Though Fenrir heard the man insult the flame, she noticed he still backed away with everyone else and pulled out his sword, shrouding it in a green glow. As for the pillar of flame, it had started burning with a brighter intensity, transitioning from a fiery orange into a solid white. However, the pillar she had made was comprised of pure Ice Elemental energy, meaning it couldn't be melted down into water, only dispersed back into the atmosphere when the effect wears off. Thus, other than a small amount of mist rising from the surface, the pillar remained standing tall, proud, and inviolable among the city skyline.
When the flame finally died out, there was a middle-aged man with short black hair that spiked away from his temples. There were a few age lines around his eyes but, other than that, he had a youthful face that was currently filled with rage and indignation. When he turned to those that had gathered to watch, he shouted, "Who did this!? Who dares to kill this San's son!? I swear to the Heavens to seek vengeance for this injustice, or my name isn't Huo Yan San!"
Hearing the man make his threats, Fenrir just snorted before turning away to go find another place to stay for the evening. It would be too difficult to find another Inn and, as she didn't want to bother with fighting over something pointless, Fenrir climbed into a tree leaning over a lake and curled up on a branch. She had spent many nights sleeping in trees with her Master in the past, so it made her feel a little more relaxed as she tried to calm her nerves. Deep within the pit of her stomach, a small urge to devour all of those foolish people had started to surge up and, if she hadn't retreated, Fenrir might have gone on a ma.s.sacre.
Though this world was full of terrible people, Fenrir knew that not all of them would be bad. There were undoubtedly people that were good, helped others, or needed help. Since she didn't have her Master's ability to tell if people were good or bad from their aura, Fenrir could only determine such things with her intuition and their scent. Most people that had a b.l.o.o.d.y and foul odor had a very high chance of being bad people, though this wasn't always the case. As long as they didn't bother her, Fenrir wouldn't go out of her way to kill people...
From in the distance, Fenrir could hear the sounds of fighting and, every now and then, she saw someone flying through the sky on a sword. It seemed that the city had started to wake up, even though it was the dead of night, and chaos had begun to spread. Some civilians, wanting to avoid getting caught in the struggles, were retreating towards the periphery of the city. As for Fenrir, she simply ignored everything going on around her, muttering in the voice of her Master, "Fenrir is a good girl..." as she drifted off into the realm of dreams.
(Fenrir's Commentary: 'Stupid...puny flame...can't even light a candle...zzz...')
