The 18 Goblins I defeated became 1 silver coin and 8 big copper coins! Hurray!

But the drop items from the goblins; which are the horns, were taken by the guild. Aren’t drop items usually kept? And then the raw materials handed over to the blacksmith in exchange for a customised weapon? This is what I thought but it seems that the guild asks for the drop item so they can judge whether it was really from the defeated monsters or not. It seems that the payment for the drop items are already included in the quest reward.

It can’t be helped then, if that’s the case. It’s possible after all, cheating could happen as people could bring the same drop item from a previous time, claim that you defeated the monster, and then clear the quest again.

If you want the drop item you either defeat a monster without taking the quest from the guild or take a quest that doesn’t require the drop items.

As for the excess drop items, the adventurer can decide whether he or she can hand it to the guild. For example, this time I defeated 18 goblins and since the quest only says 10 goblins, the extra 8 can be kept. Well, for now I’ll just hand it over. I can get it easily if it’s just the goblin horns anyway.

Now then, I fully understand now that Egocentric DefenseE G O N I S T  is a dreadful skill but unfortunately I cannot do anything about the current situation. Egocentric DefenseE G O N I S T  is a pa.s.sive skill that automatically reduces the damage to 1/10th and my sensitivity to x10.

Mhm. Is there any hope?

I mean, every time I use it I’ll be ero ero, y’know? Because of that I have lost my pure a.s.s¹, y’know? Fortunately, the compensation of my sensitivity increasing ten times does not activate every time and will only activate after I utilise the Egocentric DefenseE G O N I S T . In summary, ero-mode only happens during combat. On a second thought, there is no hope after all.

I grieved over the cruelty of this world but it’s not like my situation will change so I will try and adapt to it. Thinking about it, it IS a nice skill that reduces damage to 1/10th and the scenario of a combat scene turning into an amorous scene will only happens in a R-18 ero game anyway so it’s probably alright. Grey was just a special case. And that Grey is in capital now. I can do this, I can do this, it’s alright, it’s alright. Shiromu-kun can keep on going.²

What happened with Grey induced a great sense of despair in me but there was one good thing about it. After that time, I looked at myself in the mirror so I could appraise myself and wow, I have a new skill.

Ability: Acquired EXP will increase by 10x
Compensation: A higher chance of encountering monsters

The new skill is an OP skill that increases my acquired EXP by 10 times. Doesn’t that mean that I can level up 10 times faster than normal people? Having a higher chance of encountering monsters is not really a demerit for an adventurer like me. This is a superb skill. I am definitely part of the winning team now.

I was elated over getting my hands on another cheat skill but I cried when I saw the condition of acquirement. I see, so losing my virginity is the skill’s condition. Then I don’t need this skill anymore, so can we just forget about the fact that I got done by Grey? This skill’s existence is like the evidence that I was screwed by a man and my heart feels like it has been gouged out. Even though I got my hands on a highly efficient skill, what Grey did is unforgivable! So I will use this skill, level up fast, and someday I will definitely get my revenge!

Therefore, I ended up fully utilizing Egocentric DefenseE G O N I S T  and Divine Oracle of the Ghost ShrimpB L A S T  R A N K  U P  to defeat goblins and hence leveled up. No matter what I do, the ero ability won’t go away so I’ll just use what I can use.

Just like that I grinded goblins and earned money and EXPs, then I realized.

Oh yeah, I haven’t raised my guild rank yet.

In order to raise the guild rank you need to clear the quest 10 times and take the exams, and since I already took the Rank E quest 10 times, I should be qualified. I’m starting to get tired of defeating nothing but Goblins so I should try and take the exams.

“Shiromu-kun wants to take the exams to become a Rank D?

“Yes, is it possible?”

I consulted Michel-san at once and he explained about the exam.

It says it is an exam that boosts you up to a D-Rank but it is not really different from subjugation quests. You just have to hunt the monster designated by the guild to pa.s.s. It seems that some degree of ability is required for rank D adventurers.

Incidentally, for C-Rank and B-rank adventurers, not only ability but also cooperativeness is required. C-Rank and B-Rank take requests from the guild and country so one’s disposition will be of importance. Well, let’s just think about it when the time comes when I decide to become a C-Rank. It seems that the monster for the exams is a wolf. When you say wolf, I think of a wild animal.. I’m a little scared but if it is quite similar to the attacking strength of the Goblins, things will probably work out. Alright! Let’s take the exams then!

