"But dad!"

"I said no!"

"Mum?!"

"Listen to him sweetie, you're too young."

"But, but…!"

"Chloe, Dear, what do you think?"

Chloe, who was lounging to the side, scrolling on her laptop, looked up.

"What?"

"Do you think it would be alright for jade to play AGAE? Looking at the trailer the game looks very adult."

Chloe shifted her vision from her mother, who had a slightly worried face, and turned to Jade, who was showing puppy dog eyes. They were pleading for her to say it was all right. That the game wouldn't be that bad for her.

After Sim Tech had announced that anyone above the age of 12, with the consent of their parents, could play the game, it had caused a lot of controversy. Judging by trailers alone, it would be tough for parents and governments, to accept that this game could be played by minors. There had been no information from the beta players as they are under contract to not say anything.

One or 2 had spoken out and said they wouldn't consider this a game for children, which didn't actually break their contract rules. This further fuelled the backlash the announcement had caused. Furthermore, the game could only be bought by people over the age of 18. Basically making the game an R rated item. For the company to do both things confused many people.

They hadn't released a response about the criticism, this lead to some parents had reaching out to governments around the world, to ban such behavior, but they were quiet. This shocked some of the smarter people, as they realized this was them silently giving the go ahead.

What type of power did the game company have? CEO's around the world were still in the dark about this new company.

Chloe had a difficult expression on her face, as she looked at the pitiful expression on her younger sister's face, but her face hardened as she thought of her own experience.

"No it's too violent."

Jade's expression faltered and her body slumped to the ground. It was like she had been physically wounded by this betrayal. As the words were spoken and her expression read, her father became worried.

How violent was the game?

"Is it truly that bad?"

He frowned, while Jade off to the side p.r.i.c.ked her ears, was her father looking to help her?

Chloe nodded her head deeply.

"Yes, even with the pain setting, you can only set it as low 50%."

Her mother also frowned, Chloe hadn't spoken about her experience after finishing her testing. This was one of the first times she had talked about it. The contract had restricted her beforehand and they hadn't been worried. How bad could a game be? They only barely knew it was a VRMMO game. But now hearing what their daughter was saying, they weren't happy.

How much pain did she feel? Just the thought alone set a bad example. They definitely wouldn't let their youngest daughter play the game now. What parents want their kids to feel pain? Even if it is stimulated or unrealistic. They would have to experience what she was talking about first hand, to get a full grasp on what she could have gone through.

"You heard her Jade, you can't play the game."

He said it in a strict tone that brokered no argument. He was starting to worry more about letting his other daughter continue playing.

"Awww! I hate you guys!"

Jade screamed those words in frustration and rushed up to her room. Leaving the parents to look worriedly at Chloe.

"Can you tell us anything about the game Chlo?"

The mother spoke in a gentle tone and even used Chloe's nickname, that wasn't used much anymore. She was very worried after finding out about the pain setting. It had been speculate online about the realism of the game, but they as CEO's of corporations, who were busy, didn't pay much attention to this aspect.

It was the first time they were hearing about how real the game was.

Chloe looking up and seeing their looks waved it off, telling them not to worry and spent the next few minutes promising them, it was fine. They weren't too rea.s.sured by her, but left after a while. They discussed a few things and in the end decided that no one else in the family would use the pod, or game, until they both tried it out. Too see what was really happening.

They easily had enough money to buy 2 pods for themselves.

With her parents moving off, Chloe went back to looking at her laptop. She was on the home page of AGAE, the cla.s.ses had been updated again and a new trailer dropped. She couldn't wait to watch it, but first she would look at the new cla.s.ses.

She couldn't get information on the cla.s.ses when she was a beta tester, in game. She could only hope what she picked was good. Now that she would have to restart the game, she could check out their information. She also thought back to one other thing that happened, just before she finished testing.

There were 4 cla.s.ses added to the page. It had been 2 weeks since the first 2 had been revealed and there was still moths till the game was out.

The first picture was of a person, she thought? It was a bit hard to tell if they were a normal person. They had protrusions from their body and the picture would flicker, sometimes changing into a beast. One moment they would have claws, that looked like they could shred through an anything, then turn into a beast 2 meters tall. Then it would go back to normal. It kept changing over and over again for more than a minute before it reached a loop.

