"Death magic: Purgatory slash!" Derik roared like a beast and brandished his death scythe at the ma.s.sive arc of death energy which split the lightning hurricane in two.
Lightning magic: Lightning jump!
Seeing the ma.s.sive arc of death aura moving towards her, Zaylee dared not linger any longer than she should, she instantly turned into a bolt of lightning and escaped to the side at incredible speed.
By the time she returned to her human form, she realized that Derik was right in front of her with the death scythe floating behind him like a minion. Before she could react Derik's hand bagged through the sparks of lightning, grabbing on to her neck.
"Didn't I tell you, I already killed someone with a similar path… do you think you will be able to fight against me with your level of strength?" Derik sneered
Struggling against Derik's firm hand which gripped her neck, Zaylee could barely speak. Each time she tried to gather her power to fight back, Derik's grip tightened and her concentration is destroyed due to the pain, making her unable to cast a single spell in this situation. It became clear to her companions that their leader's life was literally in the hands of this death mage.
"We hosts should stick together… our constant battles amongst ourselves are the reasons the previous hosts have been wiped out on numerous occasions by the people of this continent" Derik said with an innocent smile, but his grip on Zaylee's throat was tightening!
"Do you know why you are yet to improve?
Do you know why you are the weakest host on this continent? So weak that hosts grades below you can still wipe the floor with you effortlessly… This is simply because you have no goal, no vision, no reason to get stronger… Judging from your reaction, it is quite clear you had a romantic relationship with the man I killed a while ago… How many years now and you are yet to form a reasonable bond with your guardian spirit, that's why you are as weak as every other person possessing a magic spirit… You are not worthy to possess the purest form of the lightning magic… why don't I give it to someone else more deserving?" Derik said with a cold look in his fiery eyes.
Claws sprouted on his fingers, with it he tore Zaylee's throat and let her body fall to the ground. His gaze ignored the falling body, instead, it was focused on the white life force that escaped the former host's body.
A sinister smile appeared on Derik's face as he reached for Zaylee's soul, dragging it into his mouth, swallowing it.
"Hopefully the next host of the lightning guardian spirit will be more competent" Derik snorted as he watched Zaylee's companions gather around her body.
In his opinion, a person who has spent close to a decade if not more with her guardian spirit, yet is unable to improve to a certain level shouldn't be left alive.
Wasn't it better if someone else more reliable possessed the ability?
The world will soon encounter a powerful threat that may even be able to threaten the creator, at this point very crucial that this world gains more powerful warriors. If they are not strong enough or show not enough talent and potential, Derik would use them to increase his own strength!
"Kill them all quickly… we need to keep moving" Derik said to the death avatar
"Yes, Young master!" The death avatar said before storming towards the survivors mercilessly.
"To think the creator will hand you a tool similar to mine and your death avatar… impressive… what's more impressive is that it's a growth type magic weapon that gets stronger with the user… I am totally shocked by this, who would have thought the creator favored you this much!" Demos said
Hearing this, Derik only snorted. He still couldn't tell why the creator is placing this much attention on him.
Why does it favor me this much?
What is it planning?
Why does he feel so restless, knowing the creator is watching his every move?
"Yea, yea… if that's so why did he let me face the allied forces of the continent all alone?" Derik asked with a casual smile on his face as he watched his death avatar slaughter those left.
"What are you talking about, didn't you benefit from it? You gathered over a thousand souls from that battle… remember this is needed for you to cultivate efficiently with the treasures of the dungeon!" Demos said.
"Why do I feel you are on the side of the creator here? What if its plan is to make me reach the DemiG.o.d realm before seizing control of my soul like all the other DemiG.o.ds" Derik's visage turned frosty and Demos fell silent for a while
.............
Whoosh!
A bright man in golden armor, wielding a magic broadsword appeared in mid-air, looking down on the pile of bodies below. His face didn't show any hint of anger or despair, instead, the warm smile on his face remained.
Suddenly his body froze as he saw a familiar face who's throat has been ripped apart and a pool of blood beneath her. Her sky blue hair was dyed red with blood and her eyes showed how reluctant she was to die.
"Humph! Zaylee failed… Even with the resources of the kingdom… this Death mage is more ruthless than I thought… hopefully, he will be worth my time!" Kaido laughed and shot forward. His eyes showed his excitement
His laughter echoed through the lonely streets of the residential area in Cato as he shot forward like a bullet towards the southern gate of the kingdom!
.......
Two figures appeared about four hundred meters away from the southern gates of the kingdom. Their fiery eyes were fixed on the ma.s.sive walls of the kingdom which was decorated with numerous magic symbols.
Atop the gate were the peak experts of the kingdom who waited for the arrival of the death mage.
"Well then… we just need to pull down these walls and let the monsters on the other side of the wall finish the job for us" Derik said with a sinister smile on his face.
"The wall has some impressive magical defense formations, I don't think you and the death avatar will find it easy to pull this wall down!" Demos said.
Derik was about to speak but for this first time in a very long time, he felt like death was standing behind him and the chilly blade of its ma.s.sive scythe was pressed against his throat.
He dared not hold back, as he quickly turned to face the enemy only to realize that the death avatar had blocked a deadly strike for him with its body. The death avatar wiggled and twisted violently and it struggled for a while before turning into a black mist and entering Derik's body.
This is the first time his death avatar has been defeated and forced to retreat into his incomplete domain in order to recover.
The ma.s.sive broadsword twirled for a while in front of Derik and quickly returned to youth in golden armor. His orange hair fluttered in the wind and his perfect set of teeth was showcased when he smiled sweetly at Derik as if he is an old-time friend.
"Dang it! I was hoping to end you in one strike… I guess it will two now" Kaido laughed
A bead of cold sweat rolled down Derik's forehead as a weak smile appeared on his face.
"Is that so?" Derik asked
