Queen of the Mad Dog Knights Chapter 4

Sorry for the delay in release, my Editor was busy with his Finals and I was stuck in a mental slump (partially because WordPress was giving me problems, like deleting my work when I tried to access the draft from my mobile, reverting to earlier versions, etc) and then as you all probably know : My Editor sent me a letter of resignation, so I had to find a new one. anyway these last 2 months were full of unexpected problems but I think the worst has pa.s.sed and from now on it’s gonna be a smoother sailing (I Hope!).

some of you were wondering about a “certain person” *Hint, Hint* in the comment section last chapter so for those of you who were interested – plz read and enjoy finding out if you were right.

　さて、私がこの国に来て、一ヶ月ほどが経ちました。

Sate, watashi ga kono kuni ni ki te, ichi kagetsu hodo ga tachi mashi ta。

Now then, around one month has pa.s.sed since I have come to this country。

Karada mo zenkai shi, oishii gohan to tekido na undou, sos.h.i.te teresa san no oyatsu de genki ippai desu。

My body is also at full power,  I am full of energy from the delicious meals and appropriate exercise, as well as Theresa-san’s snacks in-between meals。
ダシバも見事にコロコロとした、デブシ……いえ、コロシバになりました。

Dashiba mo migoto ni korokoro to s.h.i.ta, debushi…… ie, koroshiba ni nari mas.h.i.ta。

Bashiba also splendidly became a round, round,  fatshi…… No, a roundshiba 。

Sos.h.i.te heya de nukunuku shi te iru koto ni aki mashi ta。

And I became tired of being carefree in this room。

「I cannot comprehend that feeling though。rather then that！　———— I am always intruding here」(TL note -she means she is useless and a freeloader)

「Osewa nante tondemo nai。Koko subete rīzerotte sama no mono。Mushiro motto osewa o shi taku te tamaranai no desu ga。Naze motto iitsuke te kudasara nai no deshou ka」

「'Intruding'? Absolutely not。everything here belongs to Lizelotte-sama。Rather I want to take care of you more so much that I can’t stand it 。I wonder why wouldn’t you order me more」

「……Hanashi o modoshi mashou。Iikagen, watashi ni kono kuni no jitsujou to watashi ga su beki shigoto o oshie te kudasai。Tada meshi o tsudukeru koto hodo kowai kari ha nai no da to, o gikei sama kara osowari mashi ta」

「…… Let's return the conversation 。could you already, please teach me this country’s actual state of affairs and the job I need to do。I have already been taught by my step-brother-sama, that there is no debt scarier then one earned by free meals」

Watashi no yousei ni, reonharuto sama ha egao o koorase masu。

To my request, Lionheart-sama freezes his smiling face。

Sos.h.i.te kanjin no koto o kotae zu ni, naname jou no koto o tazune te mairi mashi ta。

And without answering the main/cruical point, asks/inquires about the showing obliqueness。

「……Rīzerotte sama ha, tokidoki『Nandeyanen』ya『Dousunnen』Nado, ano kuni no nishi no kotoba o hanasare masu yo ne。Sore mo kore mo, subete o gikei sama no eikyou desho u ka」

「…… Lizelotte-sama,  sometimes you say words from the west of that country such as『what the heck』 as well as『what should I do』, right? All of that, I wonder, is from the step-brother-sama’s influence」(T.N: the words in italics are spoken in kansai-ben/dialect)

Masashikuwa ese seihou go toiu rashii no desu ga。

To be More accurate I heard that it’s called the Essei western language。
生まれ育ちが西方でなければ真の発音は難しく、下手に頑張れば頑張るほど地元民に軽蔑されてしまう言語だそうです。実に哀しそうな顔で「どうして俺は、最初から西方に生まれなかったんや」といつも嘆いていました。

Umare sodachi ga seihou de nakere ba shin no hatsuon ha muzukashiku, heta ni ganbare baganbaru hodo jimotomin ni keibetsu sare te shimau gengo da sou desu。Jitsuni kanashi sou na kao de「Dous.h.i.te ore ha, saisho kara seihou ni umare nakattanya」To itsumo nagei te i mashi ta。

