Kim did not expect it to be a 5,000 meters run and registration was almost a D100. She was not even aware of the event in the first place. Kim was sure she couldn't run even a thousand metres, and this was five. Shaking her head, she recalled saying she would watch and not partic.i.p.ate.
But before she could say it again, Sean handed her a white tee, a white headband and the partic.i.p.ation kit. Turns out he had to pay extra for the partic.i.p.ation kit.
Looking at the banners and flyers, it was a Rainbow Tour. Without much thought, she concluded it was for the LGBTQ community. It's not news that the rainbow symbolizes pride.
The number of people, Kim was sure was in thousands. She could not deny that she was scared of crowded places because she always felt something could go wrong and then a stampede.
Star Country was relatively safe, she was well aware of that fact but crowded, crampy and noisy places made her panicky. Maybe it wasn't a good idea after all but thankfully she was with people she knew.
While Kim tried to calm her panicking heart, Isabella began looking around, taking pictures, posting them online. Sean acted like their father, guarding and watching over them.
Since it was a casual outing with friends, they all work tees and running shoes. So they were prepared for the run. Both Isabella and Sean wore denim trousers while Kim wore shorts. She didn't have thigh gap like Isabella so she became worried her thighs would chaff after running and sweating for a while. Suddenly, wearing shorts became a bad idea.
Those watching and those throwing the color had taken their places. Those partic.i.p.ating too had began taking their place at the starting line.
The colours beginning with red would be thrown at them every fifteen minutes. and the different colors stations where 714 meters away from each other to make up for the distance.
"How do I protect my eyes?" Isabella pointed out a problem.
"About that, they are out of goggles, so try to protect them yourself." Explained Sean.
"Oh well, let's take a group picture." Isabella quickly changed the topic. She was eager to show her followers all the fun she was having.
After taking a few group pictures and pictures of the environment, Isabella made a suggestion, "We should stay at the edge, that way, we can easily get out of the race."
Sean nodded in acknowledgement, "Stay close too and be mindful of your bags."
Isabella rolled her eyes at him, "Be careful of you pickpockets too, DAD."
Kim rolled back in laughter as she watched her friends bicker. She was the silent one that made little or no contribution to the conversation. She smiled and laughed from time to time as she was not sure of what to say.
Not long after, the race officially began, and the partic.i.p.ants were doused in red color by the red station. They started off walking, some other ran while others jogged.
Isabella began videoing the event while she walked. From time to time, she would ask Kim and Sean questions or walk behind them to give them s.p.a.ce to talk.
Kim was oblivious to the situation and Sean was thankful for the alone time even though they were not really alone. Isabella especially recorded scenes were Sean would shield her from other partic.i.p.ants or tell a joke, making Kim laugh.
To Isabella, her ship would be set sail, sooner or later. Unknown to her that it was never going to set sail but will be wrecked over and over again.
Setting her phone aside, she urged them to run so they could get to the orange station. Remembering the partic.i.p.ation kit, she took out the color packet, quietly snuck over to both of them before pouring it on Kim's hair and then on Sean before running ahead.
Kim was livid at the amount of color, her hair was very long and was hard to take care of, after yelling cusses, she calmed down because she realized it was bound to happen sooner or later since she did not make arrangements to cover her hair.
"Come back her Bella," she yelled, running after Isabella. As she ran, she took out her color parket, it was time for revenge.
"Hey! Wait for me." Exclaimed Sean before he hurried after them.
Somehow, they both arrived at the yellow station breathless. Kim not wanting to give up easily, open the color packet, yanked Isabella's tee open before pouring in the color then she poured the remainder on her hair before stumbling out of the tracks laughing.
Thinking it was over, she found a shade to rest but Sean snuck up on her and emptied his own on her hair. While they bickered and chased each other, Isabella took a video of them, adding her own commentary and posted it online. She sat crossed leg on the ground, updating her friends and followers on the event.
