In total, Herma brought me ten books. Five about the G.o.ddess of Death, and then four are the G.o.ddess of War, and there was only one about the G.o.d of Life. I couldn't understand why there was only one book about him in this entire d.a.m.n library.
There was no way to hide the disappointment at the fact that there wasn't that much information about him. He indeed was starting to shape up to be one of those enigmatic characters. He was surely more than he seemed to be, than our brief interaction had led me to believe. Even though it was short, it had left a deep impression of him. It was safe to say that… I was intrigued by him.
The fact that information about him was spare didn't help to curb my intrigue in the least. Instead it only serves to stoke the fires of my curiosity.
The tib bit of information that I did know about him was that he's the creator of the mermaids. However, there wasn't that much information about them either, very few knew of the merfolk. Even more so few of them bothered to travel the world and interact with the other races.
They generally never left the sunk world, their ancestral birthplace. Of course, a few had ventured in search of the mermaids and their kingdom. But they'd all been met with bared pa.s.sage into the homeland of the mermaids.
Most of the knowledge known about them came from the few mermaids that traveled the world. However, most of them died, in the end. Either because of the other races trapping them, or they died in the dungeon.
Most merfolk didn't really have any combative knowledge or skills, most of their skills were adept at healing. They're naturally born with skills that are geared towards healing. They're considered a middling race, due to the fact that they're p.i.s.s poor at combat, nonetheless.
"Hmm," I hum to myself.
It was too bad that the race that he created was so socially isolated. But then again… their creator was a strange one, so, maybe just like him. Looking at it from that perspective it wasn't odd that they were isolated, they're just strange to the bone like him.
Twisting a tendril of hair between my finger, I keep thumbing through his book. But there really wasn't much else, the only other thing that pops out at me in the book, was the fact that he had a hand in creating every other's race creations. With the exception of the Vampires.
Since, he was the G.o.d of Life he breathed sparks of life into all of the creatures that we're constructed by the other G.o.ds. The only G.o.d that choose to not accept his was the G.o.ddess of Death.
Instead, she imbued her kin with a never-ending life; life eternal.
Reaching for another book, I pick up about the G.o.ddess of War, Lotasia. I quickly begin to thumb through her book. But the first book didn't have anything important in it that stood out. The next book that was waiting on the table for me, was covered in red leathered and in golden letters it read 'Stories of the War G.o.ddess.'
That had to have some information about her. She was defiantly a G.o.ddess that would have her fair share of stories. Quickly paging through the book, I found a section that had mention of a t.i.tle that I had gotten from her. The t.i.tle 'Trainee War Empress'.
The mention of the t.i.tle was a subheading, at the bottom of the page underneath of a pa.s.sage headed 'Might of the War Empress.' The storie goes…
A couple thousand of years ago, there had been a human female that had been awarded my starting t.i.tle 'Trainee War Empress.' She then went onto conquer dungeon tower, after dungeon tower on her grand quest.
Through her many accomplishment her t.i.tle had been changed to 'War Empress,' having obtained the completed t.i.tle she was hailed as one of the greatest Empresses of the human race. She retired from conquer dungeons, for she had gotten older as humans do. In her retirement she took up rulership over the human race for a small time, before her short life came to an end.
The human race was considered a lower race, because they were born weaker than most other races, and they had a finite lifespan. It was safe to compare them to humans from my old world, weak and petty.
Although, pettiness might just be a feature of any race that hold some sentience.
But in the end seeing that her people were weak and dying in drove. The G.o.ddess of War, Lotasia, constructed a plan to increase the strength of her creations. She created into existence the first of the berserkers, humans that minds have been completed eroded, and were then granted strength tenfold that of their normal strength.
With this added feature, her race began to prosper and started to sp.a.w.n and conquer. She also granted them something else, the blessing that all of the human race had 「Fearless War Ban」. Allowing them all to use a skill called 「Limit Break」, this skill that they innately born with. It's very similar to my skill she'd granted me 'War Might.'
Except unlike my skill that allowed me to break ten level with the rebound effect of leveling up cost double the normal amount of experience. They could instead sacrifice HP, it would suck up 100 Health points, you'd be able to limit break five levels. If you wanted to limit break again the cost would be double, and if you wanted a third time it'd be triple. So, on and so.
But you still would surfer a rebound effect, a debuff would be applied you'd become immobile once the limit of the skill was up. The time limit was one hour, a full hour less than mine. However, they didn't get penalized with half HP lost like I did.
Most died because of the rebound effect.
Biting my lip, I couldn't help but droll at this skill a little bit. Although, the skill that I had gotten was decent, it didn't mention anything about me being able to use it back to back, and either way I couldn't.
Growling, I realized that the innate skill of the race was better, but it was still costly to them considered they don't have as much HP as I do.
Everything in this world was a give and take.
"What a fickle G.o.ddess that enjoys nothing but violence and bloodshed above all else," I growl as I shut the book.
Rubbing my eyes, I realized that this War G.o.ddess was one that would probably be a headache for me.
"Miss do you have any questions?" Herma asks.
Tapping my fingers on the desk, I glare at the remaining books.
"Why is there little information about the G.o.d of Life?"
"He's simply the G.o.d of Life, as a race that directly oppose the source of his divinity, I can understand the curiosity. However, he's a G.o.d that most don't like to talk about, his presence isn't strong at general face value. Yet, if you remember in the book, he's the one that gifted each G.o.d or G.o.ddess, the ability to breathe life into their creations. Except for our G.o.ddess Muheia.
It's been said that the G.o.d of Life likes to play tricks on the other G.o.ds. That he's a bit of a troublemaker. As to the reason that we don't have a lot information on him is the fact that a lot isn't actually known about him," she says with a slight dip of her head.
That air head was a troublemaker?!
I wanted to snort out loud, but the serious look on Herma's face stops me in my tracks. But then I remember that the Muheia had mentioned something about the G.o.d of Life playing a trick on her.
Was it possible that he indeed was a troublemaker?
Just what did he have in store for me? He was the only G.o.d that I had met when I'd been transferred here… but I was born into the Vampire race, belonging directly to Muheia.
Why hadn't I seen her then…