It seems that it’s a language that is hard to get the true p.r.o.nunciation unless one was born and raised in the West, and the more half-heartedly you try hard, the more you will be discriminated by the locals。 With a truly sad look on his face, he always lamented 「Why I wasn’t born in the West from the start?」。

「Ee, seihou go ha kare ni osowari mashi ta。Somosomo kare ga i nakere ba, watashi ha jikka ka shisetsu de touni chikaratsuki te i ta desho u。Hontouni kare wa ikiru subeo oshie te kureta onjin na no desu」

「Yes, I was taught the western languege by him。in the first place if it wasn’t for him, I probably would have exhausted my power at my house or at the orphanage a long ago。he is really my savior that taught to me the way to survive」
「そうですか……」

「Sou desu ka……」

「Is that so……」

Reonharuto sama wa me o sorashi, shidaini sowasowa shihajime mashi ta。

Lionheart-sama looked away, and gradually started to fidget。
ノミですか？　いや、それはダシバくらいですよね。流石に。

Nomi desu ka? iya, sore ha dashiba kurai desu yo ne 。Sasuga ni 。

Is it fleas？　no way,  that is only at Bashiba’s level。as one would expect。

「Gikei no koto desu kara genki de yatte iru desho u kedo。Reonharuto sama。Mou, watashi no sokoku to gaikou koushou ha owatta no desho u? gikei ni o tegami o kai te mo yoi deshou ka?」

「It’s step-brother we are talking about, so he is probably doing well。Lionheart-sama。have the diplomatic negotiations with my homeland already finished? May I write a letter to step-brother? 」
「いや、その。少々お待ちください」

「Iya, sono。Shoushou omachi kudasai」

「No, well。please wait for a moment」

Kare ha ushiro ni hikae te i ta keibi hei o yobi, kosokoso to shiji o dasare mashi ta。Soutou kinkyuu no you na no desho u。Keibi hei ha awate te hosonagai inu ni sugata o kae te hashirisatte iki masu。

He called the guard who was waiting behind him, and sneakily gave him instructions。It’s probably a considerably pressing errand。the gaurd changed into a long-and-narrow dog in a hurry and ran off。

Watashi ha iya na yokan ga shi mashi ta。

I had a bad premonition。
祖国を陥落させた後、すぐに王族を始め、継母たち全員を解放してくださったと連絡をいただきましたが……実は嘘だったのでしょうか。

Sokoku o kanraku sase ta nochi, sugu ni ouzoku o hajime, keibo tachi zenin o kaihou shi tekudasatta to renraku o itadaki mashi ta ga ……jitsuha uso datta no desho u ka。

After my homeland had fallen, I received a message saying that starting with the royalty, step-mother and everyone were released but…… it could actually be a lie。

Shibaraku shi te, watashi ha oukyuu no ousetsuma he no idou o unagasare mashi ta。

After a short while, I was prompted to move to the parlour of the royal palace。
レオンハルト様と二人、何かを待ちます。

Reonharuto sama to ni nin, nani ka o machi masu。

The two of us,With Lionheart-sama and me, are waiting for something。
扉が開くと、二人の兵が絨毯で簀巻きにされた何かを転がしました。

Tobira ga hiraku to, ninin no hei ga juutan de sumaki ni sare ta nanika o korogashi mas.h.i.ta。

When the door opens,  2 soldiers threw inside something rolled inside a carpet。

Imomushi no you ni ugomeku sore。

It squirms like a Caterpillar。
耳を澄ますと『なにすんのー！』という悲鳴が聞こえてきます。

Mimi o sumasu to『nani sun noー！』toiu himei ga kikoe te ki masu。

When I strain my ears, I heard a voice saying『what the heck are you doingー！』。

Gikei desu! !

It’s step-brother! !

