"It appears that the third test takes place in a Dungeon somehow?"
Luna just kinda blinked at me. "How in the heck did your people manage THAT?!"
I just kinda shrugged. How should I know!
'Wait, more than one Dungeon was created in the area?' Agh... add that to the list of thing I got to worry about. No wait! "Does that mean another Foxkin boss might be out there!?" 'So he's like me?' 'Oh...' Well... I'm disappointed. But now I also got a new form of 6th sense(do I have more like 9 at this point? Seriously! 'Hm... 5 senses plus the 6th one of detecting magic, 7th is souls, 8th is basically seeing the future using the prediction-type skill I got as a War Dancer, and so the ability to feel Time and s.p.a.ce is my 9th sense, yup. Funnily enough, all those special senses got absorbed into a.n.a.lyze!' How to describe it... you know when you're underwater? Imagine being underwater, but you can move freely, and nothing looks different. But you can still feel all the current flowing around you as waves ripple on by. That's what this new ninth sense felt like, and it gave me a feeling of the 'water' of s.p.a.ce becoming solid(ice?) where the walls were. 'That's probably some sort of dimensional barrier outlining this s.p.a.ce in the dungeon like the one around the Glade.' I continued forward, figuring I'd probably have to beat this Dungeon now to get out and continue forward. We kept walking, pa.s.sing through the cavern with walls and pillars filled with crystals. "Hey Kyoku..." "Yeah Luna?" "Is it just me, or do those crystals kinda look like the ones in the lake?" "You mean at the Glade? Huh... yeah I guess they kinda do." "Yes I mean at the glade, have you seen another lake here?" "Well the forest must have SOME form of water to survive." "...oh yeah... but n.o.body comes in usually, so n.o.body would know..." And with that, I wandered over to a crystal, and poked at it. "Oh no." Fenrir just c.o.c.ked his head as if to say, "you okay buddy?" "I WILL NEVER LET YOU WIN SKIPPY!" Yeah... Luna officially thinks I'm a nut job. "*ahem*, sorry, just had some technical difficulties there." Luna tilted her head just like Fenrir has only a a moment prior. 'Huh? What's he saying?' I coughed awkwardly. 'Hey Dungeon, are these crystals good for you?' "...oh yes. Time to gri~ind." A pickax of Fire quickly formed in my hand, and I began to chop at the rock. "I am a dwarf, and I'm digging a hole, diggy-diggy hole, diggy-diggy hole. I am a dwarf, and I'm digging a hole!" Luna was once again surprised by this Foxkin. They were in a Dungeon, yet he acted like a lunatic, began mining the strange crystals, and singing about being a dwarf? 'He's seriously gone crackers!' She looked at Fenrir with concern obvious, and Fenrir gave an awkward wolf-shrug. 'It's okay... probably? Master must have a reason...' I actually did have a reason for singing as I dug! Thanks for believing in me Fenrir! I was using mana through the song to try and loosen the rocks as vibrations of energy channeled through music into the wall. It was kinda working too. 'Rhythm based magic will rule the world! Ahahaha!' *Cough*, anyways... I got the pickax deep into the rock above the Dungeon Crystal, and yanked it out of the wall, picked it up, and shoved it into my inventory. ...oh yes. I'm doing this. "Hey Luna, help me mine out this cavern!" "The whole thing!?" "If we can!" "WHY!?" "These crystals are beneficial to our Dungeon!" Fenrir nodded, finally understanding the emotions he'd sensed from his master in this context. "Ah? Oh!" Luna was surprised, they were kinda similar, but these crystals held color unlike the ones in Kyoku's Dungeon. Maybe they were the same thing? "Kyoku, why do these ones have color if yours don't?" I answered word for word what the Dungeon said to me, only processing what it meant as I myself said it. "It's because this is a higher-grade Dungeon." "Huh... fair enough." Luna began to create a whip out of moisture(a lot of wet cave walls?), and smashed at the rocks surrounding each crystal, carving furrows into them to loosen the crystals. I meanwhile kept putting my back into it as I thought about what kind of magic I could use to help me be faster at this. 'Maybe...?' I tried to use a simple idea of temperature, as heating things up and fire seemed to be my specialty, while freezing things was also a talent of mine(though affecting water is d.a.m.n difficult, lowering temperature to cause frost works really well, so my fire spells and Freezing are the Magic's I feel most comfortable with. Things expand as they get hot, and shrink as they get cold. If I use a spell to rapidly raise the heat, and then rapidly cook it down, couldn't I make the rock more brittle? 'Okay... use the same idea behind making detonation more like a shotgun blast, make it so only the desired parts change temperature. And I can't just do one cycle, so set up the spell as essentially Freezing and I suppose a 'Burning'(?) spell cycling one after another.' Okay, music-based magic is good for linking up different spell ideas, so I tried to make a small tune to help. Okay... clap is heat, smacking rock is cold. "Clap, clap-clap, smack, smack, clap, smack-smack, clap-smack, clap clap-clap, smack smack-smack!" It wasn't particularly neat or entertaining, but it held a rhythm, differentiated spells, and fit pretty well with what my cla.s.s's approach to magic was. If only I had a proper instrument, this would go so much better! Anyway let's try hitting thick rock now. I swung my pick at it, and the entire portion of wall around the Crystal is aimed the spell at shattered to many, many pieces, while the Crystal fell into the pile as well. "Ah? Wow!" d.a.m.n! Did I get a new spell out of that? *** Freezing/Burning III [Proficiency 77%] Tier-0 -A spell capable of shifting energy in an area to rapidly induce cold or heat. Water and air elements can be moved as well to help the effects. *** 'No... but it did change. Probably still Tier-0 cause it basically just changed temperature to a rapid degree. The using of it to make rock brittle probably counts as Tier-2 though.'
"NO!" Luna jumped at my panicked shout as I grabbed my head in anguish, backing away from the wall.
