He keyed in the pa.s.sword and opened the door. When he got to the living room, he was surprised to see Kim and her friends sprawled on the floor with popcorn everywhere. It seems they were having a movie marathon.
Isabella's eyes and mouth were agape. She hurriedly brushed off the popcorn on her body as she got up, "How come you're here?" She asked almost stumbling towards him. Her appearance less than elegant.
She cursed under her breath. Why did he have to see her in her current state. She shot daggers at Sean, he was the one who started the popcorn fight. Now, in front of her crush…. How embarra.s.sing!
Carl raised his brow at her, then he recalled she was Chamberlain's sister. "You're friends with Kim?" He frowned.
Carl did not know she was the friend that Kim was talking about. When he went to pick her up from the club, he did not see any of them. In the video, he saw only Sean. He had a.s.sumed her female friend was her roommate but never Chamberlain's sister.
He wondered if he should tell Kim to stay away from them or leave it be. His thoughts were interrupted by Kim, "You're back so early?"
Carl smiled warmly, "I finished up early."
Sean who had been lying on the floor also got up.
The three of them stood on one side while Carl stood by himself.
Isabella was frantically trying to clean up her disheveled hair and rumbled clothes. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.
"Who is he?" Sean asked.
Carl looked at Kim, wondering what she would say to her friends.
Unexpectedly, Kim turned to Sean before answering, "My brother."
At that moment, Carl felt he should have listened to Chamberlain and eaten that lunch even if his fianceé was against it.
"The one that picked you up from the club?" Sean recalled.
Carl was sure that she had made her decision, he was her brother. His chest tightened. He felt like he couldn't breathe.
"Excuse me," he said in a wobbly voice. He rushed upstairs.
He had always felt she would eventually say yes to him. From when they made out on the bed, he felt she liked him but was afraid to open up to him.
Was it that she couldn't reject him openly? Or did she really like that guy?
He really didn't know, all he could think of was that video of them laughing and playing together. His eyes reddened.
He should have known she wasn't ready for a relationship and stayed away. Now he was hurt. It was his fault. She just began life, she could not be tied down by him.
Carl did not know how long he sat on the floor. The silence was starting to get to his head, it made him uncomfortable.
He stepped into the bathroom and turned on the tap and the shower. Sometimes noise was a form of a.s.surance that you are not alone.
Time trickled by, eventually the warm bath made him better. He stepped into his closet to dress up.
Once he opened the door, he saw Kim lying on the bed. There was a tray of food on the nightstand.
Without a word, he sat down to eat. Though he was eating, the food tasted bland to him, he felt her arms wrapped around his body. He shuddered at her touch before pulling away her arms.
"What is it?" She asked.
He scoffed. Was she joking right now? He was about to explode at her question. "I'm your brother, remember?"
Kim could not see his expression as she was behind him.
He felt sickened by the meal. The word he uttered made the food taste awful. He got up carrying the tray. Kim held his arm.
"Let go," he whispered.
"What is wrong with you?" She questioned.
Carl dropped the tray, scaring Kim. The ceramics shattered as the food splattered.
He finally snapped.
Clenching his fist, he scoffed, "I'm your brother?" He found it ridiculous the more he thought about it.
"I didn't know you let your 'brother' kiss you, touch you. I seriously did not know you could grind against your brother." He thundered.
At that point, Kim knew she f-ucked up. She felt horrible about herself. He thoughts ran wild, "It's just…"
"It's just what? If you had introduced me as your friend, I would have been mad too but not like this. Are my feelings a joke to you? You're not willing to try because you're scared of getting hurt but you conveniently hurt me over and over again. You know what? It's fine, this only confirms you don't actually love… I mean you never said you did anyway."
He laughed maniacally.
Kim was scared. She had never seen him this way before and it was her fault.
"I would have appreciated it if you had rejected me outrightly. But you didn't. Why did you give me hope when you were never going to be mine." Towards the end, his voice turned low, almost inaudible.
Tears began rolling down his eyes and Kim was too shocked to react.
"You're really insufferable. All you care about is your pride. You always try to go over the line with me when we both know you're not ready. Why do you do that?... Why do I even love you?"
His low voice was almost as if he had come to terms with it waiting for her response, but she said not. He felt nothing but disappointment.
"Forget it!"
With that he stormed off.
