Chapter 1.2 – The City of Sin
The crow soar high in the sky, flying toward the misty forest in the distance. According to the plot, the protagonist was currently attempting to earn advancement in his combat level by battling.
It wasn't long before the man who appeared in the mirror of the demon king was seen fighting with a bear in a clearing. That man, the protagonist, did not back off no matter how feral and big the bear was.
Deciding to enjoy the show for a while, the crow flew to a tree not far away, settled and didn't rush to make a move. At this time, the protagonist's attention was solely focused on the opposing bear. If he suddenly attacked, he might kill the protagonist by mistake.
Watching the battle and a.n.a.lyzing the hero's battle mode, the crow man thought in his heart how to lose to the hero beautifully. The protagonist was completely bare-handed, only relying on faint magic as he dealt with the bear. He was full of scratches and wounds and he was obviously having a difficult time delivering his attacks without hurting himself. The crow man could tell that the bear was no typical animal, it was large for its size, giant even. Some magic must have been infused to it.
"But don't worry, you'll be in possession of the weapon I hold not long from now." the crow muttered as his eyes followed the protagonist's movements.
The fight commenced and with a roar, the magic bear finally fell to the ground writhing and breathed his last breath.
This was the right time to make himself known! At this time, the protagonist just won, therefore, this is the moment where the crow man should attack him. It is the best chance to deliver a sneak attack but making sure that the inflicted damage to the protagonist would not be serious.
Therefore, the crow man swooped down from his concealment, towards the protagonist. He was still in mid-air when he took his human form, holding the soul-eating dagger and cutting it towards the protagonist's direction. In order to warn the protagonist, the crow shouted a loud cry before delivering his attack. Sure enough, the protagonist was alerted at the last moment and jumped aside just in time the blade slashed the air which was millimeters away from his cheek!
"Well done!" The crow man exclaimed to himself. This is the crow's admiration for his work. Even though he intentionally made his attack fail, the score he would earn by doing this would be a great help.
The protagonist stood still and saw clearly the man dressed in black. He shouted coldly. "Sneak attack is despicable! Who are you?"
The crow laughed and said proudly, ” I am the sent a.s.sa.s.sin of the demon king. I have been ordered to kill you!”
“Demon King?" The protagonist's brows crossed as he thought of the name. "—the devil who killed my parents?" Hearing the name of the demon king, the protagonist's eyes were filled with hatred.
“Yes, haha, the so-called ‘weeding', sweet extermination, where your beloved parents abandoned their only son in this world." The crow crackled loudly. "Ah! I have come today to completely remove the last weed. You!" Upon saying that, the crow lunged again, the dagger dangerously aimed at the protagonist. The blade permeated a black smoke as it slashed through the air. Eyes flashed with determination, the protagonist cast a spell.
"Haha, this is a soul-eating dagger. Even a single scratch from this would result in your soul destroyed and you will slowly wither and die!” While delivering his blows, the crow introduced the things his weapon could do.
The protagonist dodged the attack. Suddenly, he turned around and ran away as fast as he could. "Haha … you can't run away. Don't be a coward, and accept your death!” The crow laughed and ran after him.
