I Will Survive Chapter 10: Rose Gomez

The time came when she had to choose a stream and pursue her career. Lara was determined that she wanted to study biology and become a gynecologist. She was very satisfied with her decision and had many things planned out too.

Oliver's decision was fixed. He wanted to study business, get his degree in MBA then intern for some time in his own company and learn everything about it thoroughly before stepping up as a CEO and taking all responsibilities of the company. He grew up watching his grandfather and father work very hard for this company to get where it is right now and was very inspired by their work.

He thought that it was his duty to carry on their company's name to more achievements. He wanted to make his family name more famous. It was not that he felt that it was only his duty to take over the company or that he owe at least that much to his family. Studying about business and economics was his kind of pa.s.sion aside from football.

He loved all that business tactics and was himself very skilled in convincing people and making his point superior. He got a feeling of victory whenever he was able to help his father and grandfather with anything. He found himself curious whenever it came to cracking a deal which was impossible and to finding out the faults in some projects which others were not able to. He considered his father and grandfather his biggest idols and learned a lot from them.

On the other hand, Lara despised all these cunning business games. She never believed in 'Life is a marathon and you have to run fast to win it'. She thought that life was there to enjoy, to explore, to follow pa.s.sion and thought that running blindly in race because everyone is running is idiotic. She believed that blindly following the crowd is of a coward's job, she believed in her own path. Hence she built her own bridge of dreams from scratch. But...

Lara went to her father to discuss her goals and to tell him what she plans to do in her future and why. She believed that her father will support her no matter what after hearing her reason as to why she wanted to be a gynecologist. She saw her father reading newspaper while having his morning coffee in dining room. She went to sit on her chair and greeted him with her best possible smile "Good morning, dad". Lucas looked up from his newspaper and glanced at Lara. He saw her wide smile and then greeted back with a small smile "morning".

Lara was nervous this time. She didn't know why she was nervous in front of her father. Maybe it was because she didn't actually talk about her school and education related stuff to him before. It was all taken care by her aunt and Lucas's sister, Rose Gomez. She is a sweet lady and loved her dearly. She loved her like her own daughter.

She was with her when her father was trying hard to stabilize his new success and when he didn't had much time for Lara. Rose never married. She did believe in marriages, to her marriages were utter bulls.h.i.t and nothing but just a name to a relationship in which love dies gradually and you cannot wait to be away from your partner at some point of life. But she had a very colorful life: plenty of boyfriends and... girlfriends, late night parties and tons of friends from every corner of world.

Lara's Grandparents didn't like her because of her bis.e.xual nature. They think of her as their biggest mistake and don't want to stay in contact with her but Lucas loved her sister and henceforth gave her a separate house to live and he also supports her living expenses. He didn't despised her sister's love choices. He just thought that everyone cannot be same and just said matter of factly that she just have more varieties to choose from. Lara also learned from her father that there is nothing wrong with her aunt unlike how her grandparents thought of her.

Rose was also Oliver's favorite from Gomez family because they both liked to party and enjoy their lives carelessly.

Lara started after a cough "Dad, actually there's something I want to discuss with you."

Lucas stared at her and and said "Hmm?" She did not say anything even after an affirmative answer from her father to continue. She heard it loud and clear but was unsure of how to start the conversation. Lucas thought that she didn't hear properly so he said it out loudly than before "What is it?"

After a pause of minute Lara started "Uhhh... actually I wanted to discuss with you about my future goals and want to discuss with you that I want to take..." She stretched her sentence under her father's glare.
