After dragging him away from our families, we'd arrived out on a balcony that leads out into one of the many gardens that are in my house. Taking a deep breath, I turn and look at the little elf child.

His face was beet red, and his eyes look like they're slightly spinning in their sockets. I quickly release his hand and take a step towards him.

"Are you okay?" I ask him, getting closer to him. I reach out to place my hand on his forehead, but he takes a step back and my hand falls short.

"It's inappropriate to do that," he sputters out with a great deal of effort.

"What did I do that's inappropriate?"

"A lady shouldn't grab another's hand if they're not to be engaged!" He half yelps out.

I cover my mouth with my hand, he had to be joking! I felt my stomach twist int knots, what in the world he was a prude. But I choke back my laughter and smooth a hand over my dress.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know that it's inappropriate for an elf to hold hands with someone else before being engaged," I say trying my best to act innocent and not let him know that I was laughing at him.

His face was drawn into a pout, and I want to pat his head. He looked like a child that had just been told that their favorite cartoon hero wasn't real.

"It's not an elf custom, it's just something that my mother told me, that you shouldn't hold hand with someone that you don't like," he spoke softly.

Leaning against the balcony, I look at the beautiful child in front of me. He was such a mama's boy, wasn't he?

It couldn't hurt to mess with him a little bit could it?

"Does that mean you don't like me?" I ask him innocently.

He jerks his head up and gives me a once over. Before, he lowers his head slightly and gives a quick and curt nod of his head.

"It's not that I don't like you, it's just that you surprised me, that's all," he says with a firm nod of his head.

I smile slightly, he wasn't a bad kid. He's probably a lot like me, his parents are amba.s.sadors and he probably doesn't have any friends either. That meant that he was most likely in the same boat as me.

He seems nice enough, I wouldn't mind for us to become friends. I hadn't made any friends since being in this world that are the same age as me, well, same age physical. Maybe not so much mentally.

Either way, he didn't seem like a bad person, and it already seems that our parents are on good terms with each other.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to surprise you, I just got a little excited to meet someone my age," I tell him with a wide smile.

He lifts his head up and makes eye contact with me and shuffles forward slightly.

"It's also my fault, I don't get to meet others my age, as well," he tells me now standing closer in front of me.

"It looks like we're both at fault."

"It does."

We both look at each other before we start to giggle to ourselves. This was the first time that I'd gotten to talk to someone like this… it was really comfortable.

After the laughter dies down, I push myself off the balcony edge and give a small bow.

"Hollis Grey Astley, at your services," I tell him.

He straightens his back as well and gives a small bow back.

"Pleasure, Silvyr Elkas at your disposal," he responds back. "Should I call you… Young Miss?" He asks me.

"No, I'd prefer that we call each other by our names! Isn't that what friends do?" I ask him, with a wide grin.

His face also breaks out into a wide smile. "I'd like that… Hollis."

"Great! I'll call you Silvyr then," I tell him grabbing his hand. This time he doesn't freak out and grasp my hand as well.

"Umm…h.e.l.lo?" A quiet voice sounds from behind Silvyr. Letting go of his hand, I lean and look behind him and see a pet.i.te little girl standing in the doorway that lead to the ballroom that we'd just left.

She was very small; she steps forward a little more. She's dressed in a simple top that had a lot of jewelry dangling from it. It's a deep blue and her pants are the same, with a bunch of jewelry hanging from it.

She's got warm almond brown colored skin and on her skin was a beautiful inscribed tattoo, that stretches from her hands to over my shoulder ending at the bottom of her stomach. Her eyes are a bright golden brown and quite huge like a doll. Her hair is braided down her back.

"Hi," I say with a wide smile.

She was just too cute, I step around Silvyr and move closer to the other child that's there now. A small smile starts on her lip.

"You're a nomad, aren't you?" I can't help but say as I draw near her.

A surprise look flashes over her face. "How'd you know?" She asks me with curious eyes.