There were so many different things that popped up on the body of the picture. The name Evos was highlighted above it and the description below.

(Evos)

(Description

The Evos, seekers on the path of evolution. Evolution is a process all life must go through, to survive without it is impossible. There are those that take survival to a new extreme. The Evos look at evolution as a way to harness power that few others tap into.)

The second picture was split into two. On one side there was a person in a golden robe that had a white staff. The guys' hair was a yellow blond and he had a kind expression on his face. Behind him was an angle that had their wings spread. Holy light cascaded from above and lit his surroundings. The angle, which was a woman, had a kind expression on their face and gentle eyes.

If there had been sound effects, a choir would have been in the back ground.

Opposite him was the exact same body and figure. Except this time they were wearing black, their hair was the pitch of the night and their expression one of malice. It looked like they wanted to kill you with their eyes. Behind him was a demon with red skin, glowing eyes and sharp fangs. Their muscular body was riddled with scars and screamed dangerous.

It was the cla.s.sic good verse evil type of picture.

(Summoner)

(Description

The Summoner, master to many. The powers of the universe are vast and beyond near all comprehension. There are creatures beyond mortals that do understand the universe and you now call upon them. To subjugate or befriend them? That will be your choice. )

The third picture was actually the most normal. It was of a normal human that was bent over a bench. There were scattered pieces of metal all about, and he seemed to be making something. It couldn't be seen because he was bent over it.

(Engineer)

(Description

The Engineer is a master of machines. With all technology all but destroyed the ways of the old world are now considered obsolete. You however innovate and blend the ways of old, with the new, creating powerful machines from your own power.)

The last picture was of a woman in a robe. She had a staff holding up her tiny figure and ma.s.sive blasts of magic surrounding her. Her face was neutral as the picture showed a small bubble around her.

The bubble of air was keeping back everything; nothing could invade the s.p.a.ce just around her. It couldn't be told from looking at the picture, but by reading her face it could be inferred that none of the incoming attacks would hurt this person.

(Spatial Warper)

(Description

The Spatial Warpers are masters of manipulation. The universe separated with reason and purpose. To tear down those barriers would be an affront to creation. You however see no affront, but instead a way to manipulate the universe itself.)

Chloe was stunned after looking at all the pictures, they looked so powerful. She had stuck to the warrior when she went into the game, because she couldn't tell what some of the cla.s.ses were when she first started. Like Evos for example, even from the description she couldn't tell exactly what they did, much less from the ever changing picture.

She had played it safe with the warrior, but now wanted to change when she went back to the game.

'None of these fit'.

She thought that, as she looked at the new cla.s.ses, she was waiting for one in particular, she had to a.s.sess it first, or all that time would have been wasted. She was distracted by her thoughts as she re-read all the descriptions. And as she was doing this and just before she went to watch the new cinematic trailer, Jade came running down the stairs.

"Chloe! I heard you were getting a new pod to replace your old one, because you were a beta tester."

Chloe was still distracted when the question was asked, her mind thinking about the cla.s.ses. In that state she didn't hear the mischievous tone that Jade was using. She nodded her head mechanically to agree.

Jade gripped her hands tightly and tried to keep her expression normal.

"Can I have your old pod when you get your new one? I want to keep it, it look soooo cool and is one of the first pods ever created. I want to leave it somewhere in my room."

Chloe who was still absent minded didn't think hard about the question, she had no use for the old pod and wouldn't have any place to put it once the new one arrived. She was going to put it out in the garage to collect dust. So giving it to Jade didn't seem like a bad idea. If she kept it in good condition she might be able to sell it off at a later date.

Collectors would go nuts for one of the first VR pods ever made. It could help pay for her tuition when she's old enough. Not thinking on the subject anymore she nodded her head.

"Yeah ok. But make sure to keep it in a good condition. I'll help you move it later."

"Thank you!!!"

Jade jumped up and gave Chloe a big hug, before jumping down and running back to her room. When she closed the door and no one was around, her mischievous expression grew even bigger and she pumped her hand in the air.

"Mission success!"

She went to make room for the pod, giggling to herself.
