looked a little red. He slowly got up. “You didn’t sleep at all last night?”
Yu Tang grunted a reply and went to the bathroom to shower.
“Achoo —” Only then did Song Xiao feel cold, and he sneezed. Shaking his head, he got up to warm up two gla.s.ses of milk.
After Yu Tang was done with his shower, Song Xiao went in to wash his face. When he came out, he saw Yu Tang packing his suitcase.
“You’re going on a business trip?” Song Xiao pa.s.sed him the gla.s.s of milk.
“From today onwards, we’ve broken up.” Yu Tang shoved a few clothes inside and closed the suitcase. He straightened up, paused, then took away the woolen teddy bear that was on the bed.
“What?” Song Xiao blinked, unable to comprehend Yu Tang’s meaning for a moment.
Yu Tang gave him a look. “This place was in your name to begin with, so all this is left for you.” With that, he pulled the suitcase along and turned to leave, closing the door with a thump.
Song Xiao was dazed for a long while. He walked over to the window and watched as Yu Tang dragged the suitcase behind him down below, a plush teddy bear under his arm. Why did he look like… a little kid leaving in a sulk?
“The two of them really broke up.” Yu Lang looked at the report in his father’s hand in disbelief.
“Yes, Tang shaoye has already left the apartment. Song Xiao’s complexion looked very bad when he left.” The bodyguard responsible for tailing Yu Tang reported everything honestly.
“Worthy of being my grandson, he has the resolution.” Yu Taixian nodded, very satisfied, then raised his hand to indicate for Butler Cao to come over. “Proceed with the evening banquet on schedule.”
Today, the staff of Xinghai Entertainment discovered that the chairman had driven to work in his own car. Usually, it was ‘His Majesty the emperor’ who would drop him off.
“Is His Majesty on a business trip today?” When Li Weiwei saw Song Xiao, he couldn’t help laughing at him, but his smile immediately faded when he saw Song Xiao’s complexion. “What’s up with you? You look terrible!”
Song Xiao’s face was a little pale and he seemed listless.
“I’m fine.” Song Xiao rubbed his face and turned to enter the chairman’s office.
“What happened to the chairman?” someone in the secretary room whispered.
“I hear that the Yu family are going to host a ball,” someone with a relative from an aristocratic family said stealthily. “They spread word of it a few days ago, and it seems that the family wants to look for a marriage partner for Chairman Yu…”
“That can’t be ba, the emperor can’t be such a slag!” The people in the secretary room thought that they had discovered the truth, and felt extreme sympathy for the chairman. Rich people loved money, and sure enough, were unreliable.
Perhaps it was the cold last night, but Song Xiao was very out of it for the rest of the day. After work, he stood on the side of the road and stared blankly at the people going back and forth on the street.
“Vrr —” There was a familiar rumble as a sapphire blue convertible stopped in front of him and the door opened.
Both of them stared blankly the instant their eyes met.
Yu Tang cursed inwardly — this G.o.dd.a.m.n habit. He immediately shut the door again and rushed off.
After some time, he came back.
“Why are you standing here? Where’s your car?” Yu Tang rolled down his window and spoke to Song Xiao.
“Oh.” Song Xiao finally returned to his senses and slowly turned to walk to the carpark.
Yu Tang pursed his lips tightly and got out of the car to chase after him. He pulled Song Xiao over. “Ai, forget it forget it.” As he spoke, he dragged Song Xiao into the car and threw him into the pa.s.senger seat. He lowered his head and fastened Song Xiao’s seatbelt, then huffily returned to the driver’s seat. Stepping hard on the gas pedal, he sped off.
The car stopped in the underground garage of their apartment. Yu Tang looked at Song Xiao, whose complexion still didn’t look good, and he frowned deeply. He raised a hand to touch Song Xiao’s head. “What happened to you? We broke up for a day and you’ve already made yourself like this!”
“Maybe I was too cold last night.” Song Xiao sniffled.
Yu Tang took out a handkerchief from his suit pocket and wiped his nose. “Knowing that you cried yourself sick for zhen really makes zhen worry.”
“Ah?” Song Xiao felt like he had a bit of a fever. He got out of the car dizzily, and was promptly picked up in a princess carry by Yu Tang.
Yu Tang pressed his head to Song Xiao’s and kissed his temple in distress as he softly said, “After a day, we got back together.”
“Oh.” Song Xiao yawned. Burying his face in the crook of Yu Tang’s neck, he went to sleep.
