Had that really just happened? There was no way! Shock and disbelief were clearly etched up on their features as they looked at one and another and then at their two comrades in confusion.
Hunter had laughed!!!
Cage was trying to make sense of it all as he mentally relieved the last 5 minutes trying to ascertain if he was losing his mind. He had been Hunter's second for as long as he could remember. The two boys had grown up together. They had founded the gang together. He had seen Hunter at some of his scariest moments!
Once, someone had dared to try to walk away while Hunter was still speaking. Hunter had busted his knee caps. Another time some one had dared to question one of his orders. Hunter had cut out his tongue.
No body talked to Hunter like that.
Yet this kid had just done so and gotten away with it.
Cage could only turn his eyes to boss, a brow lifted in confusion. 'Umm..Boss ..are you okay?' His eyes seemed to be asking. How did this happen. His sanity demanded to know!!
Charlie on the other hand was standing utterly still, his fingers curling and uncurling into fists as he glared daggers at his friend. His eyes glaring daggers with an expression that clearly state 'Are. You. Trying. To. Get. Us. Killed!?!?' Not that it mattered. If Hunter didn't kill them Charlie was certain that he was going to have a heart attack.
Luke reached a hand to scratch at the back of his neck, digging his toes into the dirt. He yawned. Then turning on his heel made to leave. Clearly there was nothing entertaining here.
He was immediately stopped when a very solid ma.s.s of jean and leather stood to block his path. Arms crossed over his chest as he looked at the younger kid Hunter narrowed his eyes.
"I let it go once. You think I will again?"
Luke was glaring at Hunter's hand at this point which seemed to be grabbing at the shoulder of his jacket. His eyes glanced between the hand and the offender before narrowing.
"Look. You brought us here. I am not dead. You clearly have no intention to fight me. Why. Am. I. Here." Luke ground out through his teeth as though to employ the boss was wasting his time. Both Cage and Charlie were looking on at this point, with each pa.s.sing moment they were turning whiter and whiter. If they weren't dead before, surely they would be now.
Cage glared at the punk who dated to disrespect his brother before he pushed Charlie out of the way preparing to educate this kid on hierarchy of the gang when the stone cold voice of his boss brought him back to reality.
"Stop!" came the command from an equally amused and equally angry Hunter. The look he gave Cage clearly intending to keep him rooted in his spot before he turned his attention back to the kid in front him. His eyes on the kid he spoke to Charlie.
"Your dog, does it always bark this much?" [1] He inquired.
Charlie could only sigh at this point as he muttered. "Unfortunately" was all he said, his eyes looking to the two men and then back to Cage who stood blocking his way to his friend.
"So kid. You wanna play with the big boys do you?" Hunter challenged, shrugging off his coat prepared to teach this kid a lesson.
Entertainment only won you so many points in this gang.
