A Dungeon is a living realm, or dimension. It feeds on the main dimension and grows through it. It is formed where large amounts of mana gathers, and causes a fold in s.p.a.ce.
A spirit is a being made of pure elemental energy, with a soul bonding it together.
They are created in places of spiritual significance, causing large amounts of idea energy to focus there, allowing a soul to be born. However, another requirement is that there must be a high density of certain kind of elemental energy.
If it's a sacred area filled with fire energy, such as a volcano, Fire Spirits will begin to be formed over time.
However, Kyoku has managed to take the tattered pieces of soul, and seal it within the knife as a vessel. Then he put his own blood into it unintentionally, allowing it to absorb his own nature, and with his mana constantly being absorbed into it over time, imbued his own elements within it.
As it continued gaining sc.r.a.ps of soul and energy, and feeding on his mana, it began to become more and more full of the unused dark elemental power within Kyoku, and full of murderous intent to grow.
Then, it finally found the a soul compatible with such darkness to complete itself, and grant it the full power of the element of Shadows.
The sc.r.a.ps of soul energy and demonic power now fused into a infant Spirit of the Dark, still contained in the vessel used to protect the embryo state.
Such a thing was only possible as the constant feeding didn't allow the sparks of life to die out, Kyoku's ma.s.sive soul unknowingly gave it shelter and strength, and the original soul lingered with such strength from a great desire to survive.
"In other words... it's near-impossible to recreate to gain more spirits. And I can't do anything as long as I haven't satisfied 3 conditions according to the Dungeon."
Luna asked, "what conditions?"
"Firstly: I must learn to use Dark spells and magic and have at least some Proficiency in its use."
Fenrir nodded, as that made a lot of sense.
"Secondly, I must use my talents to impress the spirit and gain its respect."
"Alright." Luna agreed, that should be obvious.
"Lastly... sigh. I need to find some f.u.c.king way to get it out of the knife."
This is where all 3 of us showed an awkward expression. n.o.body knew how in the h.e.l.l they should do that!
I sighed. "So..." Luna ventures out into the silence; "you want to be a Spirit Mage?"
"Yeah... I think it would work out well..." I muttered, shaking my head a bit as I did so.

I felt something nudge me, and looked down to see Fenrir poking me with his nose.
"No point in wallowing in disappointment man. You gotta get up and keep moving. If you managed to create a spirit accidentally, I'm sure you'll eventually get it out of the knife."
I nodded. What Fenrir was saying made sense.
"So let's keep going, and you work on the conditions you can accomplish."
I groaned, getting back up. Luna just kind of a.s.sumed Fenrir was giving me a pep talk, as it just looked like twitching, tail movement, and a few low growls.
You know... I really ought to work on my spells for the moment. Despite fire being my "main element" I guess, I only have like 2 fire spells!
Not to mention not even having any darkness, but it turns out Ice and Fire both only have 2 spells, though fire has some higher-tier magic than ice.
But the element I have the most variety with is Light! I have 3 main light spells, all of the healing variety.
Agh, so I need to work on my spellmanship and variety...
"Alrighty... lets keep going in."
We walked up to the stone door, and I quickly mined the rest of the Dungeon Crystals, feeling a small tremor in the cavern as I did so.
The Dungeon was now fully awake and aware of us...
...and it was NOT happy.
I could feel the s.p.a.ce rippling as some sort of awareness cane over the area, and I could feel that numbing chill of Crisis Detection warning me of danger.
'Wow p.i.s.sing of a living dimension is SCARY WHEN YOU CAN SENSE ITS MOVEMENTS!'
The sheer amount of POWER I could sense flooding into the walls at my actions! Holy s.h.i.t!
I got up from picking up the most recent Dungeon Crystal, and rushed to the last 3, using a.n.a.lyze to figure out how and where to aim, using Freezing and Burning to embrittlement the rock in my little rhythm as fast as I could, and then I smacked all 3, grabbed one in each hand, and then the last.
After quickly securing the last few, I held up the fire-made pickax, and it formed itself into a spear that gave off light, which I ran to the stone door with.
"Come on! We gotta go!"
As we left I could feel the cavern rumbling, a shudder as the floor began to crack and break, until SOMETHING broke through into that room.
"WHO DARES DESECRATE THE LAND OF THE KITSUNE?!"
I felt immediate annoyance at that. Land of the Kitsune? You're a different dimension just feeding off of it! f.u.c.k you and your grand entrance!
I turned right as I was about to enter the door Luna opened, and yelled back "The Last Kitsune, Kyoku!"
I could feel the whatever-it-was turning its attention to me, so I gave a parting shot.
"And as the Last Kitsune, I formally declare that this s.p.a.ce is NOT the sacred land of the Kitsune, and that you are a lying b.i.t.c.h!"
And with that I jumped back, into the doorway that Luna swung shut as soon as I'd cleared, and I immediately blew it up just like the last one, until I'd felt the warping in s.p.a.ce was gone there.
"Are you f.u.c.king crazy?" Luna yelled at me, scared witless.
I laughed, waving her anger away. "d.a.m.n Luna, I didn't know you COULD swear!"
She puffed out her cheeks in annoyance.
"You're a crazy, mad fox. You know that, right?"
"Eh, apparently you're fine with that so what does it matter?"
I said it casually, stretching as I observed our surroundings, but Luna began to blush a little. "Idiot..."
"Hmm? Did you say something Luna?"
"Ah, no! Nothing!"
I shrugged. Alrighty then.
Now as for our new location... we were in a dojo? Wooden walls and floor, ceiling with rafters and supporting pillar in the middle.
On the opposite side was a sliding door, and I could feel the presence of the ghost past it, as it was cracked open ever-so-slightly.
However, inside the Dojo were these two...mannequins?
Pieces of wood held together at the joints by bra.s.s hooks, with copper plating and rivers along the certain parts to create an 'inbuilt armor'.
One held a wooden katana with bronze along the blade to make it sharp, and the other had nunchucks.
"I'm gonna have to fight these things aren't I? I bet you they got some sort of fire-resistance enchantment, and are scary fast." I said with no small amount of wry annoyance to Luna.
"I'm not taking that bet."
"Fenrir?"
"Yeah... no way."
"Tsk. I wanted to make so money. Actually what is money here?"
Luna looked at me. "We live in a Dungeon Kyoku. As far as I'm aware, there isn't any currency."
Ah. That's fair.