「O gikei sama！」To, watashi ha awate te imomushi ni kakeyori masu。

「Esteemed step-brother-sama! 」I rushed over to the caterpillar in panic。(TL note: from now on instead of esteemed step-brother-sama I will use Ogikei-sama)
しかしたどり着く前に、目の前で芋虫が長い軍靴に踏みつけられます。

Shikashi tadoritsuku mae ni, me no mae de imomushi ga nagai gunka ni fumitsukerare masu。

However before I could reach him, right before my eyes the caterpillar is being trampled on by a long military boot。

『Ita~tsu』

「不審者のくせに女王様の前で汚く叫ぶんじゃないよ、このゴミムシが」

「Fushinsha no kuse ni joou sama no maede kitanaku sakebun janai yo, kono gomimushi ga」

「even though you are just an intruder don’t shout such filthy words before the Queen, you trash bug」

Omowazu katamari, ue o miage mashi ta。

Unintentionally freezing, I looked upwards。
半ズボンの足を辿ると、義兄と同い年くらいの少年が踏みつけた芋虫を冷酷な表情で見下ろしています。本気で義兄をゴミムシと思っているようです。

Han zubon no ashi o tadoru to, gikei to onaidoshi kurai no shounen ga fumitsuke ta imomushi oreikoku na hyoujou de mioroshi te i masu。Honki de gikei o gomimushi to omotte iru you desu。

My gaze Following the semi-trousered leg, there is a boy around the same age as step-brother looking down on the trampled down caterpillar with a cold-hearted expression。It looks like he seriously considers step-brother to be a trash bug。

Silky smooth hair, as if the pigment was taken out of it, cut at the shoulders, decorates his brown skin。his slender body is dressed in a black military uniform, and at one hand he holds a short whip。

Shikkoku no me ha kobore n bakari ni ookiku, chiisana kuchibiru wa pukkuri tos.h.i.te, iroppoku。

The jet black eyes are as big as if spilling over, and the small lips are plump, seems almost erotic。
こんな美少年は初めて見ました。

Konna bishounen ha hajimete mi mashi ta。

It’s the first time I saw such a pretty boy。

Kyougaku shi ta watashi to me ga atta ka.s.shoku no bishounen ha, totanni hana ga sai ta you niwarai, watashi ni aisatsu o shi te ki ta no desu。

The pretty boy with the brown skin met eyes with the amazed me, immediately smiled like bloomed flowers, and greeted me。

「Hajime mas.h.i.te, rīzerotte sama! dai go butai taichou no marusu・von・maruchīzu da yo! ansatsu to sennyuu to goumon ga tokui da kara itsu demo meiji te ne! 『maru chan』 tte yon de aigan ken ni s.h.i.te kure tara motto ureshii na!」

「Nice to meet you, Lizelotte-sama! The captain of the 5th division, Mars・Von・Maltese is me! I am good at a.s.sa.s.sination, infiltration, and torture so order me whenever you want ok! If you call me 『Mar-chan』 and make me your beloved pet dog, I will be even happier!」

Takame no kawairashii koe to, ashimoto no joukyou ga mattaku aimasen。

With a sweet high-pitched voice, he doesn’t fit the situation under his feet 。
後ろで「愛玩されるのは私です。家犬と言えば私でしょう！？」と、レオンハルト様がおっしゃっていますが、これはスルーでよいでしょう。

Ushiro de「Aigan sareru no ha watashi desu。Ie inu to ie ba watashi desho u！？」To, reonharuto sama ga osshatte i masu ga, korewa surū de yoi desho u。

Behind me, Lionheart-sama is saying「the one who is the beloved pet is me。 If you talk about a Domestic dog, it’s about me right！？」but, that is probably ok if I ignore。

Tonikaku watashi ha imomushi o, moto i gikei no kaihou o nozomi mas.h.i.ta。

Anyway I wished for the caterpillar, or rather, for step-brother to be released。
しぶしぶマルス様と兵士さんたちは簀巻きを解き、中身を転がしました。

Shibushibu marusu sama to heishi san tachi ha sumaki o toki, nakami o korogashi mas.h.i.ta。

Reluctantly Mars-sama and the soldiers-san untied the rug, and rolled out the contents inside 。

Kurokami ni kurobuchi megane。Chuuniku chuuzei de, usankusa sou na egao no juusan sai。

Black haired with black rimmed gla.s.ses。A 13 years old of medium build with a shady smile。
やっぱり義兄です！

Yappari gikei desu!

As expected it’s step-brother!

