(3° person POV)
In Alondra, magic is a common thing. However, recently, in the last century, guns became a thing due some ancient ruins where the guns were found. With that, not only combat changed drastically, the advancement of the human race spiked.
However, recently, monster attacks have increased, and the fight for survival increased. Magic also as seen advancement, and a great one. A portal to another world, full of resources to explore and no intelligent race inhabiting it.
That gave resources to the human kingdoms able to open the portals. And here, on this world, a village in the plains was destroyed by a monster attack. As the village burns, a group of corpses lie near the forest, most of them half-eaten.
One of them, the one of a young child, a boy around 13-14, is covered in blood, his clothes ripped and he is missing an arm. His hair is black, and the dead eyes blue. The face is a bit handsome, the previously white and healthy skin now gray as the corpse it is.
From the blue sky, a white light falls on the corpse. And as it glows lightly, a miracle happens. The wounds start to close, the arm regenerates starting form the bone and joints, veins, muscles and finally skin and nails.
The skin regains its color, and the boy gasps for air.
...…
A few moments before, on earth, a plane flies through the night skies. On it, a youth smiles, satisfied with himself. He is flying back home from Korea, where the world tournament of StarCraft 2 was held. And this youth, Vladmir Grigori, a Romanian, is returning home with the first-place prize.
Since he was 12, he loved real time strategy, and strived to be better on them. One of his favorites, and the one that he is best at, is StarCraft2. And obviously, he does take gaming seriously, as he claimed the championship from the previous six world tournaments.
Unfortunately, he met with an unlucky fate, as a meteorite falls on the wings of the plane, making it crash on the ocean, killing all the pa.s.sengers.
...…
Vladmir is standing on a white s.p.a.ce, with nothing around him. He looks around confused.
(Vladmir): "Where is this place?"
(Old Man): "It's a barrier between worlds."
He looked back, where an old man is standing behind him, with black wrinkly skin, but straight posture and good build and a bald head with a white beard. He is also dressed in a white suit with black social shirt. He has a serious face with an apologetic glint in his eyes.
(Vladmir): "What… does that even mean?"
(G.o.d): "I apologize for my late introduction. I'm G.o.d."
(Vladmir): "….. I-I see… erm… nice to meet you?"
He asked a bit awkwardly. Seeing this, G.o.d started laughing thunderously, making Vladmir flinched.
(G.o.d): "Fear not, little friend. Yes, I made the right choice. You have guts."
(Vladmir): "Thank you… so, erm… Lord(?) G.o.d, why am I here?"
(G.o.d): "One hundred years ago, I made a deal with your G.o.d. In exchange with some stuff that I could do, he promised me a batch of souls. More exactly, 40 young souls. I wouldn't imagined that he would just crash a plane and sacrifice that many for just 40 souls… I beg your forgiveness."
He said, bowing deeply. Vladmir hurriedly tried to stop him:
(Vladmir): "Don't worry! I don't blame you or anything. If I have someone to blame is the one that killed me. I'm sure that there were ways to work around the deal without killing everyone in the plane…"
G.o.d went silent for a moment, before laughing again.
(G.o.d): "Indeed, I made the right choice. As for your question of why… I indeed made a deal with the G.o.d of your G.o.d. However, the situation changed drastically since the deal was made to this moment. You see, I simply needed their souls to send resources to my world.
However, now that they learned to travel to another planets way earlier than expected, I need people to fight the incoming threat besides sending resources. The 39 that I will send beside you will be the shining light of the future, together with you."
...….
The boy stopped in front of a large formation of blueish crystals.
(Vladmir): "G.o.d, you really sent me near a source of crystals… the gas geyser… it's there."
He said, looking at holes in the ground emanating greenish gas. This boy is Vladmir, transferred to the body of a young by called Lucas, now in a mission with a power given to him by G.o.d. And that power is…
(Vladmir): "Deploy: Command Center."
A blue, holographic light appeared not far from him. It took shape of an enormous sci-fi facility.
