I experimented with some ideas involving magic, and tried to make a few 'new spells' using the ideas.
First I reexamined my current spells and the spell intent behind them.
Windblade is intended to cut until it can't anymore. Simple, and weak.
Healing Light is using the light element to enhance or encourage ones vitality to heal themself. My magic energy pushed their physical energy to heal.
Sacred Flame is a more energy efficient Healing Light, with a more focused range, and with a second function of surgically burning out infections or alien material.
FoxFire, my only level 3 spell, was a probably the lowest tier spell out there. It's complexity was so low it was mind numbing.
Most magic requires gathering, condensing into a specific shape, and then willing it with your intent. The more complicated the structure or intent, the longer it would take to create, even for me. I do have to think it and will it, which takes reaction time.
FoxFire's structure is nonexistent. As a level 1 spell, it literally was 'condense' and 'release'. You just gather the magic essence around a focused point, and it naturally spreads evenly around that point, becoming a sphere. So no 'structure' is needed, as it's meant to be a small, tightly bound ball of fire.
The intent is even more basic, as its literally "go burn this" or "explode". The instinctual desire to destroy is enough intent for it to work.
At higher levels, more b.a.l.l.s of flame appear, but it's not actually making me have to focus harder or longer. It's more like I am so familiar with the process that I can loop the energy and process between multiple points. So it's the same cost, but x2 damage. Or as it is currently, x3.
However using all of them at once, if aimed, does require concentration.
Why am I saying all this? Well for one, it distracts me from all the deadly sounding things Luna mentioned '-A MIND FLAYER? WTF IS THAT???', and lets you better understand what exactly I did to create spell variants.
'Stop putting your head in the sand with everything dangerous.'
'Never! I am an ostrich of G.o.dly ability! I can puncture any sand with my head!'
'That's not the thing about ourself you should be proud of!'
'Then what is?'
'...We saved a girl?'
'Only because she's a neko and it would've made me feel guilty if I hadn't helped a defenseless girl. Ultimately selfish reasons.'
'...'
'HAHA I WIN YOU SUNOVAb.i.t.c.h!'
Anyways. I sorta dissected a few spells by slowing the process. Eventually I tried to add a lil something to Windblade.
I noticed that once it ran out of energy, the air contained to create the blade would be released and expand back out to normal dimensions, causing a little puff of air.
So naturally I stuck a nugget of concentrated fire in the core of the spell and set it so that on release of the air, the fire would be released and consume the air to grow, while riding it to spread.
In short, a slightly shimmering transparent blade cuts you, and right as it runs out of juice, it explodes in a small fireball while only partway through you.
The strength of the explosion was paltry in comparison to FoxFire, and the WindBlade:Detonation spell cost 2 mana instead of 1 like the original, but I successfully reached Tier-1 with it, so I'll take it.
I then began to consider how FoxFire really worked. Eventually I came to this conclusion: I was not actually creating multiple fireb.a.l.l.s.
That would mean I was gathering multiple sources of mana simultaneously, which doesn't match how simple FoxFire is.
In reality, I was still only have 1 focus point. The mana comes in as a vortex, and creates multiple fireb.a.l.l.s as points in orbit around the focus.
So as the energy is swirled around the focus, it collided with itself and gathers into 2 fireb.a.l.l.s, or 3, or potentially much more, and then the focus itself splits into the fireb.a.l.l.s created in its...o...b..t to give me control and make them individual.
Which is so super complicated sounding I can't believe it's Tier-0, but it's not an intended effect. It's a simple by product of a higher mastery.
But... what if I purposely do it? What if I change MY intent of FoxFire to match what it does? Is it possible this spell is of a higher tier and just needs me to grow the heck up to reach it?
So I did. I created my focus, but as I did so, I tried to think of a image, an intent matching the idea of orbit...
'Planets... stars... galaxies? No I barely know what those actually look like... but...'
An image came to mind. A memory. The memory. The memory of infinity, of the river of endless energy, winding among the stars of worlds, the abyss of everything.
The focus point because a ring instead a singular point, and then became a flow of fire elements forming together, as through movement, the became more and more pure as the former together into stars the energy encircled, feeding and flowing.

Perhaps it's a good thing Luna was pa.s.sed out, because even in her unconscious state, her body began to react to the presence emanating from the Foxkin nearby. In his eyes appeared a cosmos, an infinite stretch of existence, and the gra.s.s around him seemed to be crushed flat by an invisible force.

On a mountain leagues away, a forgotten G.o.d, one who'd been made into a demon by the lack of followers, stirred. He was the one visible from behind the dungeon, and he opened a bright red-gold eye as he looked towards the dungeon.
"Such a soul... what kind of mortal being carries a soul so absolutely crushingly huge?"

It's ears perked up straight on its head, listening to something, before one flicked to the side as if to disregard it.
"No it's not a threat. In fact it feels like one of my children... but they are long gone by now..."
He listened further.
"Make contact...? No need... if indeed it is one who is of me, then they will come to me. If they do not, then I had no need to consider them."
"Rest Snow Phoenix. If they come to me, I will let you come as well, dear young one. This old fox has some life left in him yet..."

Eventually I opened my eyes, and saw 4 FoxFire's dancing in my palm. However, the appearance was entirely different!
Pure white flames licked around each other, constantly swirling onwards towards itself. The b.a.l.l.s of flame were even smaller than before, about 2/3 of the original size.
I could feel that in terms of heat however, they couldn't even compare.
'Wait what? How does that even work???' I looked at my stats just to check what the heck my dumba.s.s Dungeon is talking about, and nearly choked. Spellcasting FoxFire IV [Proficiency 3%] Tier-3 Healing Light II [Proficiency 92%] Tier-0 Sacred Flame I [Proficiency 73%] Tier-1 WindBlade I [Proficiency 47%] Tier-0 -Detonation Tier-1 Techniques Cosmos Mana Flow I [Proficiency 12%] Vital Targeting I [Proficiency 11%] Dagger Arts I [Proficiency 0%] Sprint I [Proficiency 24%] Dodge I [Proficiency 0%] Identify II [Proficiency 32%] "..." When the h.e.l.l did FoxFire become Tier-3! Also why is Identify no longer a racial talent but now a technique with a level? When did it become level 2!? Almost as if responding to my thoughts, Identify activated while looking at the spell casting menu, and a description of the FoxFire spell appeared. "...wha..." 'Well uh. Believe it or not I'm surprisingly not confused. Not really. I get it.' 'Wait seriously?' 'In terms of powerful intent, the memories and thoughts of the River of Souls experiences for infinity is kinda the most G.o.dly thing I could ever pull up. I'm just surprised as h.e.l.l because I didn't see it come at all.' 'Well... that's life?' Yeah. Maybe I accidentally did something I shouldn't have? Also the scariest part is that while the structure is no longer a simple point, the speed at which the 'River of Souls' or rather, flow of mana in the spell gathers Fire Essence is nothing short of terrifying. Add in the intent of making fire into entire planes of existence, and I got a spell about x5 more dangerous. The explosion has the same radius, but the heat is now so ridiculous that I can use them like bullets to burn through multiple targets before exploding. Like a WindBlade:Detonation where it burns through till it explodes? 'Well. About time my status as a reincarnate individual gives me a leg up on the compet.i.tion.'
