Living In The Last Days Chapter 9

As soon as they came out, they saw the chubby little girl standing on a stool, her eyes looking back at the two who just came back.

The refrigerator door was wide open!

There was even a bright red apple stuffed in the little brat's mouth!

"…" The chubby little girl quickly gobbled up the rest and jumped down, her actions contrasting to her one-year-old body.

Xia Man looked at the messy refrigerator, then turned her gaze to the little girl. She was licking her chubby fingers.

"Qu Zhen, you should go prepare the supplies. I need to bring her to buy some clothes. She can't just wear this all day, can she?" Xia Man sighed. She was beginning to feel that this daughter of hers was becoming disobedient!

Qu Zhen smiled. "No need to rush, I don't actually need to be there myself anyway. Let me go with you."

"I think it's pretty comfy and breezy, actually…" Even though she had the feeling that she shouldn't say it, she still couldn't help it.

Xia Man turned her head. "You have quite the guts, to wear that in the apocalypse. Even if you don't end up becoming zombie food, you'd probably be cooked by the ability wielders. Don't believe me?"

The chubby girl immediately thought about it, a scene appearing in her mind. She immediately ran over to Xia Man and sweetly said, "Mommy, let's go buy some clothes~"

If you didn't see Xia Man's blackened face, you would've thought that she was pampering her daughter.

Qu Zhen bent down and gazed at the chubby little girl who was a bit ugly and patted her head. "Xia Man, I want to make her my daughter."

Xia Man was surprised. "Why?"

"I've already had the plan for some time. I won't be able to give birth anyway, so I plan to adopt one." Qu Zhen deeply gazed at Xia Man, her gaze unwavering.

"…" Xia Man wanted to ask why, but the words wouldn't come out.

"Little girl, I'm your mother, alright?" Qu Zhen patted her head and asked.

The chubby child looked at Xia Man's conflicted expression and unhesitantly answered, "En!"

Xia Man felt that the little girl had zero respect.

Qu Zhen grabbed the chubby child and said, "Let's go buy some clothes for our little girl. Ah, what's the little one's name?"

"Long Lengleng*!" The little one proudly said, patting her chest.

The two other people couldn't understand her pride.

"Are you really going to take her out like this?" Xia Man said, pointing out how the kid only had an ap.r.o.n on, revealing a plump body and a white b.u.t.t.

"What else? What should a one-year-old actually be afraid of?" Qu Zhen held the chubby girl on one hand, her other unconsciously pulling Xia Man's waist. "Let's go. It's nighttime now, so it won't matter."

Xia Man felt a bit shaken due to Qu Zhen's action. But when she looked back, she saw the smile on Qu Zhen's face. Xia Man just lowered her head, having no intention of breaking away.

On the surface, her reason was simply Xia Man's foot injury. As for the actual reason, only she herself knew about it.

Somewhere in Qu Zhen's heart, there was a sweet and soft feeling she couldn't explain. Below her was an abyss ten thousand feet high. But when she saw that the person in her heart was holding her, that kind of willingness, she'd rather let her bones be crushed than to let go.

Xia Man was currently walking around. She didn't want to show too much*. Not to Qu Zhen, but to the people watching Qu Zhen.

*Giving information to the people watching Qu Zhen, she meant.

People would stare at the three whenever they pa.s.s by. First, because people with beauty and disposition attracts attention. Second, because one of them has an injured foot.

This was also the reason why she wasn't willing to go with Qu Zhen. She hated those eyes, staring at her with only pity.

The eyes she observed today were mostly on the chubby doll. A chubby white doll with a finger on one side, her sparkling eyes staring longingly at the snacks on the roadside.

"Can't you buy me something to eat? I'm starving…" The chubby girl pouted and looked at Qu Zhen. "You're my mom, you can't let me starve!"

Qu Zhen lowered her head to look at her. "You can only eat rice at most."

 Xia Man looked at the Qu Zhen in front of her, the darkness in her heart mostly dissipating. Everything hasn't started yet, it's not too late.

Finally, Qu Zhen bought the chubby little hoe* a few clothes and brought them home.

*The original was like this, I swear.

"I originally wanted to take you to my house, but it won't be safe these two days, so I'll pick you up after then." Qu Zhen hugged Xia Man and the little girl before leaving.

Xia Man knew what Qu Zhen was feeling insecure about.

The Qu Family was eager to take action* after Qu Zhen becomes an adult. If Qu Zhen wants to gain a foothold in the apocalypse, then these two days will surely conflict those people's interests.

*You know, make trouble.

Xia Man looked at the door Qu Zhen had just exited from for a while.

 "Xia Man, if you give me the chicken leg mommy gave you, I'll also call you mommy…" The chubby little girl looked at the chicken leg on the table and said.

"…" Are you really still going to treat yourself as a child?

"Xia Man~~" The little girl was acting spoiled.

"Do you really think of yourself as a child?" Xia Man closed the door, turned around, and picked the chubby girl up. "I'm warning you, don't you dare even think of using Qu Zhen!"

The chubby girl pouted. "But I really am a child…"

"Hmm?" Xia Man didn't believe her.

"Dragons have to be at least three hundred years old, but I'm not even a hundred…" The chubby one said in grief. "I don't want to bully mommy, but you can't even give birth to a child, let alone a child so cute like me. You would've given one to Qu Zhen's mother otherwise…"

Xia Man was so angry she wanted to pinch the innocent chubby little face. However, she just put her down in the end. "Clean up and go to bed early, we have something to do tomorrow."

The chubby girl twirled. "Are you talking about the pain?"

Xia Man's footsteps towards the bedroom halted. "You know about it?"

"I know everything about you." The soft voice turned into an old voice, because using the soft voice might just be thought as a joke.

Yet, Xia Man knew it was true.

On the other side, Qu Zhen was driving her car, an unhappy expression on her face. "I know." She hung up the call.

Qu Zhen knew that her old man would do this since the morning, but it didn't matter. To her, the Qu family meant nothing.

Qu Zhen suddenly thought of something and dialed a number.

"Miss!"

"Help me buy clothes for a little girl around the age of one and send them to Manman's house." Qu Zhen's voice held a bit of warmth.

Stunned, the other person could only said a yes before Qu Zhen hung up.

Maybe one day, her greatest wish would come true…
