Avoid The Protagonist! Chapter 39

Xin Siyue could finally breathe, but she was angry. She was also feeling unwell so she didn't have it in her to scold Chen Sinan. The moment he let her go, she immediately waved her hand over in an exaggerated motion, clearly feeling fl.u.s.tered.

In response, Chen Sinan grabbed onto her flailing wrist. "What are you doing?" he asked as his face clouded with gloom.

After suffering this man's torment, Xin Siyue's hair was messy and ruined. Even without looking in a mirror, she knew that she had lost her elegance and grace. 

Her chest heaved visibly from anger. Xin Siyue suddenly pulled out the small hairpin that kept her hairstyle together and let her soft, long black hair fall. She fiercely scolded, "Shouldn't I be the one asking you? Did you forget to take your meds when you left the house?"

Xin Siyue had regretted what she said the instant it came out of her mouth. If Chen Sinan forgot to take his medicine, then she had definitely left her brain at home! How dare she scold Chen Sinan without a second thought?!

Her body trembled as she felt his dangerous gaze. As Chen Sinan spitefully narrowed his eyes, she thought of how her story would meet its tragic end. 

She calmed herself, but still felt her heart beating wildly. If she truly upset Chen Sinan, he could bring her to her death in minutes. 

How could she have done something so rash?!

Xin Siyue's legs went soft. If she decided to grovel and apologize to Chen Sinan, she'd be going against how she had portrayed herself thus far. If she did, would she lose her pride? Didn't the saying go, "one can lose anything but dignity and imposing manner"? What would happen if she continued to play her stubborn act 'til the end? Or would it be better if she admitted that she was wrong?

But during her indecisiveness, Chen Sinan did something that made her blood run cold. He took off his jacket and draped it considerately over her shoulders. He even helped her pull the jacket closed, while she stood stunned. "You made a fuss and beat me up already. Don't anger yourself. Look at how little you're wearing, are you sure you'd want to go out like that?" he said in a gentle voice. 

Shoot! You're the one who forced me out, okay?! 

After criticizing him in her thoughts, she realized she was paying attention to the wrong thing! 

What was Chen Sinan planning now that he suddenly started acting gentle? As if on cue, the moment Xin Siyue turned around, a handful of beautiful women stared directly at the two of them. 

Xin Siyue understood it all. Chen Sinan was using her as a shield, and she needed to play along in order to escape. 

Xin Siyue was in no mood to put on a monkey show with him, so she turned around, acting depressed. "Take me back home. If you have any problems, tell me on the way," she said helplessly. 

Xin Siyue knew that he was going to use her, but she also knew her request wasn't one he could reject. She forced him to bring her home in order to close off their act perfectly because, in the long run, he couldn't risk people knowing it was all a ruse. 

Chen Sinan looked at the lonely view of her behind, knitting his eyebrows pensively. He then followed after her. 

On the way back, Xin Siyue leaned her head against the back of the car seat. Her hazy eyes glazed over the bright lights pa.s.sing by. She was bored. 

After Chen Sinan took a few minutes to get accustomed to the dark, he couldn't help but look at her. 

She already took off the suit jacket as soon as she got in the car, folding it and placing it in the back seat. The urgent sensation that he sensed from her was really as Mao Shiyuan describedーshe was avoiding him like he was a scorpion.
