Walter began punching Randy in the stomach and kidneys again and again and then brought his knee up into his brother's groin. Then he brought his other knee into Randy's stomach. Randy went down to his knees and Walter grabbed him by the ears. Walter's knee caught Randy underneath the chin, which sent him flying back into his bedroom. Blood flew upwards and slapped with a wet-sounding noise on the floorboards. Walter walked over to Randy who was rolling over, spitting blood in large globs. He reached out to grab him but Randy got the upper hand this time.

Randy had grabbed a baseball bat leaning against the doorframe of his bedroom and turned around, bringing the aluminum bat up and whacking Walter's head as hard as he could. The bat dented in on itself as Walter fell to the side, crashing into the nearby hall mirror. Randy stood up and raised the bat over his head. He brought it down onto Walter's back, savoring the feeling of metal on flesh.

But when he went to take another swing, Walter's hand flew out and grabbed the bat. He looked up at Randy and smiled. With blood running between his teeth and down his chin, he began to laugh again. He pulled the bat out of Randy's hand and threw it behind him.

Walter motioned with his hand. "Come and get me, f.u.c.ker. Come on."

Randy ran at Walter again but Walter was ready for him. He grabbed Randy by the arm and flipped him over his back. Randy slammed onto the floor again.

"Are you gonna play the game! Are you gonna play the game! Are you?" Walter yelled at Randy.

In return, Randy looked up at Walter and smiled. "No. Kill me."

Walter's smile faded and a deep frown erupted. "I will then!" he yelled.

As he went to step on Randy's head, Randy rolled away and reached up and managed to grab Walter by his b.a.l.l.s. With a throaty yell, he picked Walter up, and with every ounce of strength he had left, he threw Walter out the bedroom window.

Walter crashed through the gla.s.s and smacked the ground below with a sickening thud. Randy walked over to the broken window, his feet crunching on a few shards of gla.s.s that hadn't gone out the window with his brother's body.

His mouth fell open when he saw Walter standing up on wavering legs. His right arm looked broken, Walter cradling it. But Walter used his good hand and pointed a single finger accusingly at Randy. "You'll pay for this, Randy. You're going to wish you had played with me, f.u.c.ker!"

Walter turned and took off running towards the shadows of the street in his tattered police uniform. The man's movements were slow, however, showing he wasn't unscathed from his fall.

Randy closed the blinds over the broken window.

He fell back onto his bed and closed his eyes. He was exhausted, and though he was frightened and full of adrenaline, he slowly came down, and as the sluggishness took hold, he fell into a deep sleep.

On this night he dreamed of the little red-haired girl. He hadn't dreamed of that little girl in years but she came to him this night.

She was still laughing at him. Only this time, she wore a tattered police uniform. Her face was covered in blood and her open palms held handfuls of maggots that crawled around and dropped to the ground between her fingers.

Then she started to eat each maggot one by one.

She stopped and laughed again, and between each laugh, said, "You're going to die tomorrow."

Chapter 10.

Randy woke up a few hours later to see it was still dark outside. A sharp icy wind was what had awakened him. It blew in through the broken window and found its way to his skin.

The curtains were blowing wildly away from the window, and the wan moonlight spilling in through the flowing curtains reflected off the shards of gla.s.s scattered around the room. He sat up and wiped his eyes. The fear of his brother's return had pa.s.sed and in its wake was only anger.

It was then he remembered the little brunette girl still chained up in his bas.e.m.e.nt. She was the perfect source for him to take out all this anger on. He stood up and turned the bedroom light off. As he moved towards the bas.e.m.e.nt door, he saw a shadow out of the corner of his eye from one of the windows facing the front of the house.

Someone was on his porch.

He grabbed a butcher's knife from the kitchen and ran towards the front door, but when he opened it he found...nothing. Nothing at all. Just darkness and a few trees blowing in the wind. Whoever had been there had left.

That, or there had never been anyone outside and his mind was playing tricks on him. He felt as though he was losing his mind. Then again, he may have already lost his mind. He closed the door and locked it. As he walked back towards the bas.e.m.e.nt door, he noticed the clock in the kitchen.

It was three in the morning.

Some say that three is the most dangerous time. The devil's time. He remembered hearing a story one time about 3 a.m.

The story was about a man and his family. The unnamed man had been known around his neighborhood as a kind and gentle soul. He'd never so much as raised his voice at anyone. He had the same wife for fifteen years and three children. Two girls and a boy. Then one night, for some unexplainable reason, he'd grabbed a shotgun from the closet. He took the shotgun into the bedroom where his wife laid asleep. He pumped the weapon and shot his wife in the head, execution style. Then the man went to the children's rooms. The three children shared a room together. He went into the room and proceeded to shoot all three in the head. After the first child was shot the other two had woken up, the blast startling them. They had tried to run but the man had taken each one down, shooting them in the back and then one more in the head to make sure they were truly dead.