「O gikei sama！ daijoubu desu ka！？」

「Ogikei-sama！are you alright ！？」
「やっぱリーゼで当たったわ。それにしても大丈夫に見える～？　ほんま、ひどい目に遭ったわ」

「Yappa rīze de atatta wa。Sorenis.h.i.temo daijoubu ni mieru～？Honma, hidoi me ni attawa」

「As I thought it was Rize。Even so do I look alright～？really, I had some awful experiences」

Ryou hiji o tatete okiagaru gikei。Karera no senaka ni tsui ta hokori o hisshi ni haratte iru to, mawari kara「Shuujin no kuse ni rīzerotte sama ni sawatte moraeru nante」To s.h.i.tto no shisen ga ton de ki masu。Mushi, mushi 。

Raising both elbows, step-brother stands up。when I desperately brushed away the dust that was on his back, from the surrounding comes a jealous gaze saying「although he is just a prisoner, to have Lizelotte-sama touch him 」。Ignore Ignore。

Yoku miru to, gikei ha shuujin ga kiru you na shatsu to zubon o kisaserarete imas.h.i.ta 。

Looking closely, step-brother was being dressed in shirt and trouseres like those that a prisoner wears。
解放された彼は地面にあぐらを掻いて、はーっと深く息を吐きます。

Kaihou sare ta kare ha jimen ni agura o kai te, ha–tto f.u.kaku iki o haki masu。

After being released, he sat crossed legged on the ground, and with a ‘ha~’ took a deep breath。

「Ore, zutto koko ni tsukamatte tan yo」

「I, was being held here the whole time」
「撤退後、戦車部隊に紛れ込んでいたのを捕獲しておりました！　不敬にもリーゼロッテ様の兄と名乗るものですから、取り調べを念入りに「しようと思っていたのだけど、伝令が来たから中止したんだ。つまらないの」」

「Tettai go, sensha butai ni magirekon de i ta no o hokaku shi te ori mashi ta！f.u.kei ni mo rīzerotte sama no ani to nanoru mono desu kara, torishirabe o neniri ni「Shiyo u to omotte i ta no da kedo, denrei ga ki ta kara chuushi shi ta n da。Tsumaranai no」」

「After the retreat, he was capured after slipping into a tank unit! Because he calls himself Lizelotte-sama’s older brother in blasphemy, for coution’s sake investigating him 「Is what I  was thinking of doing but, because a messenger came, it was suspended。how boring」」

Marusu sama ha muchi o katahou no tenohira ni uchitsuke te, kuchibiru o togarase masu。

Mars-sama hit the whip on the side of his palm, and pouts his lips in displeasure。
一方で義兄は、牢屋で両隣の独房の方から色々情報を仕入れていたらしく、ここがもう一つの大陸でケンネル王国、かつ犬人の国であることまで理解していました。

Ippou de gikei ha, rouya de ryoudonari no dokubou no hou kara iroiro jouhou o shiire te i tarashiku, koko ga mou hitotsu no tairiku de kenneru oukoku, katsu inu jin no kuni de aru koto maderikai shi te i mashi ta 。

On the other hand step-brother, has appearantly learned all kinds of information in jail from both sides of his isolation cell, that here is an another continent and Kennel kingdom, moreover he understood as far as that it’s country of the Dog-kin in the past。

「Rīze ga kichou na ouzoku no ikinokori to ha ne。Babaa no onna no kan ga atatta wa」

「To think that Rize is the survivor of the precious royal family。the old hag’s  woman’s intuition hit the mark」

Gikei ha, nazo no gunjin tachi no totsuzen no shuugeki de tsukamatta toki ni, gunjin no ichi ninkara「Rīzerotte sama o kurushime ta tsumi o tsugunawaseru」Toiu kotoba o kiita sou desu。

Apparently step-brother, at the time when he was caught at the raid of the mysterious soldiers, heard the words「we will make you repent for the sin of causing Lizelotte-sama to suffer」from one of the soldiers。
半狂乱になる母と兄二人をよそに、どうやら彼らは義妹の関係者であると当たりをつけました。