"I haven't had any friends my age since, a couple of seconds ago, so. Most of my time was spent in the library with teachers and I've read a couple of books about the nomadic humans that travel the world," I tell her.

The humans that had been outcasted by the other humans for their love of the other races are considered the first nomads. Their descendants have become the nomadic tribe that this girl belongs to.

They'd grown into a larger tribe of people, most of the time mixing with other races and giving birth to offspring, but some of the nomads are still pure humans.

From the tattoo on this girl's arms and over her shoulder it suggested that her family's one of the old families. They began tattooing children early with the history of the family. They'd slowly add more tattoos as they aged and for more specific events. It was basically a life map, printed on the flesh.

I wonder if she was pure human, I didn't see any indication that she was a mixed breed.

"Most don't know anything about the nomadic tribes," she says with a bright twinkle in her eyes. She reaches her hand out and grasps hold of my hand. I'm a little shocked she was super shy not even two seconds ago.

"Will you be my friend?!" She asks me.

"Of C-"

"What the h.e.l.l is a filthy human doing here?" A loud voice says, and more children began to walk through the door.

There are three boys and a girl that walks through the door. They're all vampires it seems, I could smell it. Plus, they're dressed like vampire children, in blacks and dark colors, with all sorts of gothic jewelry on them.

"Who do you think you are touching the daughter of the governess in a personal manner?" The boy at the front of the pack of vampires ask.

He's a big fellow, he doesn't look like he's my age, but I knew that he was five. I remember him vaguely from my memories this morning at the temple.

His blonde hair was slicked back like some bad vampire movie from my old world, and he was dressed in a simple black and red suit. I could see his fangs peeking out from underneath his lip.

"I-I didn't know," the small nomadic girls whisper out as she drops my hand. She hastily takes a couple of steps back from me and ducks her head, her braid swaying slightly.

"Idiot human, don't you know that your race is a disgrace filled with only war-loving mongers that want to kill the other races. We should kill you now, so you don't have the chance to breed and kill more of us," he snarls his teeth enlarging and his eyes glowing a vibrant red.

This little s.h.i.t!

The poor girl cowers even more. Just what should I do in this situation, I wanted nothing more than to pummel some common sense into his head.

"Kieran teaches her a lesson for touching one of us," a boy with dark black hair and a sickly parlor even for vampires' comments. He stood just behind, Kieran, the big oaf I wanted to slap.

"Discrimination against another race is for those without common decency," Silyvr comments.

I'd almost forgotten that he was here, he stood beside me and had a dark look in his face. Oh, it looks like he indeed was a good boy.

"Keep your nose out of it Elf, if you know what's good for you," Kieran snarled.

Who was this boy's parents?! Didn't they teach him manners when he was at a party?

I felt my annoyance bubbling over, this was my party and this girl was my guest and he was planned to insult my guest in front of me. Due to some misguided idea that 'we' as vampires are better than others.

With no plans of stopping, Kieran began to move towards the cowering girl. A violent aura surrounding him.

Sliding my coat off, I take it and hand it to Sliyvr.

"Hollis?" He questions.

My body moves on its own before the dumba.s.s can even touch her. I grab him by the shoulder and turn him. His face is a mixture of shock and confusion. Without even wasting a moment, I ball my fist and throw it straight into his face.

"BOOM!"

The sound of a miniature bomb going off echo's as his body is thrown backward and straight into the wall and his body breaks through the wall and he's flung into the ballroom.

Without even breaking stride, I follow after him. The noise of the party has died down, and the area around the boy has been cleared. He's sitting up with the help of a woman that looks to be his mom.

Blood's running out of nose, and the dust from breaking through the wall is covering his body. But even though, I sent him flying through the wall, an unbearable blood l.u.s.t seems to be coursing through my body.

"W-why'd you h-hit me?" He stutters out, I think his jaw's broken.

Throwing my hair over my shoulder, I fix him with my eyes.

"Because you're disrespecting my guest right in front of me! How can a host sit by and watch others being bullied at HER party?" I growl at him.