He tried to kill himself afterwards but to no avail as he ran out of sh.e.l.ls. So he sat in the living room and waited for the police who were bound to come. They did, a neighbor, who had been his friend, had called the police and reported the shots. They arrested the man on the spot. He claimed he didn't remember doing the shootings. He just remembered sitting in the living room holding the shotgun. The strangest thing about the shootings was the fact that all the deaths had taken place at exactly three in the morning. Stranger still was the fact that three days later he was found dead in jail. He hadn't killed himself, but had just died. His heart gave out on him. The time he died was exactly 3 a.m.

It's been said that most deaths over the world occur at three. This is an unexplainable occurrence. But it does happen.

Randy thought of this and smiled. True it was three a.m., but it would be not be the time of death for the little girl in the bas.e.m.e.nt. She would die later, he would ensure it. He wanted her to scream and cry, to feel the pain he inflicted. He wanted to enjoy himself with her.

His nose was still bleeding and he wiped the blood away with his arm and went into the bas.e.m.e.nt.

When he reached the bottom of the stairs, he was surprised to see she wasn't where she should be, that she had escaped her chains. She was currently trying to open the west side window in the bas.e.m.e.nt to escape. She hadn't noticed his arrival yet but she did when he reached her.

When he had grabbed her by a lock of her hair and yanked her back, she knew her escape was over. Randy turned her around and dangled her in front of his face, eye to eye. He stuck out his tongue and licked her cheek, leaving a wet trail behind.

She whimpered.

He dropped her to the ground and she cowered before him, then tried to back away on her haunches. He just watched her in amus.e.m.e.nt. She glanced towards the stairs leading to the kitchen, at the only exit; her only means of survival was above those stairs.

Randy had left the door open.

With a wave of his arm Randy motioned towards the opened door at the top of the stairs, smiling as he did so. She looked at him in puzzlement and he nodded his head in approval. Without another second of hesitation, she stood and dashed towards the exit. Taking steps two at a time, she reached the open doorway within a few seconds.

She never noticed him behind her, never realized she had been tricked. She never left the bas.e.m.e.nt. He had been ready, was faster. When she reached the doorway at the top of the stairs, he was right behind her.

He had grabbed her by her hair again and pulled her up once again, like a dog reaching the end of its chain. She kicked, punched, yelled and screamed but none of it mattered. All her fighting was in vain. There was no escape for the little girl.

She could only wonder why this was happening to her, why her friend had died and now it was her turn. The only question was why would anyone want to do such harm to an eight year old girl?

She cried out for her mother, tears flowing down her eyes, as she was dragged back down into the darkness of the bas.e.m.e.nt. Randy had turned the industrial light off so neither of them could see. But they could hear each other.

Desperate, she decided to try something else.

"Please, mister," she whimpered between tears, "just make it quick. I don't want to go back to my dad. He's really cruel."

The next thing she said she yelled it out as if it had been on her tongue for ages.

"He...my dad BEATS ME! PLEASE! My dad f.u.c.kS ME!"

She had broken down now, completely lost control. Randy let her go but she made no attempt to escape. Instead, she curled up on the floor in a tight ball. She was shaking and crying uncontrollably. Randy was shocked and amused all at once.

He wouldn't be vexed by this and she knew it. He knew that she had just wanted to tell someone, to let someone know the truth. His amus.e.m.e.nt pa.s.sed away and he sat cross legged on the floor next to the girl. There was almost no light, but their faces were dim shadows as he looked at her.

He wanted someone to share, too, he wanted someone to know what had happened to him.

"When I was a kid, my mom and me were lovers. It wasn't the first thing I really remember though." He sighed and put his hand on the girl's quivering shoulder. "My preacher, he used to take me into the backroom of the church; into his office. He would make meado things to him. Always with my mouth. Then he started to do the things to my...backside." He realized he was crying now as the painful memories flooded back to him. He continued. "Then my mom left me alone. She left me with him. Since then, I just don't know what I've been doing."

She looked at him, or tried to. It was still dark. She was still quivering as she asked, "So, are you going to let me go?"

"What's your name?" he asked her.

Hesitating, she answered, "Tiffany. Will you let me go?"

His hand on her shoulder tightened. "No. I can't let you go. This is who I am."

They sat in silence, in the darkness, for a time. Her body was still quivering. She still cried, but Randy had stopped crying. Neither of them said a word.

