I quickly flashed her a smile while I looked at where the cat beast had been. Remembering the fight and the prowess that it had shown, rammed home that everything out here is going to try and kill me.
Not just the infected, I would have to watch out for beasts, mutants and even other survivors. Heck I would make a bet even the plants will try to kill me at some point. Even as that thought crossed my mind, I broke into a small sweat and looked at the overgrown foliage that was around. I really hoped that I was wrong about that one.
This beast was a lot more dangerous that the previous wolves I had faced, just looking at its stats it wasn't even cla.s.sed as an animal anymore it was a "beast". I should have known this would happen after the infected evolved into zombies, as time went on the normal animals and insects around the world would probably go through mult.i.tude of evolution's as well.
I remembered the blood shot eyes of the beast and thought of its vicious air, the main question was, why did it want to kill me so much?
Are all beasts going to be this blood thirsty?
It had even shown levels of intelligence that was mind boggling. It had planned to blind me when the sun glinting off its claws, which showed high, levels of intelligence to ambush and kill me.
It had even done a surprise attack at the start.
If Ella hadn't warned me before it pounced I might not have noticed it, till it was too late.
Its intelligence was above 10, and I had only started off on 10 INT when I was level one. So that would mean it had about the same intelligence as a grown human. The thought was scary.
I couldn't help but to let out a sigh as I thought about the future, it was probably the beasts that would become the biggest threat in the world, that cat beast had been many times more dangerous than when I fought zombies.
Its level may have been higher than them, but I think at the same level it would have had an advantage. Its claws and tough hide would make it more dangerous than any zombie.
Well unless we count freaks like the special, royal cla.s.s and mutant cla.s.s infected. They would be able to fight them, Ella even dominated it.
But Ella is special; the Empress Cla.s.s strain I would bet is a super rare existence.
Picking up the gold globe lying on the ground I quickly looked before crushing it. It contained some entertainment points and another swift blade. Finally Ella would have the same weapon as me, our fighting power just shot up tremendously.
Getting ourselves together we started to head towards the east. It was where the golden light had come from and my gut feeling was telling me to go to it.
The light from the west was actually giving me a stronger feeling to go that way, but as that lead to the mountains I would rather go to the east first. The amount of dangers in the mountains would be monumental.
As we made our way down we came across more wreckage and destruction, as well as many more zombies. The amount seemed to have shoot up as we made our way closer to the town center. The time continued to tick on as we had to keep taking breaks.
We had countless fights with strength and agility zombies. Half way through the killing we even found some level 6 zombies. The fights were actually really easy; once we got close to them Ella's aura would explode out and slow them down. The weaker ones would completely stop still and wait to be killed.
It was slightly shocking at first before I became numb to it. We had to keep stopping while Ella was eating which really slowed us down, and the physical exertion and constant tension was draining.
As it was pa.s.sing mid-day and we had still had not found where that golden light come from, I suddenly heard something.
*Clang*
I strained my ears to try and identify the sound as more clashing and ringing sounds went out. After getting the general direction from which it came, we took a slight detour and made our way over. As we got closer the sound became clearer, and I was able to tell that someone was fighting.
I got excited as I realized that the sound was coming from swords clashing and swinging. It means that we had found survivors. This not being the first time I had run across survivors I wasn't as happy as I could have been.
And I was even considering if I should actually go and talk to them. The last few survivors that I had run across had wanted nothing more than to kill me once they saw Ella. I got mired in thoughts as I considered what to do; I slightly shifted my attention to Ella as I thought.
I couldn't let them notice or see Ella if I was to actually meet them. If one of them used a.n.a.lyze, which was pretty much a no brainer, they would turn on me. If they saw Ella for what she truly is, I would have no choice but to kill them.
Well they might make a run for it or promise me that they wouldn't attack. But I couldn't trust them, after the first few times, I realized that the hatred that people had for infected would be too great.
Everyone in the world hates infected. It makes sense in its own right, but because of that fact, I wouldn't be able to interact with any survivors.
With 2/3 of people being turned into infected it's most likely that any survivors will have had a family member or someone they care about being turned into an infected, who they will have had to kill or maybe something worse happened to them.
Even if that's not the case Ella is a rare Empress cla.s.s infected, the amount of exp or the gear that she might drop when killed would incite the greed of anyone to attack us.
I couldn't help but let out a sigh as we moved closer and close. The sound of voices had become clearer as the sound of fighting finally died down.
They must have killed all of them.
We didn't run into any zombies as we got closer, they must have been clearing out the area when we stumbled upon them.
I had decided to quietly observe and maybe overhear what they are talking about. I could tell that there were at least 2 people in that area because of the voices. It could be a full caravan of people; it's easier to survive in a large group.
Though it would attract more zombies.
Finally making our way around a bend and climbing over a destroyed wall I caught a glimpse of them. I quickly ducked back down and dragged Ella with me. She didn't look too happy to be forcefully pulled so I just sent her a quiet apology.
Moving as stealthily as I could, I peek back over the rubble and saw the group. It was actually made up of 5 people who were looting the corpses. Their gear gleamed in the mid day sun and reflected of the metallic sheen.
3 of them were holding swords while out of the other 2, one was holding a bow and the last was holding a wand? Or is that a staff?
I didn't know the right word for it so I'll just go with staff for now. But what the h.e.l.l? An actual staff? What's with that?
I was staring fixedly at the staff as they moved about. The person with the staff was a woman that had blond hair and a dirty face, the gear that adorned her body was the exact same as the rest of the group. And it was slightly shocking to see them all have the same gear.
It was the combat gear that Ella and I had; now I know that the gear wouldn't be exclusive and the likely hood of seeing similar gear would happen. But for all of them to have it was weird. I had killed a certain amount of zombies in the time that I was roaming outside, but the gear that had dropped was abysmal. I would usually get entertainment points instead of gear, and I had no clue what that was used for yet.
The amount of gear I obtained was very low and I only had a few pieces of Combat gear to spare. For the whole party to have combat gear didn't make sense to me.
Another odd thing about the group was the bow. This wasn't a modern day cross bow or normal bow; it looked a lot more ancient and gave a medieval sense to it. I hadn't once run across a bow dropped by a zombie, but now I knew they must drop them.
But the skill to actually use the bow in fights would be insanely high. It made me a wary of the man holding the bow still looting the corpses.
The only thing I had which was actually better than their gear was my 2 swift blades. Scrutinizing the blades held by the 3 at the front, they only had the normal swords.
I don't know why I had such a sense, of peace of mind, when I noticed this fact, maybe I should have been happy that other survivors were doing good and had great gear. But something inside me was relieved.
I looked around for a better place to spy on them before sneaking around and making my way over. I wanted to hear what they were talking about; it could give me clues on how they got so much gear and where the staff came from.
Unless it was all luck.
Finally getting into a good spot where I could hear them, I slowed my breathing down and motioned for Ella not to make a sound. I strained my ear before I heard one of them talking. It was the man at the front of the party and he was using a rock to sit down and address them.
"Ok guys I think it's about time we head back to the town."
