Chapter 12.1

“Love sick!!?”

Amused by Rong Fei Lin’s confession, Mu Tian’s eyes flashed mirth. As unbelievable as it was, Mu Tian was still interested in knowing what had caused his little brother-in-law to be infected by such sickness.

Mischievously, he smirked, “Who has such an extraordinary skill.. to have our family’s Rong Fei Lin romancing and heartbroken in such a short while??… This certainly is a new development.”

Rong Fei Lin smiled, dejectedly, upon hearing his brother-in-laws teasing tone. He walked towards special a.s.sistant Xiaofeng who had just entered his boss’s office.

Patting Xiaofeng shoulders proudly, Rong Fei Lin asked feigning sincerity, “Brother Yang, how have you stayed so dedicated to my brother-in-law all these years.. huh? Tell me, I won’t judge”

Responding with a stiff smile, Xiaofeng quickly left the office, leaving his boss and his guest to continue their chat privately.

Feeling rather unusual, Rong Fei Lin strode towards the chair facing Mu Tian, and plopped on it. Leaning his body over the armrest, he casually rubbed his lower lip with his lean, st.u.r.dy fingers, as he narrowed his eyes to closely observing Mu Tian.

After what seemed like an eternity, he finally opened his mouth. “Brother-in-law, I feel you’ve changed. Something’s, definitely, different.”

“Oh really! What’s different?”, Mu Tian smiled knowingly, leaning back on his chair.

Donning a serious look, Rong Fei Lin answered sincerely, “Brother-in-law, it looks like you’re in love. Tell me, am I correct?”

“Love!”, Mu Tian chuckled lightly, amused by his brother-in-laws thoughts.

He stood up to leave, and hung his coat on his arm. Looking at Rong Fei, he jested, “Love is meant for young people like you, Rong Fei Lin. Your brother-in-law’s too old for this. Come, let’s go.”

“But, Brother-in-law, believe me, love can happen anytime, regardless of one’s age.”

Being ignored by his brother-in-law, Rong Fei Lin shook his head disapprovingly, and followed Mu Tian out.

At an upscale hotel bar, Rong Fei Lin lightly swirled the whiskey gla.s.s in his hand, as small glistening rocks of ice clinked inside the crystal gla.s.s. The *clink**clink* sound slightly soothed Fei Lin’s ailing heart.

A little while later, Rong Fei Lin felt amused by the scene that unveiled itself before his clever eyes. Sitting next to his to very handsome brother-in-law at the bar, Rong Fei could clearly see a gorgeous woman, standing a few metres away, trying to approach Mu Tian.

The beauty had exquisite features, a slender figure, and soft curls that bounced on her delicate creamy shoulders. In her tight blue dress, her robust chest, tiny waist, and sumptuous bottom, were accentuated. Undoubtedly, the woman looked stunning, with a hint of ecstatic charm and mischief.

Unfortunately, the beauty didn’t give Rong Fei Lin a second look and solely focused her attention on Mu Tian.

However, this wasn’t unexpected in Rong Fei’s experience because whenever they went out for a drink or dinner together, all eyes were fixed on their ‘big G.o.d Xi’. So, with time, Rong Fei Lin understood that being next to Mu Tian, he didn’t have a chance to get noticed.

Mu Tian, Rong Fei Lin looked pitifully at the gorgeous woman standing behind his brother-in-law. He genuinely couldn’t understand why the beautiful girl, who could seriously do much better, was interested in melting an iceberg, like Mu Tian!!?

Frowning at the unrelenting girl, Mu Tian shed his calm, elegant demeanour. He rebuked impatiently, “I’m not interested and I have company, so please don’t bother.”

Embarra.s.sed by his reprimanding tone, the beauty left hurriedly.

Rong Fei Lin, observing Mu Tian’s reluctance, mockingly advised, “Brother-in-law, a man who waits to long, has a higher risk of impotency.”

Amused, Mu Tian shook his head. “I would rather be curt, than pursue a woman carelessly. Your brother-in-law isn’t a beast, and luckily, I’ve recently married.”

What!! Rong Fei Lin dropped his gla.s.s in pure shock.

Recovering himself, he chided, “Brother-in-law, stop playing me around. You can’t be married……… Right!??”

Naturally, it wasn’t easy for Rong Fei Lin to wrap his head around this piece of information. Even if, it was one hundred percent true. When his elder sister had pa.s.sed away, he and Rong father had been sure that Mu Tian would quickly remarry. But, even after 10 years had past since Fei Luan’s death, Mu tian continued to stay a widower. 

Moreover, if Mu Tian seriously got married, why had he kept the news hidden from the world.

Thinking for a while, Rong Fei Lin felt that either Mu Tian had married again for profit, or he cared too much about his wife that he wanted to maintain her privacy from the media. But, whatever was the reason behind Mu Tian’s silence, Fei Lin, being Mu Tian’s only brother-in-law, needed to uncover it.

Turning on his gossip mode, Rong Fei Lin asked curiously, “Brother-in-law, your wife, is she a fine corporate heiress, or a dignified daughter of a political elite?”

“Fine and dignified?” Mu Tian couldn’t help but chuckle a little.

His adorable little kitten, who had occupied his thoughts since he left his office, was neither from any elite family, nor was she sophisticated and dignified. Thus, feeling ridiculous, he smiled, “She’s only an immature little girl. I think you know her too, she’s Xi Jin.. Xia Xi Jin.”

Hearing her name, Rong Fei Lin’s smile suddenly stiffened. He could hardly control his rising emotions.

Even in a million years, Fei Lin would have never imagined that Xi Jin and Mu Tian could possibly be in a relationship. Their social backgrounds, personalities, living conditions, everything from top to bottom was worlds apart. Moreover, recalling that Xi Jin was a simple-sloppy little girl, how could a cleanliness freak, like Mu Tian, like her???

Seeing Rong Fei Lin ridiculous smile vanish, Mu Tian, superficially, tried to lighten the mood. Changing the topic, he asked, “Anyway, when are you planning to rejoin Rong’s? Maybe, you can work at the headquarters for a bit, and then go to the film and media branch, if you want more excitement.”

Unhindered by Mu Tian’s tone and question, Rong Fei Lin brazenly asked, “Do you love her? Do you love Xi Jin?”

“Even if I don’t love her, she’s still my wife. What’s the difference?” Mu Tian retorted with a dark expression.

Rong Fei Lin in his anger, stood up and grabbed Mu Tian’s collar. He shook him, and gritted his teeth in rage, “If you do not love her, just stay away from her. She isn’t like the other women you’ve played around with… Don’t you dare think of playing her around, you know, she’s just a naive little idiot…”

Narrowing his eyes, Mu Tian stared at his ‘darling’ brother-in-law. Shoving Fei Lin’s hands of his collar, he snidely remarked, “Fei Lin, your concern for her seems a bit over-the-top. I hope you remember, she’s ‘my’ wife.”

Hearing the words, Fei Lin felt ridiculously funny and shook his head.

Stepping away from him, Fei Lin laughed coldly, “Your wife! Haa!…. didn’t you also make my elder sister your wife?.. Locking her everyday in your cold empty mansion… Even, when she was on her death bed, you didn’t leave your business meeting in France. President Xi Mu Tian, let me make it clear to you, marriage isn’t everything…”
