It was a very gentle and polite voice.
He sounded much nicer compared to Ning Wenxue.
“Yes, wait a minute.” Su Huiqing handed the cell phone over to Ning Wenxue.
Her tone was probably overly frosty and domineering.
The man was clearly taken aback.
Su Huiqing stared meaningfully at Ning Wenxue.
Ning Wenxue had turned obedient after suffering that near-death experience, She spoke in a hoa.r.s.e voice to her brother, explaining that she had caught a cold and had no real reason to call him.
Only after Ning Wenxue hung up did Su Huiqing turn away and walked back to her own seat. She made a call on her cell phone.
“It’s me.” Su Huiqing stood by the window. “Let Jiang Ran come in.”
Jiang Ran was the girl who had been chased off by Ning Wenxue earlier.
Su Huiqing hung up and turned to look at Ning Wenxue. “You will be sorry if I am dissatisfied with your apology.”
She stood by the window and the sunlight lit up her face clearly. She appeared exceptionally cold and aloof.
Ning Wenxue nodded slowly.
Jiang Ran and the rest of Cla.s.s 11 were still around.
The whole bunch of people were waiting by the stairway.
Every one of them had consciously chosen to stay on, probably because their sense of solidarity had deepened after their previous collective resistance against the school.
Jiang Ran entered and was dumbstruck by the scene inside the room.
A bunch of worried cla.s.smates had followed her in too.
The neatly-arranged rows of tables and chairs had mostly fallen over. Only those surrounding Su Huiqing remained upright.
It was clear that a vicious battle had just occurred here. She anxiously glanced over and sighed a breath of relief on seeing that Su Huiqing and her friends were still alright.
“Jiang Ran, come over here.” Su Huiqing pulled out her own chair and pointed at it. “Sit here.”
Jiang Ran obediently sat down.
Only then did Su Huiqing lift her eyes and look mildly at Ning Wenxue.
She didn’t say a word but Ning Wenxue understood Su Huiqing’s meaning.
She crawled up from the floor and limped over to the two girls. She performed a very proper bow. “Student Jiang Ran, I am sorry. I should not have treated you like that. Please forgive me!”
Her voice trembled slightly.
Jiang Ran was shocked by the sight of Ning Wenxue behaving in this manner.
She more or less knew something of Ning Wenxue’s status. She couldn’t help being totally startled on seeing Ning Wenxue bow before her in this manner.
She got up hastily and waved her hands about in a fl.u.s.tered manner.
With one hand still in her pocket, Su Huiqing easily pressed down on Jiang Ran’s shoulder with the other.
“Have more confidence in yourself, Jiang Ran.” She lowered her pitch-black eyes. “No one is born better than the rest. No one is born more inferior than others either. You hold your fate in your own hands. You should have a bit more backbone. You have your friends and family behind you, what are you still afraid of?”
One must be clear on how one wished to live.
No matter what happened, never ever discard your initial aspirations.
A person only had that one life.
This was the notion of living one’s life to the fullest.
A person’s weaknesses and strengths could surpa.s.s one’s own expectations.
Only when faced with difficulty could a person finally know just how resolute one could be.
Jiang Ran was lucky.
She had someone like Su Huiqing, who would do this for her.
And a bunch of cla.s.smates who were so determined to encourage her.
Ning Wenxue lifted her head. She could clearly see the gradual change in Jiang Ran’s eyes.
Previously, she didn’t dare to lift her head or speak loudly.
But now, those timid eyes were slowly tinged by a layer of determination.
Ning Wenxue glanced at Su Huiqing and the bunch of students standing at the back of the cla.s.sroom, silently looking at her.
She had never witnessed such a scene.
She had bullied so many people before.
It was because in her personal experience, there was no fairness in the world. Since she had the power, why allow herself to suffer?
But Su Huiqing had utterly shattered this worldview of hers.
In her eyes, Su Huiqing’s background was no match for hers. But Su Huiqing was willing to do all this just for one cla.s.smate.
And the way the rest of the cla.s.s stood there. She had really never seen anything like this.
Such resolution. It was truly… admirable.
Meanwhile, Su Huiqing’s short speech which she had made calmly with lowered eyes—that alone was enough to warm the people’s hearts.
This was a totally new feeling for her.
“Student Jiang Ran, I really am sorry.” Ning Wenxue was now looking very seriously at Jiang Ran.
Although she didn’t bow, her tone held an unprecedented sense of humility and sincerity.
Actually, she had felt very aggrieved throughout the entire affair. She had no idea what Su Huiqing did, to cause her such gut-wrenching pain.
Jiang Ran forgave her.
Su Huiqing glanced at her, before giving a satisfied smile.
She took off her jacket and reached out to straighten a nearby table which had fallen over.
Everyone in the cla.s.s quickly started to tidy up the room.
Ning Wenxue stood rooted to her spot. She glanced hesitantly at Su Huiqing. After muttering to herself for a long time, she finally drew up her courage and asked, “Can I be friends with you?”
The princ.i.p.al and several other school leaders rushed in at this moment. They heard Ning Wenxue’s question.
The bunch of school leaders exchanged looks of astonishment.
Indeed, one could not afford to offend Su Huiqing.
Even such a powerful heiress had fallen in her hands…
Su Huiqing glanced at her, not answering.
This was because her cell phone was ringing.
It was an unfamiliar number.
She picked up the call.
The voice was very familiar though. Cold, harsh and grave.
“Come out, I am waiting for you outside the school gates.”
