Jayne had visions of how Ronnie woke up safe. She smiled to herself and snuck closer to him. By then she suddenly shuddered inwardly.
'Maya….!"
The way Ronnie had first addressed her as Maya. Jayne was wide awake now as she thought about it. She looked up at her husband's charming, serene face which looked too peaceful.
'Maya? Isn't that the same name he had uttered on the day of our wedding…I love you Maya… Maya… Yes! It's the same Maya…. This really shows how special Maya was to Ronnie…Does Ronnie think of me as Maya and that's the reason he loves me so much?' Jayne became sad as she thought of all the possibilities.
She kissed him on his chin, 'I don't really know who is Maya. I don't want to think otherwise too. But then I'll try to find out who is Maya and how important she was to you. She must have played a major role in your life for you to have remembered her first thing as soon as you woke up Ronnie…'
After sometime, she eventually drifted off into a perturbed sleep. The smile which was hanging till now was replaced with a worried, scrunched up face.
Ronnie woke up in between. He looked down at his wife's delicate face which was filled with an anxious look. He thought, 'I worried her too much. I'm sorry wifey. I'll take care of myself henceforth.' He kissed her forehead and fell into a profound sleep.
The next morning was a Friday. Jayne woke up perfectly alright. She got down slowly making sure not to disturb Ronnie who was still asleep. The IV drip had long flown into her body. It was detached with just the IV needle hanging at the back of her hand.
She went to the washroom to freshen up a bit and came back to sit beside Ronnie.
Mrs Caroline Roy came in and asked her to go and eat breakfast since Ronnie was feeling much better now. Jayne didn't reject. She came out and had breakfast which was prepared by her mother while Caroline Roy kept watch on Ronnie.
Jayne came back just at the time when Ronnie was trying to wake up… his eyelashes fluttered open.
"Good morning Ron! How are you feeling today?" Jayne had a radiant smile hanging on her face as she walked from the door upto his bed.
Looking at his wife who seemed to have regained her skin colour, unlike yesterday when she looked so pale, Ronnie remarked, "Good morning my sunshine! I'm feeling a lot better today."
Caroline Roy, "..."
*Cough! Cough! Cough!* She mimicked a cough.
Ronnie looked up at his mother who was sitting right next to him with the smile still hanging on his face.
'Oh s.h.i.t! I'm so screwed!' Ronnie thought to himself.
"M-Mom! G-Good morning!" He stuttered.
Caroline Roy didn't respond immediately.
Jayne giggled.
"Of course mom, without this sunshine, I wouldn't be here at all…" He took his mother's hand which was on the bed.
"Ron! Don't ever tell that!" Her eyes welled up.
She motioned Jayne to come stand next to her. She then took her hands and linked it with her son's hands, "I'm so happy to see you two love each other so much that you're both ready to die for each other. I want you both sticking together... no matter whatever situation life throws you.. through thick and thin…"
"Till death do us apart…" Ronnie and Jayne said in union.
Caroline Roy felt her heart pound with happiness as she savoured the feeling of contentment. A sweet smile was hanging on her lips.
Ronnie and Jayne's eyes met momentarily. Ronnie winked and mimicked a kiss when his mother wasn't looking at him.
Jayne could feel the flush crawling up her face. Yet she tried to act normal with a smile plastered on her face scolding Ronnie in her head.
Caroline Roy then told Jayne, "You go back home, freshen up, rest for a while and come back child. All of us are here. We'll take care of him."
"Mom, I'll leave in the afternoon since I still have things to take care at the company." Jayne answered.
"Okay child!" Caroline Roy agreed.
Jayne still had to finalise on the talks with the Director. Also, she had to let the actors meet the director. She couldn't delay this since all the chosen actors were busy individuals with a totally packed schedule. If she missed them now, it would be very difficult to get them back.
She had already been held up due to this unforeseen circ.u.mstance. Hence, she couldn't delay any longer.
Since even Ronnie was feeling better and everybody else were there to take care of him, she could go out for a few hours and take care of the company matters.
In the afternoon, Jayne kissed goodbye to Ronnie and left the hospital.
The driver first drove her home. Jayne showered and changed into her business attire.
She walked out of her room cla.s.sily dressed in black slim-fit formal pants which she had teamed it up with a tunic top. She chose pumps today since it felt more relaxed than heels. She had French braided her hair sideways which added to her elegance.
Lunch was ready. She asked the other driver to deliver lunch to the hospital. She too ate some of it and left to the company.
The driver dropped her off at the company entrance.
Jayne alighted from the car and proceeded towards the entrance to the company.
"h.e.l.lo Mrs Jayne Roy! How are you doing?"
Jayne stopped in her tracks when she heard a familiar voice.