Then he was upon her.

She wasn't expecting it. He had just grabbed her and threw her to the floor, her face smacking against the cement. She was becoming hysterical and shaking uncontrollably as Randy started to rip off her clothes.

"Just be quiet. This'll be over quick," he breathed heavily.

He stripped off all her clothes and threw the garments in a heap behind him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and without hesitation, he slammed himself into her. She clenched her teeth as he entered her most deepest place. She felt as though he was ripping her open, as if he had impaled her on a pole.

In the darkness, the sharp grunts and yelps of pain traveled around the room and Randy kept his promise. He finished quickly and then stood up.

She stayed on the bas.e.m.e.nt floor, holding herself in pain. He would have left her there alone if only she'd kept her mouth shut. But she didn't.

"You're worse than my father," she said.

Randy crossed the bas.e.m.e.nt and the industrial light flicked on. They both had to squint their eyes in the brightness to adjust their vision. She looked up and saw that Randy stood above her completely naked. He looked down at her with a fierceness in his eyes. She knew she was about to feel a wrath she had never felt before by another human being. She turned away from him and sobbed.

Randy snapped his hand onto the handle on the back of the industrial light, and with a thrust, he threw the light down towards her. It landed on her side and broke. The light went out immediately and they were left in darkness once more.

She could feel the blood trickling across her naked body, from between her legs. The heat of the bulb had burned her and the gla.s.s from the shattered bulb had stuck into her skin. Tiffany tried to attempt to crawl away, to get out from under the dented housing of the light, but before she had gone a foot, she was kicked in the side of her head.

Randy kicked her again and again. The kicks connected with the side of her head and then her face. She made another attempt to crawl away but this time he stepped down onto her back and raised his foot. He brought it down on the middle of her spine and heard a snap, like a tree branch run over by a car tire.

He could feel her spine beneath his naked foot. In fact, he had to pull his foot away when he felt a sharp pain. A piece of bone had snapped through her skin and stabbed the bottom of his foot. He reached down and rubbed her back, searching for what had stuck him and sure enough, a piece of her spine had torn through her skin and was poking upwards.

She was making no noise at all and her bladder had emptied itself across the bas.e.m.e.nt floor. Still, she breathed. Very shallow, but she did breathe. He felt for a pulse. She was still alive, but just barely. He took his hand away and reached for the bone that protruded from her back. When his fingers found it, he grasped it tightly. With both hands gripped around the blood-wet bone, he yanked with all his might. It started to come away from her body as soon as he started pulling. He couldn't see his deed, but he could sense that her body was spasming wildly as he pulled her spine clear out of her back.

His feet were stepping in a mess that felt and smelt of s.h.i.t. He didn't notice this, though. He was just too busy ripping her spine from her body to notice such things. The bone was coming away easily. He pulled it as though he was tugging on a small rope. Within a few minutes he had completely extracted the spinal cord from her small form. He struggled to see through the dark so he could see it. He wanted to see his handiwork, wanted to know what her body looked like now.

He imagined it looked something like a spineless puppet, a ventriloquist's puppet perhaps. He imagined putting his hand inside her back and up into her head. He imagined putting his fingers around the inside of her jaw and making her talk. He laughed at the absurdity of such a thought and noticed the orange and yellow light of dawn seeping through the window she had previously tried to use for an escape.

He decided he was bored, there was nothing more he could do to this one, so he dropped the spine and went upstairs. When he reached the top, light was spilling in through the kitchen windows and it illuminated the bas.e.m.e.nt at the bottom of the stairs.

He looked back to have a final glance at the lifeless eight year old named Tiffany. Even with the dawn light, he could still barely see her, and was somehow glad he couldn't. He had turned her beautiful body into a travesty.

But it had been such delicious fun. Smiling again, he closed the door, leaving the ghastly stench behind and the tiny corpse behind.

Once he was fully in the lighted kitchen, he noticed that his feet and legs were covered in a mixture of blood and excretion.

To effectively clean himself he went and took a long hot shower, scrubbing the mess off of his naked body. Halfway through the shower, still thinking of Tiffany, he grew aroused again and had to m.a.s.t.u.r.b.a.t.e in the shower; the soap the perfect lubricant. His legs shook when he o.r.g.a.s.med, the image of Tiffany lying under him as he slammed himself into her, taking what no man should have ever had, not at her age anyway.

After the shower was over, he got dressed in his nicest business suit. He'd decided to go out, get some coffee, and then go search for a new job.

Perhaps he would stop by the school and search for something else pretty. Of course, before he left the house he considered something else. He considered getting in his car and just driving away from the town of Birmington.

