Yin Xuelan followed Que Siyu to the government office. Before she could regain her balance from their rushed steps, she found the big hall was covered by a green enchantment in the air. Though the officer was saying something in the judging seat, she didn’t hear a single word. Then, she saw the underlings start to beat Bird with wood sticks on his back.

Bird himself also found some weird things. He did not hear the officer speaking as Xuelan did; what’s more, the beating on his back wasn’t painful. What’s wrong? Bird was confused when this happened, and he turned back to give a perplexed look to the underlings.

“When the cover is set, we will be separated from the world. Not to mention this beating; even you wanted to commit suicide, you can’t succeed, as time will be paused the very moment you are separated. When you step out from the cover, you’ll start a new life from that point. This is the great work of the great mind master.” Yin Xuelan came nearer to Siyu and explained all this to Bird, though she did not look at him in a formal manner.

“Sisi, is this answer correct?” Bird stood up to ask Que Siyu.

“Her name is Yin Xuelan, and she is the second daughter of one of the four families in the land of Canghun, and also my good companion.” Siyu used the simplest words to introduce her. “Xuelan didn’t tell all of the truth. Only one single mind master couldn’t do this; even my uncle, your master, cannot. This cover is a result of more than a hundred mind masters’ efforts. Bird, all the mind masters are helping you, and this is a special gift for only the Escape compet.i.tors.”

Bird looked up to appreciate this special present and he found many meteors falling on the area, beautifully shining.

About 100 people in the audience were standing in this hall. Most of them were compet.i.tors in the game. From the spiritual flaming lights surrounding their bodies, an observer could tell they were all above level two. When they heard the two retired families made an alliance for the game, they got frustrated.

“The two families joined together? It is almost impossible for us to win.”

“Hey, look, this young man is him! Bird Three on the screen.” Someone found him comparing the advertis.e.m.e.nt with the new compet.i.tor. “I didn’t realize that an idiot can qualify for this game. “I am in control. Don’t worry about me. Though this man is your friend, don’t expect me to accept him as our team member.” Yin Xuelan’s lips set in grim contempt.

Bird now got the point, and he asked Siyu, “Sisi, should all of us join in any team for the new game?”

“Though you haven’t been trained formally, your spiritual fire controlling capability was above level two. If it is necessary, people will run to you to invite you to join in theirs,” Siyu spoke out the truth calmly. “Open your left palm, let the spiritual Qi walk from your heart to the wrist, and release the power when you feel it; don’t force it back. This is your spiritual power, and by using your mind power to provoke it, the flame will appear in the real world. Try it now!”

The power rushed out from his slim wrist, red as blood, burning as fire in h.e.l.l. Soon this flame disappeared. . . His flame was out of control, and it struck back to the holder. Bird was. .h.i.t by the fire and he covered his heart, which was hurt badly, and he squatted to spout out blood, his face pale as a ghost. The monster on his back came out to frighten him with its sharp teeth.

“A cyan-faced walking dead? This man is . . . is a ghost-power master?” Someone yelled in fear. All of the people ran to find the exit when they heard this monster’s name. However, the cover did not allow them to escape from the hall.

“Sisi, go! Leave me as quick as possible! Run! The monster is coming out! I can’t control it!” Bird yelled anxiously at her. She was the only old friend he had since he had left Taohua Village. “Go! Don’t worry about me! Go!”
