Eternity Foxx: The Rise To Eternal Knowledge 10 Ch 10: Finding My Name

I had gathered all the items I thought I needed. I didn't take the item Mikhail dropped from the wall with me to hunt. I didn't really need it most fights.

I do think I will need it to find one of the caravans. I don't know what I will run into when I'm hunting for them.

There could be a war going on when I get to a battlefield. There could be bigger Devils out there as well. I once heard of large beings that aren't Devils, or Demonics. They are hard to hunt, but are very valuable.

Don't know how strong they are. I never had to fight one, and I haven't even seen them.

If I can learn from the caravans. I can possibly find myself a name. I knew words mean things, but names are kind of different then words. They are words, but they don't sound like the ones we use to talk.

The King gave him his name. So does that mean someone else should give me mine? Should The King give me my name?

No, I want to pick my own name. One that makes me feel good when I hear it. "Mikhail The Archangel," sounds good when you say it. I want a name like that.

I grabbed my bag while I was in my area. I hide everything in there because of its size. If it's not an Angelic item, or a tribal item. No one can sense anything from it.

It doesn't have a glow to it like the other Angelic items I have. So I'm not worried about leaving it in my area when I'm not there.

I'm going to have to go deeper in this hole at some point. It's completely dark further down, but I'm able to use my own light. Speaking of that, I'm also able to control how much light I give off.

I should say that my wings give off. When they got big enough for me to jump nearly as high as the wall. They started to glow by themselves.

If I focus on myself, and restrict their movements. I can keep it down so no Devils spot me, and think I'm an Angel. That sometimes has its usefulness though.

Now that I look more like the Angels, but still have a smell like a Devil. They treat me better, and the Devils don't attack as much. I figured they don't know what I am either.

Time to head out, and find a caravan. I can't rest too often, or I may miss them. I have to stay moving as long as I can. I found some more Devils clothing when I was scavenging. That should help me stay hidden if I need to go around anyone.

I left my area, and set out on the hunt. Surprisingly it wasn't too long before I found one. I wasn't sure at first, but when I got close enough. I could see they had light coming from them.

I knew they had to be from beyond the wall. Should I approach them with caution though? I never had the ability to speak with them. I brought all kind of things with me for a long trip. If they want to trade I should have something in the bag that will do.

Before I could get really close to the caravan. The one that was sitting down turn to look at me.

"You must be prince Mikhail's new friend. He told me you might show up on one of our trips around the wall."

He was smiling at me when he spoke.

"Come sit with me for a bit."

I guess I should since Mikhail told him about me. I can't get my mind on that guy at all. He seems like an a.s.shole, but I know he is trying to help.

"What would you like to know young one?" In such a calming voice.

Some of these Angels are more easy to speak with then the others. I don't think he is The King, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was.

Where do I start? Do I ask about The King? Do I ask about Mikhail, or something else? Oh, I know what to ask!

"What is your name, and did The King give it to you?'

If I'm going to figure out a name for myself. I should start learning more names so I get how they work.

"Yes, The King did give me my name, but it is not important to you. At least not yet."

I feel like he was speaking down to me some how. He just felt so calming that it didn't matter. For some reason i feel like he was more understanding then Mikhail.

"Did you find a name for yourself yet? The prince told me you didn't know what they were."

I bet Mikhail is going around laughing at me. Telling everyone how much I ask questions, and how much I don't know.

"No, I have yet to find one. The tribesmen call me all kind of things. I dont really like them too much."

He started to laugh at me, which gets to me. If he is going to be like Mikhail when we meet. I should find another caravan.

"Don't worry about that one. The King has many names as well, and they aren't all good names."

The King has a lot of names too?! So that's why he was laughing. Maybe he isn't that bad after all.

"Having a name is not that important unless you want to be remembered. If you do, then you need to make your name known."

"When people know your name, they will remember you. What they remember you for is called "making a name for yourself."

So if I want to be remembered I need to find a name, and do things that signify that name.

"Hm, I see you are learning to have righteousness as well. You are an incredibly talented outsider."

No, he is an a.s.shole too. They keep calling me an "outsider," and looking down on me. I don't like that about the Angels.

"No need to look so angered with me. We have the caravans to teach the outsiders new things."

"We believe that some of you can be taught."

He actually likes the ones that are outside the wall? Ok, I'm interested in this guy too now.

"What do you teach in the caravan?"

If it's not useful, I can just ask my questions, and leave. No reason to waste time learning thing that aren't useful.

"We teach The Kings word. It is his philosophical belief, and it guides all things."

"It is in all of us, but we need to learn it to be able to use it. I'm sure you are starting to learn things on your own now."

He was right, I really did learn a lot since I started dealing with them. Righteousness must be a part of The King's word.

