Ivan leisurely walked toward the Encantados with large strides. "Let me take care of this."
He deployed his wings and charged toward Tinyland. The monsters went on their guard. They firmly clenched onto their weapons as Ivan's pressured them with his aura.
[Cyclonic Gusts]
Dozens of dwarves and Goblins were sliced in half in an instant. Lyra crashed into a squad of gnomes as she was. .h.i.t by the skill. If it was not for the layers of dwarves acting as meat shields, she would have died on the spot. She coughed blood but before she could move, Ivan attacked again.
[Aeroblast]
The sphere of wind shredded everything along its path; the remaining Wailing Ladies were all sliced into pieces.
"No!!!" Dreidus shouted as he witnessed Lyra's death. Unfortunately, he was too weak to move. He was suffering from both the backlash of his battle form and the use of [Death and Decay].
Five bit his lips. He saw the Elder Gnome push him back. "Master. Go to the dungeon core. The craftsmen are still there. Try to hide the dungeon core. We just need to buy enough time for Harriet to defeat the other dungeon; it can happen at any time now."
Five nodded. It was the only hope he had now. He listened to the Elder Gnome and rushed to the buildings behind him. However, he soon heard a voice behind him that crushed his last hope.
Ivan was controlling the wind around him, using it to create wind blades and attack the monsters. By doing so, he was also able to hear the Elder Gnomes' words.
While killing a few Flame Sisters, he taunted, "So you are hoping that Harriet would somehow break our defense? It is just wishful thinking. Why do you think I am here? It's because I already dealt with the threat aiming for our dungeon. Harriet is already dead."
The monsters were stunned. Their morale took a serious blow! They were willingly giving up their lives to buy a few more seconds but unexpectedly, it was all for nothing!
"It is pointless to continue to fight. Hand over the dungeon core. You are just hurting yourselves. I don't mind killing you all. You are just delaying the inevitable! If you obediently surrender, a few of you might survive!"
He continued to attack and this time, the monsters did not even try to defend themselves. What was the point of fighting? If Harriet truly died, then it was impossible for them to win; they were just hurting themselves for nothing.
Similarly, Five froze in his steps. He did not want to believe Ivan's words but deep inside, he felt that the winged man was not lying. Furthermore, it did not seem impossible; he was already level 60 while Harriet was only level 57.
Isa and a couple of winged men soon joined Ivan and contributed to the ma.s.sacre. The monsters died one after the other. Even Dreidus who commanded the monsters was mercilessly killed by Isa.
Five stood still and looked at the entrance of Tinyland, His heart sank; he felt completely defeated. 'Is this how it is going to end? I overestimated myself. The other dungeon masters have developed their dungeon a lot more than me.'
Five clenched his fists, he did not want to admit defeat but there was nothing he could do. All his monsters died and he was only level 16. How was he supposed to fight against those terrifying monsters? He was unwilling to let go; there was so much he had yet to do. He did not even accomplish his goal of finding his enemies and dealing with them!
Unexpectedly, at that moment, he actually thought about Iris. He still did not know whether she was truly innocent or just playing with him again. But it did not matter anymore; his adventure in this game was about to come to an end.
He heard the doors of the buildings open behind him. Several goblins and gnomes stepped out and one of them was even carrying the Core of Madness! They avoided Five's gaze with guilt. They just wanted to survive! To them, the battle was already lost but by giving the Dungeon Core, at least, they would be able to survive and would then work for the other dungeon monster.
Five looked at the scene and sighed. He felt betrayed but at the same time, he now understood what the other dungeons would have felt if they learned that their monsters were leaving him. He had been delighted when some of the monsters of the dungeons he conquered surrendered to him. Unexpectedly, it was now his turn to suffer this fate. Five let out a long sigh.
Ivan noticed the appearance of the core and smiled faintly. Only a couple of Flame Sisters and Bonesmen were still alive, aside from the craftsmen. Ivan disregarded them and flew toward the Dungeon Core. He landed in front of Five and chuckled. "So you are the dungeon master who looked after Harriet."
"I suppose I should thank you for facilitating our meeting. In exchange, I shall give you a swift and painless death. Any last words?"
Five glared at the winged man. He hated that condescending expression on Ivan's face. 'Is there truly nothing I can do? Anything. I just don't want it to end like that!' He bit his lips; he bit them so hard that if it was reality, he would already be bleeding to death. He dug his nails in his skin as he clenched his fists. His entire body trembled.
Ivan lightly chuckled. He raised his hand to attack but before he could, something flashed in the corner of his eyes.
At that moment, feeling Five's emotions, the Core of Madness actually reacted. The monsters all froze and stared at the unexpected phenomenon. Time seemed to have stopped for Five; the surroundings became silent, all he heard was a faint "Ding!" followed by a system prompt:

"Use it..."
"This is your last chance..."
A childish voice sounded at the back of Five's mind. He did not understand what was happening. Was the monster in the dungeon helping him? Was it because it knew it would just become food for someone else if I die?
Five glanced at his surroundings. The monsters were still all focused on the shining dungeon core. They completely disregarded him; a level 16 weakling.
"Mad King Lavenus... What exactly will be his power?"
As soon as the thought crossed his mind, a system prompt sounded:

"Use it!"
The creepy voice kept speaking at the back of Five's mind, prompting him to use the new skill. Five knew it was Lavenus. He could tell this skill was not simple and based on his previous record, all of the skills he obtained from the core involved a serious price. In this case, it was his soul!
Five did not understand the concept of soul in the game but it was clearly important. However, in this scenario, he had no choice. It was the only way he might be able to survive this situation. Five was stuck between a rock and a hard place; Using the skill felt like drinking poison to quench his thirst.
"You asked if I have any words to say? Actually, I do."
FIve's words brought Ivan back to reality. He narrowed his eyes and stared at Five.
Although the latter was reluctant to do so, he took a deep breath and spoke each word carefully:
"I shall"
"Surrender"
"To"
"Madn..."
"Crack!"
Before he could utter the last word, the entire dungeon violently shook. An Earthquake actually occurred at a critical moment. Five was flung on the ground as cracks appeared everywhere. The ceiling and the floor were made out of a special material, meant to be indestructible!
But under Five's very eyes, the ceiling was cracking! It was soon split open as a giant spike pierced through. It happened to do so just above Ivan's head. The giant spike continued on its way, crushing Ivan to death as it continued to move downward toward the next floor.
All the monsters and Five were taken aback. "What on Earth is happening?" They felt a powerful force pressing onto their body. They tried to move to take cover but were all unable to do so.
...
Farsight leaned against the entrance of his dungeon. He stayed in the shadows and enjoyed watching the desert. It was hot outside but he was not inconvenienced by it. He preferred the hot and dry weather to the cold and windy winter he was experiencing on Zero.
He confidently stared at the endless dunes of sand. Victory was within his grasp. It was just a matter of waiting. There was nothing his opponent could do.
However, as Farsight was enjoying this feeling of winning, a giant crack suddenly appeared in the middle of the sky. Farsight froze; as soon as he saw the abnormal phenomenon, a dark feeling rose in his heart.
A giant spike emerged from the crack. It curled around and pinned itself in the ground. Soon, a second and a third spike appeared and dug into the sand. They seemed to be dragging something!
They looked like giant hooks dug into the sand. Soon, what they were connected to appear; it was a giant crab body. The giant spikes were actually the legs of the crab. Furthermore, the crab body was only the lower body of the whole creature; it was directly connected to a giant human-like creature.
The creature was at least as high as the Empire State Building!
Its protruding eyes twitched as they focused onto Farsight.
