Chapter 18 – Trading materials.

When I came back to my room I realised that I haven’t taken a bath! (TL : So that’s what the funny smell is !)

I hugged Milia in such a state ! ? I feel ashamed now.

Milia smelt good, didn’t I stink?

“Aa soo. Milia?

“Yes, what is it?”

“It’s just err….. do people in this country take baths?”

“Baths? Only n.o.bles take baths? Is it different in Takashis’ country?

SERIOUSLY? THERE’S NO BATHS??!! This seems like my first compromise in this world, my heart is so broken.

“My country had abundant water. Everyone takes baths.”

“It must have been a good country. Here everyone wipes their body with a wet cloth.”

“Can I make one? I’ll let other people enter, just need to make it of stone and steel. Do public baths exist?

“Hmm… to make a wood bath you’d have to ask the wood shop, but the issue is with preparing hot water”

Maybe its hard to prepare lots of water for a bath.

Then again it is a magical world, maybe there is some method.

“Isn’t there some other way?”

“Don’t you prepare hot water for boiling rice? But in the end the water is too hot and heavy so you can’t have it.”

Iron pot?…… Goemon bathtub! ALRIGHT!! i’ll go with that (TL: Something likethis)

“OK ! Lets go buy a iron pot.”

“Ehheee! It’s not something they sell anywhere !”

“We’ll find it somehow. Come lets go ask at the Armour shop! NOW!”

“This late at night? Lets do it tomorrow, the suns already gone down?

I don’t understand. The suns gone down? But still ! Don’t people take baths at night time.

“Look, Milia. I’ll go.”

“Huh ! ? Am I going to? ! ?”

“It’s normal. We are one in in body and mind. Look ! Its night already !”

I said so and quick-timed it out of the door.

“Already…. This persons conduct cannot be predicted.”

Milia comes while complaining.

Soon we arrive at the armour shop

“Oh, Takashi. It’s so late, what can I do for you?

“Well, there’s something I wanted to ask you about.”

Hmm.. I didn’t think properly. What should I say.

Well, the owner did say that he would give me a large discount exchange for ideas.

“I have a lot of ideas but I don’t know which ones will bring in a profit. I was hoping you’d hear me out.”

“Oh ! Really !? This is a long awaited opportunity ! Wait a minute and I’ll get the other shop owners !”

Milia looks at me with reproachful eyes. How was I supposed to know that he was going to get more people involved ? Isn’t it good to take care of other people ! ?

“………What are you thinking?”

“Well, it’s a lot.”

I’m just stuck here evading whatever Milia is plotting. Hopefully the shop owner comes back soon.

“I’m sorry for making you wait ! And for making a fuss. I thought someone else should hear it too.

I didn’t expect him to come back so soon. He brought an old man a young girl and someone who looks like a thug.

“Well everyone, this is Takashi. He is the person who designed the flagship product of my Armour shop, please lend him your wisdom.”

It looks like I got introduced without my permission. It’s getting late so I want to finish this quickly.

While the four people were talking Milia talked to me about each person. It seems the old man owns the blacksmith store.

They may have a pot. Or they may make it. I expect a good outcome

After Milia introduces everyone to me the four people seem to come to an agreement. I decide to ask each person to partic.i.p.ate in the conversation.

“Hmm.. How are you treating the item from the persons shop you are in now?” (TL: Armour + clothes)

“Ooops.. sorry, I am the Armour shop owner these are the blacksmith, tailor, and lumber shop.

Metal, cloth and wood. I might be able to manage if its just these.

“With this much technology and materials, It may be possible able to make anything.”

“Yes that’s true. Will you listen to my idea?”

“Yes, of course”

Even though Milia explained everything to me I decided to double check that it was okay.

“It’s something that everyone can buy at a low price. Even if it breaks one can be bought immediately.”

At a low price everyone can buy it…………. I wonder what they think about seasonal products. It must be the rainy season in j.a.pan now.

“I hear about something called seasons, does a rainy season exist in this country?”

“Yes it exists. It will soon come and the rain will randomly happen.”

Although it rains all year round, it won’t be good to have an item that can only be used in the rainy season.

“Okay. What do you do on a rainy day?”

“Try no to go outside so we don’t get wet.

Then will an indoor item be better.

Indoor ….. there’s lots of possibilities but there’s no electricity. I guess ill put it on hold.

So it must be something to be used outdoors. We use an umbrella and a rain coat on a rainy day, do they not have synthetic fibres in this world.

“How do you stop the rain?”
“Eh? We normally put on a cape……….?”

When this guy answered everyone gave me a weird look. Even Milia was looking at me strangely.

“Ah an idea!”

“Ho, is it true ! ? “

“First ill make the figure”

I show the shape of an umbrella.

It is possible to make this straight away and easily commercialise it.

“What is this, triangle? Stick?

“This is well. Lets name it an umbrella.”

“But how do you use it? Is it related to the rain you mentioned earlier?”

“Yes this is an item to prevent a person getting wet in the rain.”

I made the drawing detailing the handle of iron the stick of wood and the hood of cloth.

Lastly I described the gimmick of opening and closing.

Four people are surprised at once.

Believe it or not, people here are surprised at an umbrella……..

“But can’t you only use this umbrella when it rains?”

“Well as long as everyone added their own part in, it can be really cheap.”

The four people are keenly observing the picture I made…. Its nice to see something from my world here.

“It is possible to commercialise this from tomorrow ! You guys!”

“Its wonderful. We can even use it to trade with the next city!”

“Such imagination! Lets make a plan at once!”

“Yeah !”

I didn’t even think that this item can be exported all over the world.

Now, its time for the talk of compensation.

“Thats good to hear. Let’s talk about the first consultation.”

“Sure! Im so excited! What is it! I’ll cooperate as much as possible!

It seems they expected this.

“Well, first I want a big iron pot. Something that can fit several people.”

“By all means I can do this.”

YESS!!! Todays’ objective has been met ! Later I need a weapon.

“Thank you very much! Secondly im looking for a cheap weapon.”

“If there arms I can give you something !”

“I can give you a magic weapon on the house !”

“Sorry that I cant offer anything, I only have cloth or leather.”

Oooooo, I wanted only a weapon but it might be possible to get some armour as well !

“Wow, I got so much………..”

“Nono, its because you offered an item that has untold potential !”

“Is that so, I guess I believe in your words.”

I though that I would get all this stuff at a discount not for free. Now I’ll think of more ideas.

“Well shall we all leave? Don’t forget to give your thanks to Takashi !

The meeting broke up.

Everyone thanked me before they left the shop, after I began to return home.
