Ou Kaicheng entered the headmaster's office. He was sitting in front of the computer having a meal, shocked by the sudden guest. He quickly switched off his monitor and asked curiously, "Young master, is anything the matter?"
"Give me the profile on the new teacher who started at Liu Silan High today," Ou Kaicheng responded coldly. The school belonged to his family, the headmaster worked for his family, so he had no need to be polite.
The headmaster tried to think back and remembered Mo Qianren, since he was the type of person that wasn't forgotten easily. The headmaster nodded his head, "He was sent directly to us from the board of directors. I don't have any information on him. I hear the student council didn't receive anything either."
"Even the basics like name and age?" Ou Kaicheng frowned. He felt that Mo Qianren was unlikeable. His presence was too strong and he looked like he had acted different toward Mu Rulan.
The headmaster shook his head before thinking of something and grinning. "Why don't you ask your father and then let me know?"
Ou Kaicheng shot him an icy glare. The headmaster began to sweat. "I-I was just kidding. Heh."
The Ou and Jin Families had collaborated on a few projects. Now that the Jin Family was on the receiving end of negative press, all their joint projects had come to a halt. It was a huge loss, which was why the Ou and Jin Families were currently trying to keep their heads above the water. Where would his father find the time to answer his petty questions?
……
Bai Suqing was dressed in white, her hair tied up and accessorized with a yellow lily. In combination with her pointy chin and large, watery eyes, she looked like a pretty white lotus.
After she utilized the invitation card addressed to Mu Rulan from Ou Kaicheng to enter, she sat in a corner to look at the girls and boys gathered around to chit-chat in the gorgeous hall. She looked disdainfully at the girls who were obviously trying to marry in to the Ou Family. Even those useless things dared have the same goal as her? Hmmph!
Her gaze swept through the Ou Family hall. There was a glimmering chandelier hung from the ceiling, world-famous art decorating the walls, and even the vase holding flowers at the corner was valuable. The grandeur didn't look at all gaudy; a hint of envy appeared in her eyes.
The Ou Family was much better than the nouveau-riche Mu Family.
"Yo~ Isn't this our little miss white lotus?" Someone walking by noticed it was Bai Suqing, stopping to voice that statement loudly.
The people in the surroundings all turned their gazes to her.
Bai Suqing's face turned pale and she quickly stood up. Her large eyes seemed to glisten with tears, like she was a frightened little bunny to be pitied.
A few girls then walked toward her. Translated by The Novelst
"What white lotus. Wasn't her name Bai Innocence?"
"Pu… Bai Innocence, huh. It suits you very well, Bai Tongxue."
Her eyes teared up and she lowered her head and didn't speak. She looked like she was being bullied, a lotus standing lonely in the face of a gale. Some of the nearby guests began to pity her and the gazes directed at those girls suddenly became disdainful. When compared to Bai Suqing, those girls were too evil!
Lan Binglin was leaning at a table nearby, watching the proceedings go by with a gla.s.s of wine in hand. No one could read his expression.
"My name is Bai Suqing," she whimpered, at last seeming unable to bear it.
They obviously couldn't be bothered with her. One of the girls asked mockingly, "Did Ou Kaicheng give you an invitation? How did you get in?"
After she brought it up, the other girls were reminded of this. Bai Suqing was currently staying with Mu Rulan and both her parents had pa.s.sed away. She wasn't from a prestigious family, nor was she close to Ou Kaicheng.
Bai Suqing could hear her heart thump in her ears. She hadn't actually planned to come. The reason she'd stolen Mu Rulan's invite was in order to prevent Mu Rulan from attending. But after she had heard that Mu Rulan had no plans to come because she was busy with student council matters, Bai Suqing had thought of attending anyways.
The trio of girls looked strangely at Bai Suqing, their gazes turning slowly more suspicious. Just as Bai Suqing was going to let a tear streak down her face, a boy nearby burst out in anger.
"Isn't this a little too much? If you're so curious how Miss Bai came to attend this party, just go and ask Ou Kaicheng. Why are you being so mean to a fragile girl?" The boy who spoke out was wearing gla.s.ses, his figure lean like a stick of bamboo.
He was a little jealous of Ou Kaicheng. Or rather, one could say most of the boys present were jealous of Ou Kaicheng. They were unable to understand why that arrogant guy had so many girls fawning after him.
"Liu Feili, why are you b.u.t.ting in?" The girl in the red dress looked unhappily at him. "Have you fallen in love with this little white lotus and her white thongs?"
Bai Suqing lowered her head pitifully, tears beginning to fall. She looked like she had been wronged, with nowhere to cry out against the injustices done to her, only able to pitifully keep it inside her heart.
"You…" Liu Feili pointed at the girl in the red dress with deep hatred. "You're so unreasonable! You must be jealous of the pure Miss Bai!"
"You…!" Translated by The Novelst
"What's going on here?" A middle-aged woman in a deep red cheongsam held Ou Kaicheng's hand and walked into the hall. She had easily pinpointed the disruption that had drawn all attention in the room.
Bai Suqing lowered her head even further, tears falling faster and seeming very mistreated.
