And so both sides stood waiting, hoping the other side wouldn't attack them. Each of them shifted around nervously. Ready to dodge any strike that would come at them.
Jay was truly confused at that time, why wouldn't these people just kill him? Despite having a strong weapon, taking on 2 sword intent experts would be his maximum. And that was provided he could properly see them and there was no outside interference.
Yet, just as both sides were considering attacking a bright light came from outside the hut. It was almost as if a miniature sun appeared. Disrupting the mist and dispelling the illusions on the people around him. Yet just as he saw the people surrounding them, they also only seemed to have properly seen him at this point.
"This- this isn't the Snow General!"
He had only just uttered that when 2 of the enemies closest to the entrance were brutally sliced in half. Behind them, 2 figures appeared. One was a large man that excluded a n.o.ble aura. He was unable to look at the weapon he was holding as he was sure his eyes would get wounded if he tried.
"YOU ALL DARE TO GRAB THE FIRST PERSON TO TAKE MY INHERITANCE IN THE LAST THOUSAND YEARS!!"
The burly man exclaimed. Very much unlike the aura he emitted, his face was crude and even a little mean looking.
Next to him a man he recognized appeared, it was one of the soldiers he was with previously. Spearwielder Geralt.
After that, the pieces of the puzzle clicked in his head.
It seemed that when he was pulled away from the legacy. The closest compatible person was Geralt of his troops. Then he must've mentioned he wasn't the one to touch the legacy stone at some point. So the General promptly came here to check.
"I GUESS ILL HAVE TO GIVE YOU ALL A BEATING YOU'LL NEVER FORGET."
The extremely loud General promptly swung his sword, causing a line of sword intent to go as far as 6 meters from his body, promptly killing 6 enemies before they even had a chance to react.
Blood and guts stained the ground following this extremely brutal strick which had promptly split them all in half.
The remaining 8 enemies spread out wildly while keeping calm. It was clear these men were all seasoned veterans. Even when there was such a large divide in strength, they remained calm and acted in the best way possible. Yet it seemed that they had underestimated their opponent even now.
Just a moment pa.s.sed before each of these men felt something was wrong, yet when they noticed it was already too late. Their bodies had already been mostly encased in earth which suddenly seemed to come out of the ground surprising Jay.
Just a few seconds earlier he had been in a hopeless situation, yet just this small amount of time later, these men had all either died or been incapacitated.
His perception of strength had gone through a major shift. He really was quite pitiful compared to true experts.
He burly man approached him before dropping a small package onto him.
"THAT'S FOR YOU LITTLE MAN, IT REALLY IS TOO BAD YOU COULDN'T FOLLOW MY LEGACY. BUT THEN AGAIN A LORD'S LEGACY SEEMS BETTER SUITED FOR YOU! HAHAHA!!"
After having his eardrums almost shattered Jay bowed politely towards this General before him. Sincerely thanking him. This only made this General laugh more before he suddenly disappeared, taking Geralt with him.
Legacy mission 1: Solve the mystery: completion 70%
Reward: First tier golem manual, great blacksmith manual.
And so his consciousness was once again robbed from him. He felt as if he was in a tunnel with endless possibilities, yet he was unable to navigate and was being thrown around instead.
As he opened his eyes once more he noticed he was in the cavern once again. His hand rested on a stone rock, one he recalled being golden prior to his travels.
Behind him, he could see the remained of his troops, 3 of them were looking around cautiously as if they only just entered this room while Geralt seemed slightly confused as he looked at him.
It seemed as if no time had pa.s.sed while they had gone through a mult.i.tude of fights, yet the very next moment Geralt knelt down.
"My lord, my apologies for stealing your legacy. I never intended to do so!"
Jay looked at him seriously, it seemed like he had become allot stronger thanks to the legacy. He felt a faint glimpse of sword intent enveloping him. It seemed like he was just a small step away fro being able to control it.
"This was a General's legacy. Thus it is natural its benefits go to a General. Congratulations on your promotion to a General Geralt, the items you gained in the trial shall be your reward."
At this point, everyone looked rather dumbfounded. The 3 other soldiers with them had no idea what happened and Geralt had never even thought of keeping the items he got for himself. After all, these included a D grade spear and nearly a hundred pieces of gold.
Jay was also glad when he saw Geralt had gotten some decent gear. One of which was an inters.p.a.cial belt. After all, going around with a backpack wasn't something the strong did.
After this Jay promptly decided to head back. He had noticed he was gaining a lot of experience. This meant the town was probably having a large fight. Something they might need their help with.

Once they got back to the rat room they saw the rats went back in their pillars, so they managed to simply sneak by them.
After another hour had pa.s.sed they had ascended the stairs.
At last, they were back on the surface!
