Rewrite System 36 Tournament Prologue

The sky is clear, the sun is scorching, the crowd are cheering and tension is all time high. Within the sand covered arena, two party of three are facing off against each other.

two warriors ducking it out with their swords and shields at the right flank, a spearman is holding off a theif by the left flank, while their mages behind them are lock in a stalemate for their magical duel.

The warriors are skillfully attacking and blocking each others strike and path, not letting the other to break through their defense. Occasionally the thief and spearman would try to help overwhelm their opponent but both of them are able to prevent each other from doing so, the spearman always skillfully use his longer reach to block and push back the thief while the thief utilize his speed and flexibility to bait, lead, and control the spearman attention to him.

The mages have the heaviest pressure among them, other than firing spells at one another, they have to cast spells to help their allies. Most of the time it would be dispelling their opponent spell before it takes effect on any of the front, one mistake and they could kiss victory good bye.

With both parties holding itself at even ground, the fight had become a battle of attrition.

All of the crowd were either cheering, insulting, or commenting the ongoing battle. Yes, all except for a small group at one side of Colosseum.

"Another group of mediocre students, Victor are you sure you're doing your job properly?" Emilia asked.

"My lady, my duty is to give guidance and teach the basic skills of the students weapon of choice, not train them to be up to your standards." Victor replied with an annoyed look.

"Indeed but you could have take the initiative and do norture them to be great warriors can you, no?" Nadia chime in.

"Well... That's true, but isn't that over my paycheck?" Said Victor before adding "look, the tides finally changing."

Their attention went back to the arena but one person between the teachers who have not such luxury. Stephanie and Luna sat there, the latter doesn't seem to care but the former is covered in cold sweat from the pressure exuded by the teachers around her.

'Out of all the places we could sit on, you just have to choose here don't you Luna.' she inwardly blamed her friend who is watching the fight with gleaming eyes.

Forcing herself to calm down she try to concentrate on the battle. The previous stalemate have been broken by the thief's team, the spearman seems to have lost a bit of his focus and missed a step in his footwork allowing the thief to seize the chance and throw a metal dart towards the opponent's mage.

The mage in turn, had to delay it's spell to avoid the dart but that slight delay was a decisive factor in a mages duel. Unable to keep up with his opponent momentum the mage was taken out, the rest of the fight then come as a breeze for the thief's party.

After the battle, the three teachers start discussing about many things again from which group are they betting on to which unlucky group would be given scrub duty for being the worse in the tournament.

Sigh... This is only the first day and the seats numbers could not be trade, do I really have to be with these weird adults?

In the partic.i.p.ant lobby, Lucas, Elea and many other are waiting for their turn. They could also watch the on going fight if they want but Lucas chose to review the rules of the tournament.

If he remembered correctly the brochure says:

"Welcome to Apple Falls Tournament O young warriors, this event is made to celebrate the 10th years since the academy founding days.

For those who wish to partic.i.p.ate please be aware and keep the following in mind for they can decide the outcome of your match.

First, you can partic.i.p.ate for Solo matches or Team matches with a maximum of 3 people.

Second, any and all healing is forbidden be it item or magic. Any individual/teams that uses it within the battle shall be disqualified.

Third, the use of supporting potions or concoction are allowed but limited to non-lethal support such as ironskin, leaping frog, swift rabbit, smoke vial, sleepy gas vial, etc. All supporting items are limited to only one flask/vial, Break it and face disqualification.

Fourth, attacking Vital areas such as eyes wether intentional or accidental will result in instant disqualification.

Fifth, every partic.i.p.ant shall be given a specially dulled weapons for the tournament as to avoid any accidents that may occur, anyone caught with any lethal weapon within the arena shall be disqualified.

Sixth, let us all fight fair and honorably, even outside of the arena. Any attempt to hurt, defame, or sabotage other parties before and after the event shall be investigated thoroughly. Any guilty parties found shall face expulsion from the academy.

Lastly, let us all use this opportunity to deepen our bond and understanding with on another within the arena for our fist speak louder than words."

Shaking his head, he turn his attention to the returning parties. They are both talking, complementing, as well as advising one another on how to improve themselves like friends...

It honestly made him a bit envious, no one in the academy can beat him with a sword and that made many distance themselves from him. He still remember a particular short and weak looking guy that spar with him a couple times, every time they would be commenting each other style and what kinda sword is the coolest, sadly he's no longer within the academy.

Scoffing, he push all unnecessary thoughts away and concentrate on the rooster in his hand. The tournament seems to be using the linear system, there are a total of 16 teams for the team matches and a total of 16 for the individual fights. That d.a.m.n ugly pig is all the way on the other side of the single matches rooster so if he wants to beat the c.r.a.p out of him he have to reach the finals.

But that is for later, right now he can only wait in boredom as the team matches is being brought first before individual matches.

Biting the bread with melted cheese he brought for lunch, his thoughts flew out the window.

'how far have you improve out there, I hope you can last longer against me next time we meet.' the thought bring him smile as he enjoyed his lunch.
