Chapter 2321: Leave the Capital
Editor: Atlas Studios
None of them was a fool. Anyone with a discerning eye could tell that much of what happened today had to do with Shao Yin. Now that Zhou Hua had been sent to the hospital and everyone had gathered round to talk about the situation, Shao Yin was nowhere to be seen.
“Alright, I don’t want to talk about what happened today anymore. You should think of a way to explain it to your father.” After saying that, Xia Jun asked everyone to sit down and eat.
It was not easy for everyone to gather together, so he wanted them to sit down to have a good meal. The family was in a harmonious mood, except for Xia Xing who had a solemn expression on his face. Qiao Mei took mental notes of everything she saw.
After the meal, they had a discussion and decided to go and stay at Qiao Mei’s manor for a while. It was rare that Gao Long was here on a visit, so they wanted to bring him there to relax and have some fun.
“I’ve already made arrangements for the transport. They’ll send you home first to pack your luggage and then drive you to the manor,” Qiao Mei said with a smile.
Everyone accepted the arrangement and all of them set off. Only Xia Xing stood rooted to the spot with the child in his arms. He seemed to have something to say to Qiao Mei.
“There’s a room set aside for you in the manor,” Qiao Mei said curtly.
“Third Cousin-in-law, I think I won’t go. The child is still young and it’ll be too hard on him. I’m sorry about what happened today. I’ll go back and persuade my mother not to cause trouble for you,” Xia Xing said firmly.
Qiao Mei sighed and said, “Don’t you know your mother’s personality? There is no way to settle this issue in a day or two. I’ll handle Tang Hui. Just take good care of Xia Hai… You must keep an eye on his education.”
Xia Xing understood what Qiao Mei was hinting at, but he had no other choice now. The child was still too young and needed someone to take care of him. He would think about this issue at length once the child was three or four years old.
It was only after Qiao Mei got into the car and left that Shao Yin dared to come out of the corner she was hiding in and walked to Xia Xing’s side. Xia Xing looked at her like she was invisible and walked straight to the opposite side of the street to get a taxi.
“Hey! Are you blind! Can’t you see me!” Shao Yin said angrily.
“You still have the cheek to ask me such a question,” Xia Xing said in annoyance.
“Why not? Your family had such a good time together. Did you even notice that I wasn’t around! It was my son’s one-month-old celebration banquet! Yet his mother was not around! You did not even try to look for me!” Shao Yin said, playing the blame game.
“Ha.” Xia Xing sneered and continued, “You know very well what you’ve done. You’d better pray that both Auntie Tang and my mother are fine. Otherwise, both the Xia family and the Tang family won’t let you off.”
“I didn’t do anything! Qiao Mei is the main problem! What has it got to do with me!” Shao Yin said agitatedly.
“Only the two of us know about this restaurant. Why will my mother know anything about the venue? How does she know that Xia Hai’s one-month-old celebration banquet is being held today? You don’t even seem to find all this embarra.s.sing!” Xia Xing said.
“Embarra.s.sing? That’s your biological mother! Xia Hai is her biological grandson! The fact that she isn’t invited to Xia Hai’s one-month-old celebration banquet is more embarra.s.sing!” Shao Yin said.
“Fine. It’s as if only what you say makes sense. I’ll get Grandfather to transfer me to my father’s workplace tomorrow. You can stay here by yourself and take good care of the child in the capital,” Xia Xing said firmly.
Xia Guang was doing quite well at his workplace. He was practically glowing and could even pa.s.s off as being 10 years younger! He had already gotten two promotions in a row! He was doing better than he had done in the past 20 years!
Everyone said that Xia Guang had married a good wife who brought luck to her husband and children! Deep down, Xia Guang also knew very well that he was the one who had benefited from Tang Hui marrying him. They had a peaceful life and his career was also progressing well!
“You! The child is still so young! Yet you want to leave me alone here! How can you bear to do that!” Shao Yin cried.
“It’s not as if you need to go out to work. It’s more than easy enough for you to take care of the child on your own. There’s no need to say anything else. It’s settled. I’ll leave tomorrow.” After saying that, Xia Xing got into the taxi. Shao Yin sat in the back seat and sobbed pitifully.
She had never thought that she would be caught in such a situation. With Xia Xing around, she could still voice her opinion in the Xia family. If he left, no one in the Xia family would give her the time of day! She would be left isolated and helpless in the Xia family! Her maternal family was even more unreliable! How was she going to survive in the future!
Zhou Hua was still in critical condition in the hospital and Xia Wen had been dealing with this matter. He knew that Qiao Mei was very strong, but he did not expect her to go so far as to break three of Zhou Hua’s ribs. Zhou Hua would not be able to swallow any food and drink until she recovered.
“Aunt, how long will she need to be treated? How much will it cost?” Xia Wen asked.
“As the saying goes, it takes 100 days to recover from a serious injury. Looking at her current condition, she’ll need a minimum of three months. To fully recover, it’ll probably take more than seven months,” Xia Fang said.
“Sigh… Looks like the Xia family will have to take care of her for a while. I’ll get her a personal nurse,” Xia Wen said with a sigh.