Han kyouran ni naru haha to ani ni nin o yoso ni, douyara karera ha gimai no kankei sha de aru toatari o tsuke mashi ta。

it seems that beside mother and the two older brothers who had Becom half frenzied, anyone related to their little step-sister was labeled a target。
更に突然解放された際に孤児院を調べ、浮浪児から話を集めました。そして私が山に逃げたらしい推測して捜索をしていると、明らかに首都に駐留していた馬のない馬車の足跡が一直線に続いている。

Sarani totsuzen kaihou sareta saini kojiin o shirabe, furou ji kara hanashio atsume mas.h.i.ta。sos.h.i.te watashi ga yama ni nige ta rashii suisoku shi te sousaku o shi te iru to, akiraka ni shuto nichuuryuu shi te i ta uma no nai basha no ashiato ga icchokusen ni tsudui te iru。

Furthermore after being suddenly released, he investigated the orphanage and gathered together the stories from the vagrant children。and speculating that I ran to the mountains when he conducted a search, there were clearly tracks of the horseless carriages that were stationed at the capital going in a straight line。

Naraba ano bashatachi ga takusan chuuryuu s.h.i.te iru basho ga ayashii to hatte ita soudesu。

If that’s the case, he thought that the place where a lot of the carriages are being stationed is suspicious, so he staked it out。

Sos.h.i.te, watashi ga tsure te ikare ta to kakushin shi ta gikei ha daitan ni mo, zen gun ga tettaishikake ta sai ni uma no nai basha o yusou suru kyodai na fune ni hairikon da toiu no desu。

And, it means step-brother that confirmed that I was taken away, and when the entire army commenced retreat, he even boldly sneaked into the gigantic ship transporting the horseless carriages。
犬人はすぐに匂いで侵入者に気が付きました。

inu jin ha sugu ni nioi de shinnyuu sha ni kigatsuki mashi ta。

The Dog-kin immediately noticed the intruder by smell。
だけどマルス様が止めたそうです。「あいつからリーゼロッテ様の匂いがするから、様子を見ろ」と。

Dakedo marusu sama ga tome ta sou desu。「Aitsu kara rīzerotte sama no nioi ga suru kara, yousu o miro 」to。

But Mars-sama stopped them it seems。saying「Because Lizelotte-sama’s smell is coming from him, let’s watch the situation」 。

Tamatama gikei ha dashiba ni ae tara nani ka ni tsukae nai ka to, watashi no ribon o nan ko ka nioi no shihyou ni motte ki te i mashi ta 。Sore ha hontouni un ga yokatta to omoi masu。

In the case step-brother accidentally meets Bashiba by chance thinking he might be of use for something, he brought a few of my ribbons as smell indicator。I think that it was really a stroke of good luck。
さらに無事に密航を成功させたあと、マルス様が愉しく取り調べようとしたら上から声が掛かって、この状況とのこと。

Sarani buji ni mikkou o seikou sase ta ato, marusu sama ga tanoshiku torishirabeyo u to shi tara uekara koe ga kakatte, kono joukyou to no koto。

moreover after allowing him to safely smuggle along, when Mars-sama was about to start investigating him in joy, a voice came calling from above, thus leading to this situation。

Omoidashi mashi ta。

I recalled。
義兄は結構な強運の持ち主なのです。

Gikei ha kekkou na tsuyo un no mochinushi na no desu。

Step-brother is an owner of a considerably strong good luck。

Sonna men no kawa no atsu sa to tsuyoshi un ga torie no gikei ga, ousetsuma no sofā ni suwarinaoshi, reonharuto sama to marusu sama no mae de jiko shoukai o shi mashi ta。

That step-brother who’s thick skin and strong luck are his strong points, fixing his posture on the parlour’s sofa, introduced himself in front Lionheart-sama and Mars-sama。

———— By the way in formal places, he fixes his Essie western language to the standard language。

「Ore no na wa bado・rakku・haidegā to moushi masu。Konkai wa gouinni tsuite ki te shimatte moushiwake arimasen。Giri to wa ie taisetsu na imouto ga yuukai sareta de wa nai ka to, shinpai datta no desu」