My basic style is the typical tanker⁴, using Egocentric DefenseE G O N I S T  to receive the opponents attacks and then attack using the Crimson Thief CutterB L O O D Y   S T E A L   D A G G E R. For the me who basically receives attacks, you can even say that I have the worst compatibility with the Ivy Wood that can paralyze in one hit.

Moreover, Egocentric DefenseE G O N I S T  doesn’t prevent abnormal status. Really, what to do.

“What do you plan to do? If you want we can form a party.”

“I would like to pa.s.s on that, thank you.”

If its combat with the Forest Wolf then Egocentric DefenseE G O N I S T  will definitely activate. If I did not have the skills, the me, who is your typical high school guy, won’t be fine receiving an attack from an opponent.

Meaning, if I ever form a party, I will have to be with Michel-san in the middle of ero ero-mode. I will have none of that! I can’t have my a.s.s get screwed any more than this!

But Forest Wolves are quite troublesome. Unlike goblins, that do nothing but charge at you, Forest Wolves actually try to avoid my attacks.

Arghhh! What a pain! I should have listened to Michel-san and placed traps!

It’s no use crying over spilt milk. Let’s just do what we can do for now. Thanks to Crimson Thief CutterB L O O D Y   S T E A L   D A G G E R and Egocentric DefenseE G O N I S T , my attack and defense are perfect. Even if I am attacked many times, it does not really have any effect on me and in comparison, I can defeat them just by hitting them with the blade once. In short, I will win even if we attack each other simultaneously.

It’s quite annoying to rely on Egocentric DefenseE G O N I S T  but I can’t win without it’s usefulness so I will just make the most out of it. I will stop concentrating on my defense and just concentrate solely on attack. My chance is when the opponent tries to attack and pounce on me. It was mentioned in a certain manga about hunting that the moment that the opponent attacks is when they become vulnerable.

I did not mind the Forest Wolf’s teeth sinking into my body when it came to bite as I swung the Crimson Thief CutterB L O O D Y   S T E A L   D A G G E R down.

“Fufufu. You guys still don’t realize that your attacks won’t work. With such attacks, you won’t be able to scratch nor hurt this cheat Hero-sama who came from another world! Fuhahaha! You better eat my sword!”

I slashed the Forest Wolf that bit me in high spirits. Yup. I’ve always wanted to recite these kind of chuuni⁵-like lines. Don’t tell me I’m pitiful.

Using myself as a bait is pretty scary but I don’t really feel any pain even if I get bitten and when they do bite me, I immediately cut them up with Crimson Thief CutterB L O O D Y   S T E A L   D A G G E R so the HP that was lost from getting attacked, regenerates.

They pounce. I hack. Another one bites me. I don’t feel much pain so I swung  Crimson Thief CutterB L O O D Y   S T E A L   D A G G E R down just like that. A pack of Forest Wolves swarmed onto me but when I slashed the Crimson Thief CutterB L O O D Y   S T E A L   D A G G E R  around, they all disappeared.

Just like that, little by little, the Forest Wolves disappeared and those who were still hiding probably also realized that they were no match for me and probably escaped, yelping. Fuu. These guys are just all bark no bite. Well, it’s probably just me being too OP!

The defeated Forest Wolves became particles of light and after they disappeared, a fang remained.

All of them were fangs. I thought it would leave a pelt since it’s a wolf but it seems that I was wrong. Is there some kind of rule when it comes to drop items? I want to know if they also drop rare items.

Anyway, let’s go back to the guild and ask Michel-san. As I thought of this, I stored the Forest Wolf fangs, and then suddenly something went don and pushed me from behind.

I thought, What? I tried to turn to look behind me but my body would not move. Rather, I dropped on my knees and fell to the ground just like that.

I did not understand what had just happened. I am numb all the way to my fingers and cannot move at all. Seriously, what is going on?! Did someone attack me!? Who is it? Grey? That ikemen really needs to get a life already!

It’s a tree. A tree is trying to lift me up.

Soon, the branch that is pressed beneath me dragged me to the root of the tree. When the figure was reflected in my sight, I was convinced.

Even though I said it was a tree, in it’s center was a face-like pattern with vines swirling around it. This is the Ivy Wood, the solo hunter-killer, plant-type monster.
