Chapter 4: Bai Qiwei
Upon hearing what Bai Suxue said, Lvwu, who had only one breath left, gazed at Bai Suxue with strong hatred. She yelled: “You will not die a natural death! I’ll retaliate against you even if I’m dead! I’m loyal to you all the time and have served you for so many years! You will not die a natural death!”
Bai Suxue was even more furious when hearing Lvwu’s words. She said: “Why are you still motionless? Take her away. I don’t want her to bring the bad luck to my room.”
Bai Aoxue, however, didn’t know what happened in Bai Suxue’s courtyard.
Bai Aoxue stared blankly into a copper mirror reflected a face which was almost the same as the face before she was teleported into this world.
She was granted the t.i.tle of Alluring Sura in the preceding world because of her beauty when she was carrying out the tasks.
Although not as mature in the preceding world, the enchanting face had a 70 percent similarity with her expression in that world. The piercing eyebrows, the stubborn and cold phoenix eyes and the slightly-pressed lips were the same as that in the preceding world, who was called Bai Aoxue, the Alluring Sura, and who killed numerous people.
When Bai Aoxue was lost in thought, Bai Suxue and her entourage came into the courtyard.
“Bai Aoxue, you, the b.i.t.c.h. Come out,” Bai Suxue yelled as if she were a majestic princess. She stood in the courtyard, putting on a domineering air.
Upon hearing the uproar, Bai Aoxue slightly raised her eyebrows. She said: “She comes really quickly. The dinner begins.”
Mumian was concerned all the time, so when she found Bai Suxue came here, she pulled at Bai Aoxue and said: “Miss, don’t go outside. She will beat you!”
Contrary with Mumian who was worried, Bai Aoxue slowly stepped forward to the door. She said: “Mumian. Don’t you forget what I said just now. I’ll rely on and fear n.o.body from today onwards. A merely Bai Suxue cannot throw me into confusion. Remember it, Mumian. If you still want to be with me together in the late days, you have to trust me absolutely.”
The supercilious words came out from Bai Aoxue’s mouth, bearing the ability to convince people.
Mumian didn’t prevent her again upon hearing what Bai Aoxue said. She followed behind Bai Aoxue, and they walked outside the house.
After walking out of the door, Bai Aoxue saw Bai Suxue, standing there like a moon surrounded by a myriad of stars.
Bai Aoxue looked sideways at her younger sister in disgust. She said coldly: “I don’t know why you are here, sister. Don’t you forget I’m still uncomfortable since I fell into the pond? Do you come here specially to visit me?”
Bai Suxue changed the color on her face upon hearing what Bai Aoxue said, looking at her elder sister in surprise.
She was amazed by what Bai Aoxue said, keeping wondering what she really meant.
“There is a misunderstanding between us, sister. My maidservant Lvwu was injured in your courtyard. She told me you bullied her for no reasons. So, I come over to see what happened.” Bai Suxue said. She buried the face in her hands, feigning an innocent smile.
Looking at Bai Suxue’s affected expression, Bai Aoxue said: “I simply helped you discipline a maidservant. A mere flunkey dared to forget her own ident.i.ty and defy a master. I know you are skillful in training your maidservants. But I don’t know what was wrong with Lvwu. She seemed to forget her status. Tell me, my sister, can a dog be the master? Can a turtledove take over the nest of a magpie?”
Bai Aoxue’s words were pungent. Bai Suxue, who had feigned a smiling expression just now, changed the color on her face.
She didn’t envision that Bai Aoxue, who was cowardly when getting bullied before, could become so sharp-tongued. Everybody in presence knew that Bai Aoxue was scolding Bai Suxue in a roundabout way. She was hinting that as the daughter given birth by the concubine of the prime minister, Bai Suxue had regarded herself as the daughter of the official wife.
People looked at Bai Aoxue and then Bai Suxue, thinking that Bai Aoxue was right.
As the daughter given birth by the official wife of the prime minister, Bai Aoxue had no other maidservants except Mumian. But Bai Suxue, given birth by the concubine, was surrounded by a mult.i.tude of maidservants.
Looking at Bai Suxue’s face which changed color from time to time, Bai Aoxue feigned a puzzled expression. She said: “Why do you look so pale, my sister? Am I wrong? I think she is only a lowly maidservant and you won’t get angry. It turns out I’m wrong. Is it true that I have to know who is the master before beating her dog? But it’s really a crazy dog.”
“You are right, my sister. It’s indeed necessary to have Lvwu disciplined. I’m indebted to you this time. Since you have just recuperated from an illness, please have more rest. I’ll leave at first and I’ll come to see you in several days.” Putting on a false smile, Bai Suxue said to her sister. Her mouth was speaking good words but her eyes had cut her sister to pieces.
Ignoring Bai Suxue’s eyesight, Bai Aoxue picked up the topic. She said: “Ah, hearing you say this, I really have a headache now. Did I b.u.mp into something after falling into the pond somehow? It is really strange these days. I should have fallen into the pond somehow or other. But it let me figure out many things. So it may be a good thing to fall into the pond.”
What Bai Aoxue said almost drove Bai Suxue to an internal wound out of anger. Contrary to the arrogant air when she came, Bai Suxue, accompanied by the entourage, quickly went out of Bai Aoxue’s courtyard resentfully and frustratedly.
Seeing her furious expression, Bai Aoxue murmured: “Humph. The best is yet to come. You want to look for help from Bai Qiwei, don’t you? Let’s see who is craftier, Bai Qiwei or I.”
Paying no attention to Mumian who was dumfounded all the time, Bai Aoxue sat slowly on a stone stool in the courtyard. She said: “Awake, Mumian! Get me some tea, please.”
Mumian recovered herself. She looked in admiration at Bai Aoxue and went quickly to make tea.
As expected by Bai Aoxue, Bai Suxue went to seek help from Bai Qiwei, the prime minister.