Rude Awakening – 2
(Vladmir's POV)
As the command center of the game StarCraft2 starts to materialize in front of me. This is the power that I asked the G.o.d of this world, the power to summon and build units of the StarCraft universe. The reason for that it's because it's where I'm most comfortable with it.
He asked me to create a place where the reincarnated high schoolers can grow stronger by themselves. They were a cla.s.s of a high-end school for rich kids, and they will be reincarnated in fifteen years. So, I need to create a nation that I run alone, so that they have a place to come when the rest of the world abandons them.
I also have the memories and emotions of the previous user of this body, Lucas, since my soul was fused with his, creating a new persona that a.s.sumed the name of the earthling Vladmir Grigori, as well having his personality as dominant.
Also, just for note, the crystals and the gas aren't the minerals and the gas isn't Vespene Gas. The name is simply explosive gas, and the properties are similar to be used as fuel. The crystals aren't even minerals, they're crystalized mana from the ground.
The reason I can use them is because of my power. They will be the resources for my troops. The command center gets completed in the meantime. I can only create one for free, and I need resources to create more bases, as well different powers to create the Protoss and the Zurg as a limitation.
They are for later, but for now I need to grow this base. Five SCVs come out of the command center. I immediately order four of them to collect the mana crystals and one to build a refinery on the geyser.
At the moment, I have 200 units of crystals and zero liters if gas. Well, one hundred units of crystal, since I just wasted half of that into making a refinery to gather the gas. Let me see… a new SCV will cost me ten, and the limit for Command Center is 25, which will cost me a total of 250.
Well, that won't take much time, as the SCVs quickly dig the mana crystals, each one bringing 25 units, making it 120 units per minute. Oh, barracks cost 200 units! Nice! I create ten more SCVs immediately, creating 14 working on the mana crystals, adding 250 to the per minute production, making it 370 per minute.
Excellent. I enter the command center as I wait for the crystals to be added. This command center is different from the others, having three times the size of a normal control center. The reason for that are the upper floors, where there's a command room for me, mixed with a personal room.
There's also a bathroom, a personal cantina with infinite food, training room, a personal AI a.s.sistance as well several other interesting and useful gadgets. As I take a warm shower, scrubbing the blood, I remember the life that Lucas had.
An orphan, as well a boy that lived in the streets. He ate at the orphanage, but didn't live there, as there weren't enough rooms. He had quite a bad life, and it was surprising that he lived until the age of 13. My memory of all of his life is a bit foggy, side effect of the being dead for too long, I guess.
I don't have anyone to mourn, the only person that he cared about left for the kingdom capital, and never returned or sent a letter, even though he indeed knew how to read. As for me, Vladmir… I have no attachments. I had friends, but in the end, I died, so no way to seeing them again.
So for now, it's "Commander Grigori mode", as my friends used to say when I was gaming seriously. I need a base and military power. G.o.d gave me a 24 hours monster ward for my base and myself, but it won't last forever.
I have to exploit this, as well find a suitable place to set a permanent base. According to the display that only I can see, the Supply Depots cannot fly, so to lay some down, the base has to be permanent. Fortunately, the barracks apparently can sustain twenty marines without the depots.
Since I'm still inside the territory of the Hara Kingdom, I will run the risk of having my base being attacked early. Even more that the city has been wiped. I should have at least ten days, that it's the distance to go to the nearest city. I want to be as far as possible.
As I eat a burger, crispy and delicious with bacon and cheddar, I take a look of the display floating in front of my face. I already have a lot of crystal units, as well a few liters of the explosive gas. Interestingly, the origin is from deposits of earth mana mixing with fire mana.
While special ore is created in the underground, the other part of the mana is this greenish explosive gas that can be used as fuel. Alright, I'm done waiting. From the console, I max out my SCVs, leaving three in the refinery and 22 to the crystal formation, that is almost finished completely.
Now with 500 units per minute, I can just wait a bit to start building things up. For now, I'll visit the training center. G.o.d not only has gifted me this incredible summoning power, he also has given me other abilities.
