Starlight Has No Past
Chapter 18 Part 3
Ye Qiao continued to smile, but in her mind, if she actually kept a male dog
and the dogs became a couple, then her life would be even further tangled
with his. She could still hear Gu Jin's words from earlier that day which made
her uneasy thinking about her relationship with Zhou Tingsheng. Though she
didn't think so herself, Gu Jin made it sound like she was playing with fire,
and one day she might burn herself.
She was clearly aware of the fact that the relationship would end someday
sooner or later. But she didn't want to mull over it at present: “I'll have a cat,
at least it won't bite.”
The second day, she only had a couple of scene to film and Zhou Tingsheng
took her to the pet shop in the afternoon.
As they were at the pet shop, Qianxi happened to call her: “Ahhh, cousin, do
you really want to have a cat? You know very well that I'm allergic to cat hair…...
Are you still angry at me because of the last time and decided to keep a cat on
purpose so I can't go to your home?”
Ye Qiao was concentrating on checking one furball after another: “What
happened last time?”
Qianxi didn't expect that she would have totally forgotten what happened
last time and began freaking out: “Last time, about your neighbor! Though
it isn't nice to dig someone's secrets, you can't treat it like it's nothing
important either!”
Ye Qiao's mind was focused on the furb.a.l.l.s and didn't really catch what
was coming through the phone. She looked at a Ragdoll in the cage and
said: “Zhou Tingsheng, how about this one?”
“.......” Qianxi gasped: “Cousin! !”
Qianxi's screech brought her attention back: “Er, what did you just say?”
Qianxi could hear the deep voice of the man in the phone: “It's too sissy.”
She couldn't take it anymore: “Cousin! I'm going to tell uncle. You're out of
your mind! Totally out of your mind!”
Zhou Tingsheng was bending over to check the cat more closely. His
masculinity was a sharp contrast to the cute, flurry Ragdoll. Ye Qiao was
enjoying herself just looking at them and just indifferently answered: “En.
Go ahead.”
Qianxi stamped with fury as the phone hung up.
Zhou Tingsheng turned to ask Ye Qiao: “Have you decided?” Before
Ye Qiao opened her mouth to answer, there was another call on her cell.
She gave him an apologizing look.
It was from Gu Jin.
Zhou Tingsheng happened to glance at the name. He quietly turned to
look at the dogs in the other area of the shop and give her some privacy.
Ye Qiao, however, felt somewhat hurt by his deliberateness. Lovers
should be jealous at times like this, but her lover not only didn't mind
the phone call, he even considerably stepped aside.
Ye Qiao coldly answered the phone.
Gu Jin was straightforward as usual: “Qiaoqiao, we have some scheduling
problems and those scenes at the countryside have to be shot first. We
have to go there the day after tomorrow. Do you have any problems with it?”
“Why do we have to change the filming schedule so suddenly? Who has
a problem with the schedule?”
Gu Jin was quiet for a moment then gave the answer she had expected:
“It's Cheng Jiang.”
Ye Qiao was silent for a while then she lightly chuckled: “Sure, I'll go
along anything that Director Gu asks.”
Gu Jin could hear the sarcasm in her voice: “Qiaoqiao……”
“Don't call me Qiaoqiao. Aren't you tired of pretending that we're still
that close?”
He sighed: “You didn't speak this way before.”
“I've picked up some bad habits lately.” Ye Qiao went ahead to look for
Zhou Tingsheng and flatly said: “If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now.”
Zhou Tingsheng was kneeling next to a cat cage.
The store clerk was explaining to him: “This is a Scottish Fold. Cats from
this breed are born with a genetic defect. Some of them will have bone
diseases which aren't treatable. Our owner loves cats and anyone who
wants to buy a Scottish Fold will have to sign an agreement not to
abandon the cat later on.”
Ye Qiao put down her cell phone and looked at the little guy in the cage.
It was white all over with a little grey on its head. The folded ears quivered
ever so slightly as it sat curled in the corner.
It seemed that the little guy knew that it was born to suffer more than others.
