Alex didn't hesitate too much. He was soon on his way to University City. When he stepped out of the train, he gave Bill a call and soon a yellow Lamborghini drifted in front of him and the door opened.
"Alex, come on in!" The driver, who was Bill, laughed.
Alex got in and commented. "Aren't you a flashy one?"
"Haha, As a member of the Flynn Family, I can't possibly spoil our collective reputation. " Bill replied humorously. He was proud of his car.
"So, are you taking me to the Family Alliance?" Alex asked.
Bill nodded. "Let's get that done first, then I can take you around, enjoy some of the sights in the city."
Alex snorted. "I wonder what kind of 'sights' you are going to show?"
"Haha, your intuition is truly bang on the money!" Bill laughed.
In half an hour, the Lamborghini was standing in front of a huge gate. Behind the gate was an immensely large garden and within was a huge palace. The whole thing reminded Alex of the Tokyo Imperial Palace, but neither of these cities or this building existed on his Earth.
Alex and Bill entered the palace and a butler wearing a midnight black tuxedo greeted the two.
"Master Bill, Young Sir Alex, please follow me to the reward collection counter."
Alex noted the difference in the way the two of them had been addressed, but calmly walked behind the butler.
Soon Alex arrived at a counter where a well dressed woman was sitting behind a holographic device.
"Young Sir Alex, for having partic.i.p.ated in the mission, the Family Alliance would like to award you with a reward." The woman respectfully answered.
She then took out a steel briefcase and motioned Alex to follow her. Then they entered a cubicle, where she opened the briefcase and left the area.
Alex nodded at the group's respect for his privacy, as he opened the briefcase to see what was inside. He found an object inside that reminded him of a pokeball, but the weird orb was actually black in color. When Alex tried to observe it using Energy Affinity, he found no signs of any energy flow at all.
Beside the black orb was a note with instructions on how to open the orb. The orb was actually a mechanical contraption made using an energy absorbing material. Clearly, the orb actually held something within.
However, Alex was suspicious. He entered a group mission, and as such, he didn't stand out by a large margin. He refused to accept that all people received this thing as a reward.
However, he didn't overthink the matter for now and opened the orb. As the orb opened, he found inside was actually a card and a small note.
"Single Use Rank 1 Card, Lunar Slash."
The card had a dazzling image of a half moon, but attached to it was the handle of a blade. The card, Alex realized immediately, was a grade A card. Alex immediately was suspicious.
"What is the meaning of this?" He wondered in his mind. The attribute, he could immediately identify it, though he hadn't heard much about this attribute before. Moon Attribute.
Lune Family. Moon Attribute. Lunar Slash. Things were fitting into place. Alex placed the card back into orb and sighed. Was the Family Alliance provoking him? He wasn't sure. He carried this briefcase back to the reward counter and handed it back.
"This is not the reward I was expecting, I hope I can exchange it for something else." Alex said.
Bill, who had been waiting at the counter for Alex to return looked surprised. However, the woman didn't seem surprised at all.
"Young Sir Alex, I have been instructed that if you wish to exchange this, you can head to this room." She handed a card with directions.
Alex sighed and walked along the instructed pa.s.sage, ignoring Bill, who was looking at what happened with a raised eye.
"What's going on?" Bill asked the woman at the counter.
The woman shook her head. "I am unsure Master Bill."
Alex knocked on the door he was instructed to find and entered.
There he found a young man, who Alex was stunned to see. He had never seen this person before, who seemed to be a year younger than Alex himself. He was wearing a black robe with a shining full moon embossed on the back.
This young man, Alex had never even heard of in this Card World. But when he saw him, he knew it was. For he had seen this person in his original world. It was a distant cousin of his. Marty Lune.
Alex's eyes narrowed. Marty Lune looked at Alex as if he were looking at a toy. He smiled and talked.
"Alex... long have I heard your infamous name. The shame of our family." Marty laughed airily.
Alex stood quietly, without responding, waiting to hear why this distant cousin of his had called him.
"Are you wondering who I am? Of course, you were never involved with the greater Lune family to begin with. So it isn't surprising. My name is Marty Lune, by blood we can be considered distant cousins."
Alex did not respond at all. Marty smiled.
"Aren't you wondering why you received the reward you did? Well I thought I'd upgrade your gift, considering you still held the name Lune and everything." Marty nodded.
"Lunar Slash, it is the trademark of our family. I wanted to give it to you, so that you could understand the difference between heaven and earth." Marty spoke on.
"You've been quite a surprise to be honest. A cripple like you, I never expected you to actually manage to generate a base card. After all, the patriarch had said that it would be impossible for you to generate one. However, reading your file now, I really pity you.
You've been using single use cards to hide the fact that you can't generate active cards, isn't it? No wonder you keep running around the card dimension with a stick."