「My name is Bad・Luck・Heidegger 。This time I am very sorry for coming along forcefully 。Although she is an in-law, I was worried whether or not my precious little sister was kidnapped」
「大切ですか？　それにしてはリーゼロッテ様が悲惨な目にあっても全く守れていませんでしたね」

「Taisetsu desu ka?  sore ni s.h.i.te wa rīzerotte sama ga hisan na me ni atte mo mattaku mamorete imasen des.h.i.ta ne」

「Precious you say? Even for saying something like that, when Lizelotte-sama went through miserable experiences you didn’t protect her at all, right」
「ええ、どんなに反省しても取り返せません。ですが、これからは年齢を言い訳になんていたしません。むかつく兄どもが居る実家など捨てても構いません。どうか、今後義妹を守れるチャンスをいただけませんでしょうか」

「Ee, donnani hansei s.h.i.temo torikaese masen。Desuga, korekara ha nenreio iiwake ni nante itashi masen。Mukatsuku ani domo ga iru jikka nado sute te mo kamai masen。Dou ka, kongo gimai o mamoreru chansu o itadake mase n desho u ka」

「Yes, no matter how much I reflect on it I can’t take it back。However, from now on I won’t do such a thing like make my age an excuse。Something like the house with my irritating older brothers in it, I don’t mind abandoning it。」

『Shoujiki, monnashi ushiro date nashi de ore pinchi desu yan。Gimai yo nantoka s.h.i.teya』Toiu, gikei no kokoro no koe ga kikoe te ki mashi ta 。

『franky, with a just empty backing I am in a pinch。Oh step-sister of mine do something about it』is what I heard from step-brother inner-voice。
私は立ち上がり、レオンハルト様に懇願します。

Watashi ha tachiagari, reonharuto sama ni kongan shi masu 。

Standing up, I pet.i.tioned to Lionheart-sama。

「onegai shi masu! gikei ga anshin shi te kuraseru you ni tasuke te kudasai!」

「Please! Please Help so step-brother can live with a peace of mind!」
「ええ、まあ、リーゼロッテ様がそうおっしゃられるのでしたら……一応大切な方ですし……」

「Ee, maa, rīzerotte sama ga sou ossharareru no deshi tara ……Ichiou taisetsu na hou desu shi……」

「Err, well, if that’s what Lizelotte-sama says then……. in the first place he is on the important side too……」
「どうして歯切れが悪いのですか！？」

「Dous.h.i.te hagire ga warui no desu ka！？」

「Why is toothing no good！？」(TL:Sorry I didn’t find anything for this歯切れ that make sense!)(ED2: It’s ok)

Shibushibu, toitta reonharuto sama ni, yoko de muchi o waki nioite cha o susuru marusu sama ga「youwa are da yo, mure no juni no mondai sa」 to osshai mashi ta。

To the Lionheart-sama that was saying so reluctantly, Mars-sama that is leaving the whip by his side and is sipping on tea next to him,  said 「In other words it’s that, it’s a problem of the Pack’s ranking」。

「nee, bado kun。donnani kimi ga rīzerotte sama ni aniki fuu o f.u.kaso u to, ak.u.made koko de wa shinzan sha。Shikou no kata ni taisuru taido o kaeta hou ga ii to omowa nai ka?  nanise koko wa inu no oukoku dakara ne」

kirakira kagayaku kuroi shinju no yō na hitomi ni mitsumerareru toguratsukimasu ga,「sore wa chotto… … 」to nantoka kotowarimasu。

I was shaken/reeled by being stared at by the sparkling shining black pearl like eyes but, with a「that is a bit/little… … 」I somehow was able to refuse。

meisai f.u.ku no hito o shikai ni hairanu yō, inu o dakiagemas.h.i.ta。

In a way so it won’t enter the Camouflage uniform person’s sight, I lifted up the dog in my arms。
温ぬくくて腕にジャストサイズでもふもふです。

nuku (nuku) ku te ude ni jasuto saizu de mofumofu desu。

He is lukewarm (lenient) and mofumofu with a just size in my arms。

By the way, in the middle of chasing the Saucer in the middle of chasing a rabbit in the middle of chasing a twig in the middle of chasing the bag of Jerky that was blown away by the wind, it seems that BaShiba has forgot about his original goal。