"When you grow righteousness, you are practicing His word. There is more to it, but that is a good way to start."

"From time to time, those of us in the caravans have to fight was well. That's why there are so many of us."

These guys can fight? I don't get any feeling from them at all. How harmful can they be?

"You should have some Angel with you that are prepared for battle. I do not see any weapons in your party."

He shook his head, and put up his hand.

"We do not need weapons to fight the Devils. The Kings word is a very powerful weapon by itself."

"Even if that can not shield us from them. We are well equipped with hand to hand combat abilities."

They don't need weapons, and The Kings word is a weapon?

"How can you use words as a weapon? Also what are hand to hand combat abilities?"

I was very confused about these things at first. Then he began to explain.

"Words are used as weapons in many ways. We use them to protect us from darkness. When you harness The King's word, and focus on safety. It can create a border between you, and the Devils."

"Hand to hand combat abilities are skills that we learn to fight without weapons. Hand to hand means using your own body against each other. "

"One should know how to use their own body as much as their weapons. If not more."

I kind of already knew that last part, but I don't think I know it they way he means.

"Who teaches you how to use these abilities?"

Maybe I can learn some of them myself if i find the teacher. Then again the teacher is probably beyond the wall.

"There are different teachers that all teach different ways. They have developed their ability over time, and have been honored by The King."

"This allows them to teach their ways inside the kingdom."

That must be what they call the inside of the wall, "The kingdom." The throne room must be The Kings area with in the kingdom.

Out of no where came a small being from the side of the thing we were sitting on. Then a few more of them showed up, and all of them were looking up at us.

"What are these beings on the side here? Do they all have names as well?"

I'm not sure how names work, but I don't think everyone has one. He said you only need one if you want to be remembered. So if you dont want to, then you don't need a name.

"They are Fox spirits, and they don't have name individually. They do have a name as a group. Not all things need individual names."

I was right, but "individual names?" Also "group names" are given to a type of being. So then tribesmen is a type of name as well. I think I'm learning this pretty well.

"Are "individual names" things that we all have that can only belong to us?" I had to ask.

He shook his head again, and answered me.

"That's hard to answer. You can have an individual name that belongs to you alone. You can also share that name with another, and will need to add something to it."

So if I share a name with someone I have to had to it. I guess that's why he said you need to make a name for yourself. Like Mikhail is "Prince Mikhail the Archangel."

That means either there are more Mikhail's out there, or he has made his name known as an Archangel.

"Why do you call the small ones "Fox spirits?""

I have to know more about names.

"Fox means "cunning and swift," and spirits are things that existed in the material realm."

"They leave that place to come here. When this happens they become "spirits.""

So the material realm is where all those in the lake come from. They really arent that smart though.

"They are very smart, and quick learners. They can apply all kind of abilities as soon as they are needed."

"They warn us when Devils are close. They have come by our side to tell us there is one close by. This is about half of the ones we have with us. So the Devil is close, but not harmful yet."

"They are also fast, and good fighters. They are small, so they use logic to defeat their opponents."

They sound like me, but they already use the name "Fox." Is it ok for me to take that name?

"Why do people want to be remembered? Is it because they fade away if they lose a fight too bad?"

I wonder if the name you make fades away with you.

"They want to be remembered so people can trust them. Some want to be feared, and others respected. Names can become eternal, and they will remain remembered."

Names can become "eternal?!" What is that, and how does it work?

"I don't know what eternal is, or how it works. Could you teach me of this as well?"

He is definitely more understanding then Mikhail is. It's easy to get answers from him.

"I'm not surprised that you do not know it. It means "to last forever," and forever is an "eternity." That means something that will never fade even if you do."

"If you want to be remembered for all of "eternity." Then you need to make a name for yourself."

If I make a name for myself I can be remembered even if I fade away. Does that mean when I come back everyone will still know who I am?

This is a bit confusing right now. I think I should ask another question. Wait, I think I know what I want to be called!

"That's an interesting look you have young one. Did you figure something out just now?"

I dont know how I looked to him, but I feel like I have a name they can't forget. It has my ability, and my wants in it.

"Yes I did, and I think it's a good one to be remembered by."

I must have looked amusing to him, because he started laughing at me.

"What is it that will be so good might I ask?" He said while still laughing at me.

"My name that's what! I will be called "Eternity Foxx!" It means "always cunning and swift!""

Yeah, that's a d.a.m.n good name to be known by. Then again he seems to be laughing even harder. What the f.u.c.k is up with them, and laughing at me?!

"I guess for one to be choosing his own name. That one is a good start, but you might want a new one later."

How could he speak while laughing that hard? He is easier to deal with, but has that d.a.m.n ability to p.i.s.s me off when helping.
