They covered a long distance before the group could even catch a glimpse of light, signifying the end the tunnel.
Izakle held his hands up, signaling his team to immediately halt. He ordered to one of his men "Go check the situation." His men hearing his older, followed thoroughly and made his way to opening, lurking and silently.
He had his his back leaning on the cave walls, Slowly inching his eyes towards the view. Seconds have gone past. Izakel face had a curious face, seeing his men standing there, not moving an inch.
He step closer intrigued by the strange phenomenon his men is displaying. One of the men beside him held his sleeves saying. "Sir, you can't. We don't know the situation, something bad must have happened to him. It must be the work of our enemies!"
Izakel gestured his men to stand down. He's instincts told him otherwise, he didn't felt any danger being emitted from that place. He approached the stiff soldier slowly and steady.
He held his soldier shaking from him for any signs of life. He whispered. "Soldier! What happened to you."
The stiffened man's body jolted, seemingly awakened from his stupor. He raised his hands, it was shaking. He said, with his voice filled with awe "S-sir, t-t-take a lo-look in f-f-f-ront!"
Izakel puzzled by what he saw and took a look for himself. He was gobsmacked by what he saw!
The tunnel led to another ma.s.sive cave, In the end of the of cave was a giant construction, giving of a metallic sheen. From the looks of it, it seems to be in a bad shape. A lot burn marks and large holes seemingly caused some kinds impacts and explosions. There were also marks that looked like it was made from the claws of a gargantuan creature.
The group were amazed by sight of this relic. Kiel felt the ancient vibe it gave off, wondering to himself. 'How long has this building existed here, it feels like it has been laying here for millions of millions years!'
Izakel woke up the members from their reverie. He said "What ever this thing is, It seems to be on the size of epic proportions! We must find a way to get inside. I have a feeling that anymore dallying here would make the situation worst"
The group felt the sheer size of the relic clearer as they walked feets closer to it. It was way bigger than they initially thought. Izakel held his chin thinking of plan. moments later he ordered in a serious manner "Scatter and find paths that could lead us inside. Go by the groups of 2 and have each others back. Be cautious and mindful of your surroundings, I'm pretty sure that there's danger lurking here!"
The group scattered. Kiel went with Izakel. His face was shaded with worry. He said. "I don't feel good about his place. especially from the inside."
Izakel had a grim face as he replied "Me too, but we don't have much choice, we're already here!"
Time pa.s.sed by as the group searched every nook of the relic, finding any pa.s.sageway leading inside, until one of his men solemn voice sounded from their com link.
They regrouped towards the path. One of the soldier reported to Izakel. "Sir! We have checked inside and have confirmed that there's a long corridor at the end of this hole"
Izakel nodded, not letting his indecisiveness take over. He swiftly made the order to barge in.
The group found themselves in a wide and long dark corridor. Kiel asked. "Which way should we go? There's two path we could take. Judging from this site sheer size , we could get lost before finding anything!"
Izakel decided after some consideration. He said "Take out those maps!"
Kiel said in relief "You actually had a map. With this we don't have to waste any more time scouting each route!"
Izakel nodded his head, saying. "I especially had our spies deliver us this copy. The Stanfords had been guarding this sigh ever since learning the existence of it. So it's pretty logical for them to have a information about this place."
He took a good look at the map. He pointed his finger at a marked location in the map. He said "From what they have learned, this marked seems to have great importance to the Stanfords. from what I presume, this pa.s.sage would lead to the inner parts of the relic. We have to get there as fast as we could. We shouldn't fall behind their group"
The group mad their way. Turns after turns, corridor after corridor. The pa.s.sage became wider as they neared their destination. The place was dark as it could be, with barely any visibility. Fortunately, they have come prepared, bringing night goggles.
They advance as steady as they could, ready for any danger lying in ambush. Izakel at the front gestured his hands for a stop, he hushed. p.r.i.c.king his ears, he heard faint voices and footsteps across the wide corridors. From what he picked up, voices could be faintly heard, arguing.
He said in a whisper. "Move slowly and quietly. Possible enemies near us."
The group neared the end of the corridor. As closer as they got, the clearer the voice Izakel could hear. He was right, it was voices of people arguing at each other. But he couldn't hear their exact voices. There were several voices.
Izakel said to the group. "Keep it low. They don't know that were here." He peeked out his head, surveying the place before him. The room was exceedingly s.p.a.cious, with an opening from above as he looked up. The whole room was wide, it size seems to be 5 times the size of the biggest stadium on earth.
He looked up front and saw many silhouettes from various sizes and heights. Theses various silhouettes seems to be group into 3 factions. Their discussion seems to be getting worse and worse, as the voices got louder.
He was sure that the two of those groups were from two brothers, Frederic and Jayson. He wasn't sure who was leading the third group but he knew this was bad. He didn't have any information of the third group, so he could only stay behind the cover of the dark, unwilling to make a move with proper planning and knowledge. He said to the people behind him. "We'll let them pa.s.s. They will be the spear tip while we will be just from their behind. We'll strike when the opportunity arises!"
.......
Frederic was getting tense from the situation. From each pa.s.sing moment, it atmosphere is becoming worse and worse. The situation was coming out hands. Having the feeling of control slipping from his hands left him with fury and a sour taste. He knew that all of his planning were all pushed inside the drain by the combine schemes of the enemies standing in front of him.
Jayson, his second brother, backed by the americans and to his surprise, his third brother, Rudeus, showed up, backed by the russians. He already felt long ago that there somethings that didn't add up, from the incident. But he just couldn't find any solid proof that would point to it. He may have a strong family to take advantage of, but not everything is in reach when you're enemies are your equals or a step above. He could only make do in some parts of his plans from guesses and his intuition over the long years of experience.
Jayson on the contrary, found this less surprising. The americans had already informed him of the notion and possibility of Rudeus allying with the russians.
Each group having their own scheme and plans battle it out as hard as they could for any advantage they could muster. As the situation progress beyond their initial plans. Things would be hard to predict with the posiblity of any other variable occuring that would make the situation worse. Especially with in this place, a relic that they know little about, anything could happen.
The scheme of each group countering each other forming a very unstable and unlikely situation. This is was their current predicaments they were facing. Any wrong move could spell the end for each group.
Just another variable and there's goes the boom, They didn't have to wait before clicking and metalic sounds were heard echoing from above. From what they could conclude, it felt like footsteps, and to make it worse, it seems that in came from not one person but a lot of them
They all thought of the same line 'someone other group have entered the fray!" dozens of swooshing sounds were heard that interrupted them from their thoughts. It lasted for seconds until an impacts were heard booming, like two metals crashing at each other at with great strenght. Producing metalic sounds as it vibrated through the whole room.
From the darkness, vague humaniod sillhouettes started appearing. They were firm and carried an aura of great strenght and brutality. Every footsteps they made left each of them reeling from shock.