But by the time he reached the front door he decided against it. There were loose ends that needed tying up around here, and the main one was Walter.

When the time came, he would take care of his brother, whether the man was a cop or not.

But for now, Randy felt as if he had taught Walter a lesson. He a.s.sumed that Walter wouldn't mess with him again for at least a little while.

He stood on his front porch and considered taking the car. He could drive to Caruthers, but why waste the gas? Besides, he wanted to get some fresh air and exercise.

He wanted to leave the night behind him and move on with his life. The white wooden door slammed shut behind Randy Barcer as he made his way down the rickety steps of his house. Walking out of his yard and down the sidewalk towards Caruthers, Randy never noticed the man following closely behind him, but not too close to be discovered.

Randy had also never seen the white piece of paper that had been taped to his front door, so he never read what was written on the piece of paper in black words.

Written in black sharpie ink were two words.

I WIN.

BODY OF BIRMINGTON RESIDENT FOUND IN ALLEYWAY!.

Randy Barcer, a resident of Birmington North Carolina, was found shot to death in the alleyway next to Caruthers Coffee. His body was discovered by Amber Dillenger, an employee of Caruthers who had gone outside for a break.

The investigator a.s.signed to the case stated Barcer was shot several times in the chest and head. Police are calling this an execution style killing. They are currently holding resident Thomas Brown for questioning. Thomas Brown was reported being seen around the alleyway at the time of the shooting. Several gunshots were also reported but the incident wasn't investigated by police, who believed them to be quote "Mere fireworks". Apparently the alleyway was a known hangout for teens that were known to shoot off fireworks such as m-80s. At the time of the printing, no more information has been given out by police.

At this time the investigation is on going.

October 14, 2008 HORRIFYING DISCOVERY AT MURDER VICTIM RANDY BARCER'S HOME!

Police today entered the home of Randy Barcer who was found dead recently behind Caruthers Coffee shop to discover a gruesome scene. After receiving a tip that Randy Barcer was a killer and a rapist, the police investigated the home. It was reported that Randy Barcer had brutally murdered his only daughter and her body could be found in the bas.e.m.e.nt of Randy Barcer's home. Upon entering the home, the first thing the police reported was a feeling of nausea due to the odor of rotting meat. They followed the odor to the bas.e.m.e.nt where they found the bodies of two girls. After the police notified the families of the two girls, we have found out their ident.i.ties are none other than the two missing girls.

Tiffany Brown and Victory Sweets. Eight and nine years of age. According to the coroner's report, both had been raped and viciously murdered. Upon discovery of this gruesome scene the police also discovered a homemade crematorium. Upon further searching of the house, they found the remains of several other bodies buried within the concrete floor of the bas.e.m.e.nt, two of them being those of his wife and daughter who had disappeared years ago. The crematorium itself was filled with the bones of young children. As of yet the children remain unidentified. Walter Brenemen, the lead investigator on the scene had this to say, "The discovery of such a horrible crime has left a dark stain on this town. I only regret that Randy Barcer is not alive so that justice could be done to this horrible man."

Detective Walter Brenemen, following his instincts, checked the nearby homes and discovered the neighbors were also missing. Trained dogs were brought in soon after and after the dogs detected something in the backyard of the Barcer home, the police began excavating Randy Barcer's backyard and discovered the bodies of his neighbors, twenty in all.

Preliminary reports state all the bodies appear to have been stabbed to death before being buried. The state of decay of the bodies has led investigators to believe that they were all killed several years ago. This is puzzling for police as none of the neighbors had been reported missing in all those years.

October 19, 2008 TOWN OF BURMAN BURNS TO THE GROUND!.

This weekend the small town of Burman North Carolina inexplicably burned to the ground. The entire town! The population of the town was a total of seventy two. Police and firefighters on the scene report that the fire was started at the edge of town at Burman West Baptist Church. Although it was made of stone, almost all of the church also burned to the ground. The home of local Baptist Preacher, Weston Hill, and his wife, Heidi Hill, located to the left of the church, had also burned down with both occupants inside. Police and fire officials are puzzled to what exactly caused the fire in the first place. Even more puzzling is the fact that the fire had spread to every house and building in the town, though the church was exactly two miles away from the town proper. The Fire Marshal's report states that the trees near the church had caught fire and with a prevailing high wind, this was how the fire spread to the rest of the town. It has been racked up to a freak accident where all conditions were just right. The death toll has been large, multiple families having died in the fire. As of yet no survivors have been found.

The investigation is still on going despite the Fire Marshal's final report.
