Chapter 4: I'd Rather Die Than Get Married (1)
How did it lead up to this?
"What do you mean?"
She asked this quietly as she slowly began to step back. She wanted to run away severely. It looks like he wouldn't even chase after her either.
“A copy of the contract is in my pocket, Won Seung Hee."
He spoke slowly with a smile. His smile appeared to be polite and out of courtesy, but he was clearly mocking her.
'Dang it.'
Seung Hee looked at the knot on his robe. If she were to untie it, Moo Chul would get caught off guard, allowing Seun Hee to run away quickly. Determined, Seung Hee quickly moved her hands towards his robe, but Moo Chul swiftly caught her wrist without any effort.
“Okay, wai--”
“Shh. There's a real employee pa.s.sing by.”
Seung Hee looked at the maid.
'Oh my gosh. The uniform is completely different from mine! Father, what have you done to me?'
Seung Hee, who was so shocked that she became stiff as a rock, then went back inside the study.
“You do know that your uniform is different from the rest, right?"
“……”
"This is the uniform from last year."
Seung Hee felt like the sky was falling. Just one step away from her, Moon Chul's eyes were drawn to her as he examined her with his arms folded.
"I heard that you were fearless, but I didn't expect you to come all the way here."
Seung Hee was starting to get confused. She could feel his eyes on her, but she was unable to lift her head properly. A large hand then sprang out in front of her eyes, causing Seung Hee to look straight at his face.
"It's polite to shake hands for our first meeting. Wouldn't you agree?"
His smile was arrogant and prideful; however, it intimidated Seung Hee. He looked kind in the pictures that she saw of him, but he was much more cunning than he seems. Also, his loose-fitting robe complemented his s.e.xy appearance. It was too much for Seung Hee to bear.
Seung Hee stared at his hand. She did not hold out her hand for them to shake hands, but she was not refusing it either. She just stood still in a panic, thinking of multiple ways she could get out of this mess. Then, someone screamed right outside of the study hall.
“Ma'am!”
It was a woman's voice. She sounded like she was in distress.
Surprised by the sound, Seung Hee concealed her hands behind her back as Moo Chul listened intently to the commotion outside.
“What's going on?"
“Lee Jin Shim collapsed, and her breath is getting shallow! I think she's dying!"
Shocked, Seung Hee covered her mouth. Something was wrong. It was more shocking than her getting caught by Moo Chul. Her eyebrows furrowed with worry.
“Hold on."
Moo Chul went outside to join the commotion, leaving Seung Hee inside alone.
"I feel so cold…"
Jin Shim was shivering uncontrollably. She felt like she was about to lose consciousness.
"Call the hospital!"
"Are you okay? Did you fall while cleaning?"
"I don't know…"
The woman answered, crying. Moo Chul continued to ask questions.
"Why were you inside the room?"
"I don't know. I thought you were off at work, so I came to clean. I'm in charge of cleaning this room, so I went inside."
Back inside the study room, Seung Hee took out her cell phone and quickly sent a text message to her father and brother. Her hands were trembling as she sent the message.
–Something happened. Go first.
As soon as she sent the message, the door then clicked open. The madly surprised Seung Hee dropped her phone on the floor.
"Who are you?"
The person who opened the door was not Moo Chul, but rather the woman who Seung Hee had heard earlier outside with all the commotion. Lee Hye Ri. The new wife of Han Kyu Won of Geumw.a.n.g group and the stepmother of Moo Chul. She was a newscaster at a broadcasting company until 15 years ago until she got married and retired. Seung Hee immediately put on a strong front. However, it was soon unnecessary.
"This is my guest. “
Moo Chul quickly returned and intervened, stopping a bomb before they blew up.
"I'll introduce you to her later."
Moo Chul was very compelling, but Seung' Hee's attire stood out like a sore thumb.
"But her clothe-"
"It suits my taste."
Moo Chul easily lied without even batting an eye. Seung Hee's face was turning red as she stood there in shock.
"Now, please leave before my guest feels uncomfortable."
Moo Chul was very smooth with his lies and actions. His moderately low and calm voice mysteriously hid the impatience in his voice.
Hye Ri then turned around and left the room without asking any more questions. Once she left, Moo Chul closed the door and picked up Seung Hee's cell phone that she dropped on the floor.
"Give it to me."
"You sneaked inside my house with a fake disguise, stole a five-billion contract from me, but you are the one angry?"
Seung Hee was speechless as Moo Chul was going through her contacts on her phone. He was going to call someone.
"I was thinking to go and visit Namsu myself, but I didn't know his phone number."
He quickly finished talking to Seung Hee's father before giving back her cell phone. Before Seung Hee retreated her hands back to her side, Moo Chul held onto it. Seung Hee was shocked. She then tried to take her hand away from his grasp, but Moo Chul just held her hand even tighter.
"You can't stay here. Let's go."
Seung Hee just realized. Moo Chul posed her as his lover to his mother so that he could protect her. Seung Hee sighed as she then gave up struggling, allowing Moo Chul to keep holding onto her hand as he walked ahead swiftly.
'How did I get into this mess?'
This was the first time that she held someone else's hand like this; however, his hand felt like it was a rope.
